Beautiful Country House with Hot Tub - Dogs Welcome!

Overview

Property

Updated: 05-Nov-2016
House near Crieff, Perthshire, Scotland - Pets Welcome

The Old Manse of Monzie is a very spacious house set in the glorious Perthshire countryside and an idyllic setting for a get-together of family or friends. Situated in the centre of Scotland, it is perfectly placed to explore much of the country - but nearby are famous golf courses, distilleries, castles and fabulous walking from the doorstep so you might not have time to drive the hour to Edinburgh to explore its delights! Indeed many guests don't stray far and just enjoy relaxing in front of the open fire, or watching the red squirrels and admiring the view from the hot tub!

We've had the most wonderful half term here - accommodation superb and so much to do in the area. We all want to come back in the summer!

It was the most perfect venue for my father's 70th birthday - ideal for all ages and we had a really fabulous weekend - and sunshine too! Loved all the extra touches that make this such a very special house. Thank you for everything!

Amazing place to stay for a family gathering !

  • 5 of 5

We booked this house for a family celebration and right from the first communication with the owner, could not have been happier with the experience. The house is beautiful, the gardens stunning and the added bonus of the hot tub made this one of the best week's we have ever had.

Everything has been thought of by the owner and it was so nice to be able to have space for everyone to do their own thing should they want to. The kitchen is enormous and with the bonus of an Aga, made cooking so simple and enjoyable. The area has so much to offer that a week was simply not long enough. We shall be back next Spring! Thank you so much.

Fantastic for large family/friend gathering.

  • 4 of 5

Have just returned from a Fantastic weekend break at The old Manse of Monzie. The Kitchen/dining/conservatory area is very welcoming and where our family of 12 relaxed and played games the whole weekend. There is a separate lounge with 3 large sofas and a log fire, however we all felt more comfortable gathered round the table while some of us learnt to cook on the Aga. The Lovely Bedrooms were all very big in size, the beds were made up on arrival with good quality pillows, quilts and heated blankets, Some rooms can become a little cold because of the size but you have access to the heating and hot water system, so it never became a problem. The towels are provided for you and you have access to a washing machine if you need to use it. There is a good selection of DVDs and games available for use. The Manse is surrounded by a beautiful private garden which our Dogs loved. Plenty room for them to run and play while the adults enjoyed the Hot tub. I would definitely come back here. The information pack provided on arrival was great and easy to follow, giving all the information needed for local activities and how to use the Aga, WiFi etc. Positives..... size of house (Could easy sleep more), Large fridge freezer, every cooking utensil you could need, Lots of extras in the kitchen (Tea, sugar, foil, salt, pepper etc), Toys, games, DVDs for kids, Ample supply of logs for the fire, peaceful & private gardens, WiFi and lots, lots more. Negatives..... if there are any, I would suggest a notice on the road saying Old Manse of Monzie (I passed it twice), and the only other thing, ensure the Hot tub is cleaned at the end of the break, (We used it Saturday but the Handyman came to clean it Sunday which left it out of use the rest of the break). Looking forward to booking this place again. The owners were more than helpful and accommodating, they offered great communication and customer service. Thank you for allowing us into your beautiful home.

Owner's Response: Am so glad that you had a great stay and want to come again! I am very sorry that there was a mix up with the hot tub cleaning (it's emptied between each guests and the handyman thought you were leaving on Sunday - I do apologise for my mistake). Look forward to welcoming you in the future!

Lovely house in beautiful surroundings.

  • 5 of 5

Our party of 7 adults and 2 children spent a superb weekend here for a family celebration. The house was ideal with plenty of space for everyone with a large dining kitchen for socialising. Cooking with the " Aga" was fun.

The weather was glorious and we made full use of the extensive garden, including the barbecue.

The children found plenty to play with, the tractor being the most popular.

We found the owner very helpful and informative.

Would definitely recommend this property.

Beautiful highland retreat

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful house - everything we could possibly have wanted was in place. We had a really happy and comfortable stay, but also made lots of trips out to see things - a trip to Perth, lovely walks from the door, and the stunning Loch Earn. In the evenings we made full use of the fantastic spacious kitchen. Thank you! See you in the summer, I hope!

October Kids Holidays

  • 3 of 5

When we arrived the cleaners had not long arrived and we were told that we could move in at 12 noon, and the cleaners advised that the property will not be ready until 4pm, they did not spend much time cleaning and left by 1pm. The Hot tub was not fully working and they were still installing/commissioning the unit on the day we arrived. The Hot tub did not work and this was a big disappointment for both families. The House was a great size and the gardens were great for the dog. the property lacked outside lighting that worked and it was very dark at night outside the property. very little hot water for 9 people. great AGA for cooking. The house worked for our needs but we did book this property as it had a hot tub and this was very disappointing. The Ross & Colquhoun families.

Owner's Response: There must have been some confusion with the cleaners as I have checked and they had been there for hours before you arrived - I was trying to be helpful to let you come before the check in time of 4pm and am sorry that they hadn't quite finished. I explained to you before you booked that the hot tub wasn't installed and specifally asked if your booking depended on it being available (and if it did then not to come as I couldn't guarantee it would be ready) - you replied 'It would obviously be great if the hot tub was working but we would still book it anyway.' It was ready on the Wednesday though, so I hope you enjoyed it for the remainder of the week. There is an exterior light on a sensor outside the front door - my handyman has been to check and it is working perfectly. There is masses of hot water as the tank is enormous so I'm not sure what the problem was with that. I hope that you enjoyed your stay despite your complaints and I apologise again that the hot tub wasn't available when you arrived.

Perfect rural escape

  • 5 of 5

This is our second visit to the Old Manse and it was just as special as the first. This is one of those places that you feel instantly at home in. The Old Manse sits opposite the church in this pretty hamlet and enjoys complete privacy with no other house or building overlooking the house and its garden. The location of the house, in the midst of glorious Perthshire countryside and yet just a few miles from the historic town of Crieff, would be hard to beat. We enjoyed numerous walks up into the surrounding hills, all straight from the house and rarely coming across another person. If anything, the description and photos online don't do justice to this exceptional place. Finally, Anne was the perfect hostess, responding in good time to all of our emails- nothing was too much bother for her. Once again, we would recommend the Old Manse wholeheartedly to anyone who wants to experience a beautiful family home in one of Scotland's most beautiful regions. We hope to return again next summer.

There is a wooden table seating 10/12 and at the far end a sofa and TV and DVD player. There is a laundry room (with WC off). A conservatory leads off the kitchen and it's a great place to relax in if the weather isn't warm enough to sit outside. Also on the ground floor is a double bedroom with a large ensuite shower-room. The dining hall has a dining room table and a piano (very out of tune though!) and there is another WC too. The sitting room has an open fire and superb views to the south. Upstairs is a large bedroom with a super-king bed and ensuite shower room; a smaller twin bedroom; a double bedroom with wash hand basin and fitted wardrobe; a large 4 bedded room with basin (2 of the singles are only 2' 6" wide). The family bathroom has a shower over the pea shaped bath and a separate WC. Outside: Large garden with table and chairs, BBQ, croquet set and other garden games, large trampoline and hot tub! All linen and towels are included plus logs for the fire (and electricity & central heating of course!). Free WiFi
