About Abbie Johnson

Born and bred in Barnoldswick we relocated to Warwickshire in 1999. We bought Cobble Cottage in August 2012 as we wanted a place of our own when visiting friends and family. After months of hardwork renovating the cottage we now have the best of both worlds, living in Warwickshire and visiting our northern roots with the children. We have decided to open our door and share the cottage with you as we feel Cobble Cottage would make the perfect getaway, whether it is to relax and unwind or to get out and about to explore the towns and beautiful countryside of the surrounding area.

Abbie Johnson purchased this cottage in 2012

Why Abbie Johnson chose Barnoldswick

We bought the cottage as it was full of character and resides in one of the oldest parts of town. Although we are not serious ramblers we enjoy walking and this area offers some great walking with lovely views.

Cobble Cottage is conveniently placed for the town centre and amenities.

What makes this cottage unique

The interior character of the cottage has been retained. The latch doors, stone staircase, exposed stone windows compliment perfectly with the modern fittings and the stone fireplace with woodburner are great for cosy nights in.

Lovely, Characterful Cottage - Highly Recommened

  • 5 of 5

I arrived when the "Beast from the East" was in full force and I did wonder whether the house would be warm enough. But as I soon as I stepped inside it was obvious it was well heated and very comfortable. I used the wood burner a couple of times on the coldest days but usually the CH was enough to keep the house nice and cosy. The bed is really comfortable, the shower excellent, everything just works. A couple of friends visited and they loved the place also. The owner was friendly an helpful and allowed me a late afternoon checkout for my return flight home. I highly recommend this property.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your lovely review Darren, we're so pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Cobble Cottage despite the force from 'beast from the east'. It was an awful night when you arrived in the snow, however pleased you found the cottage warm, cosy and comfortable during your stay. Thanks again Abbie & Gary.

Cosy Cottage

  • 3 of 5

The cottage was as described, clean and comfortable. It was a good base from which to explore the surrounding area. The kitchen was very practical, with a big fridge. The bedroom was particularly warm and the bed was very comfortable, ensuring we got a good sleep!

very compact but good for 2. Well equiped kitchen.

  • 4 of 5

A little difficult to find but we made it after pulling in at a nursery and walking down the hill to the property. We followed an AA route planner map which didn't get us quite there as my husband had put the post code in wrong! Everything was great apart from the bed which was too soft for me as I often suffer with a bad back. The location was great for a wander into town and also to go off on walks which was our main aim, also very handy for other areas such as Skipton and the forest of Bowland.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your four star review. Sorry you struggled to find the cottage, it is a little 'tucked away', however pleased to hear you found the location and everything about it great, apart from the bed which is a shame! Always a difficult one to get right, as everyone's preferences are different. We have now changed the bed frame and will be changing the matress in the near future so fingers crossed, if you come back again, the bed will be perfect for you. Thanks again. Abbie Xx

Little break

  • 5 of 5

First impressions was amazing the cottage was warm high quality and very welcoming.

This is one of the best self catering properties we have stayed in and we have stayed in quite a few.

It was just what the description of the property said perfect for a couple looking for peace and quite but not out in the middle of nowhere.

Transport links are very good and lovely shops.

Comfortable cottage in ideal location.

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed our stay. Cobble cottage is on the edge of the town and on the path to the hills, yet only a few minutes walk from shops and eateries. Barnoldswick makes a good centre for exploring the area and is never so crowded as Skipton. We spent a very pleasant eleven nights there and would certainly consider returning.
