A recently fully renovated apartment located on the 1st Floor in a residence with elevator overlooking the square and fountain in the centre of St Palais sur Mer. Open plan kitchen/diner and living room with a modern feel, light and bright. New 'wet room' style shower room with toilet and basin with mirror above and heated towel rail. The apartment is newly furnished in a contemporary style - clean and comfortable.

Why Karen Regan chose Royan area

We fell in love with St Palais after holidaying here in 2012 and bought the apartment to enjoy more relaxing holidays. Its just over an hour and a half from where we live in the Poitou Charentes which means it easily accessible for us for weekend breaks.

What makes this apartment unique

We just arrive at the apartment park the car and relax, no need to drive anywhere if we don't want to. We do however like to catch the ferry from Royan to the Medoc across the Gironde estuary and visit wineries for some wine tastings!

Coast/Beach:

4 sandy beaches - Saint Palais’ pretty beach is a 5 minute walk away and offers supervised swimming (in season) and is cleaned daily, with promenades restaurants and bars. The beach also has a children’s club. Nauzan is also in easy walking distance. Le Platin can be reached along a spectacular coast walk and La Grande Cote is an immense beach ideal for serious surfing & is a short drive (4.5km) with a back drop of pine forests.

Royan nearby with excellent shopping facilities and superb daily market, where you can also catch the ferry to the vineyards & Chateaux of the Medoc, La Palmyre Zoo, France's largest oyster and mussel growing area with picturesque fishing villages, La Rochelle, Cognac, Saintes and Bordeaux easy day trips Over 2500 hours of sunshine annually, second only to Cote D'Azur.

Further Details:

The town centre boasts a daily produce market in summer (great fresh fish & oysters), supermarket, cinema and a variety of shops, bars & restaurants so no need for the car in the evenings! Bicycles can be hired in the village (300m) and the extensive dedicated cycle lanes offer safe and beautiful cycling through woodlands all right by the sea.

'Le lac de parc de loisirs', situated just behind the covered market, is filled with great things to do if you’re a child, from miniature motorised boats to mini-golf, a playground and skate park. Adults can play tennis and even go fishing although for the latter you need a permit. Golf de Royan an 18 hole course is just a short drive outside of St Palais.

During the summer months the town also puts on a number of festivals including an international fireworks competition that takes place throughout the last half of July. Plus there are regular concerts, markets and exhibitions.

Saint Palais is a great family oriented town. Evening activities / entertainment are a regular feature of the summer season, with concerts and games.

Wonderful apartment in fantastic location

We were so pleased with this apartment right in the heart of Saint Palais sur Mer. It was surprisinly quiet too - no traffic noise and no noise from other apartments. There was plenty of room for our family and everything we could have wanted too - from a wonderful power shower in the bathroom to a fully equipped kitchen. The apartment was clean, fresh, bright and airy, and with a fantastic balcony was a great place to watch the world go by. We even took our bikes and with an easy access bike store, it was the perfect place to start a coastal bike ride from. We would definitely recommend staying here.

Fantastic location in a beautiful seaside town.

The apartment is small but well decorated with everything you need for a holiday. There is an abundance of free parking and the location allows you to meet all your needs on foot. Round the corner from the market, a few minutes walk to the lovely beach and great restaurants, a choice of two great boulangeries, a supermarket and other great shops: St Palais has everything. There are great coastal walks to other beaches. If you want to venture further afield, the Medoc region is a short ferry ride away and you can be in Cognac within an hour. A big Centre Commercial at Vaux is also an experience. SO much to see and lots to do, we had a brilliant holiday.

Lovely summer break

We loved our stay in St. Palais. On our arrival we were met by Karen and she gave us alot of the information that we needed for our stay. There is also an information booklet with lots of useful information left in the flat.

The apartment is brilliantly equipped with everything you might need and is very central with a butcher, baker and fabulous local market just behind the apartments. The seafood there is sublime and the Cave opposite provides great wine. There is car parking in the free car park just over the road ( but it can be busy when the market is in operation or when events are being staged in town, so patience and a keen eye is useful.)

There are lots of lovely beaches and coves within close proximity either walking, cycling or a short drive, although during high season dogs are now banned from all surrounding beaches including previously dog friendly beaches. You have to go right up the coast now. (The police patrol with buggies and enforcement is strict.) On alot of days the weather was too hot for our furry friend to be out on the beach anyway. The flat was lovely and cool for our dog during the day.

St. Palais has a good selection of restaurants (The Globe, The Nausicaa, Chez Bob, La Regaline and the Coyote just below the apartment to mention a few.) Our dog was allowed in all he restaurants and they were all very friendly. The place itself is very buzzy and even our teenage son enjoyed himself.

The flat was lovely and clean and well maintained. The shower is fab and very thoughtfully designed.

Delightful apartment in a beautiful seaside town

The location of the apartment could not be better, right by the town square and market and surrounded by excellent restaurants and speciality shops. Karen met us on arrival to show us around the apartment. It has everything we could possibly need to fully enjoy our holiday, including a welcoming bottle of wine. Whether you use the apartment as a base to visit the surrounding towns and villages or as we did to stay mainly in St Palais with its excellent beaches you couldn't hope to find a better located and equipped apartment. It's been 30 years since our last visit to St Palais and we won't be leaving it long before we return, hopefully to stay in Karen's apartment

Lovely appartment ideally located

We enjoyed our stay in St. Palais. Karen met us and gave us all the information we needed. The apartment is well equipped and very central with a good supermarket, butcher, baker and local market within 50 metres. Car parking in the free car park just over the road (it can be busy when the market is in operation so patience and perseverance is useful!). Lots of lovely beaches and coves within close proximity. St. Palais has a good selection of restaurants (The Globe does good seafood at reasonable prices). The butchers also has a deli section with lots of delicious prepared food. We are looking forward to returning next year and exploring the area further.

A Little Gem

This is a little gem of a holiday apartment which sits in the heart of a pretty beach town. With the bustling daily market at the back and shops, places to eat and the beach at the front, there is plenty to do within a very short walking distance. We loved sitting on the balcony watching the town come to life in the morning. If you want to walk a little further, we recommend the scenic coastal paths to the other nearby beaches. If you have a car, try a trip to nearby Royan with it's fabulous food market, or a little further to the wonderfully medieval La Rochelle, The owners are very welcoming and have provided everything you could possibly need in the flat. The perfect base for a truly relaxing holiday.

Changeover Day:
Weeks run from Saturday to Saturday but shorter breaks or long winter lets are considered. Arrival after 3pm, departures by 11am these timings can be flexible please ask.
