Le Gite Tranquille In Hamlet Location Surrounded By Orchards & Open Countryside

Updated: 18-Oct-2016
Le Gite Tranquille, in La Jousseliniere, Vendee, Pays de la Loire, France - Peaceful Location, With Activities Within 20 Minutes

Le Gite Tranquille is a comfortable two bedroomed cottage set in the small hamlet of La Jousselinière in the Vendee countryside.

The house is located on a quiet lane, with little passing traffic and has off-road parking.

The views from the cottage bedrooms are lovely - with an orchard of mature cherry and walnut trees set around a large lawned area.

The cottage has all mod-cons (Wi-Fi, dishwasher, washing machine) and is in a central location for many of the tourist attractions nearby. This is a great place to unwind from the stresses of everyday life - sunbathing in the private garden or exploring the country lanes nearby.

Inside, the ground floor is open plan with a living / dining room at one end and a fully equipped kitchen at the other. There is a TV with UK free-to-air channels, Wi-Fi internet connection and a bookcase full of books and games.

Upstairs there are two en suite bedrooms – one with a double bed and en suite shower room and one with two single beds and an en suite bathroom. A third single bed or cot can be added to the twin bedroom if required.

Outside is a patio set and dining table and chairs for al fresco dining. There is also a private lawned area with sun loungers. The cottage has views over the large garden and orchard – with boules court, table tennis and picnic areas.

The area has many good restaurants, many selling locally caught seafood or other Vendéen specialities.

There is reputed to be a micro-climate here, and the Vendee is the second sunniest part of France!

The owners live next door and are very friendly and enjoy meeting new guests and helping them to explore the area.

A lovely and well-equipped two-bedroom gite, with a very big and beautiful garden. The owners are extremely kind and helpful, and gave us exactly the right balance of hospitality and privacy. Very very highly recommended.

Would recommend the gite. Good relaxing break

  • 4 of 5

Gite facilities good, inside and out.

The owners are very friendly, helpful and will provide good recommendations for restaurants and places to visit if required. There are good guide books for the area at the gite.

Would recommend, especially for a quiet, 'get away from it all' break

Great Relaxed Break

Gite Tranquille, is aptly named, and is situated in a glorious part of the Vendee,

The owners Vicky and Martin, are very nice and friendly people and are there to advise or help if you wish, without being obtrusive.

The setting of this Gite is far from the rush and speed of modern life, with extensive gardens filled with fruit, walnut and various varieties of trees, great for all ages. The property was spotless and very comfortable.

We would not hesitate to revisit and stay again, and of course try Martin's homemade liqueur.

Gite Tranquille is a lovely cottage in the Vendee. Peaceful and sunny with a very warm welcome from Martin & Vicky, the English owners who are unobtrusively on hand with help and advice if needed. The cottage was very comfortable and well provided. The gardens are a delight and boules, table tennis and bikes all provided free of charge. The cottage is ideally located to explore the Vendee countryside. A trip to the coast at La Rochelle also possible within the hour. The Marais Potevin within easy reach. The wi-fi worked well .Lovely weather and a perfect location!

We had a super time at the Gite The hosts Martin and Vicky were extra special and were hospitable, friendly, informative and could not have done any more to make our holiday enjoyable. I would love to return and highly recommend it as a great place to stay. Very well appointed with lots of facilities and extremely clean. Plenty to see and do in the surrounding area but there are lots of places closed if you go too late in the season. I would like to return when all the attractions are open. Many thanks Vicky and Martin.

If you like it quiet with good accommodation, with the personal touch - look no further.

We had a Fab time with Vicky and Martin as hosts next door. The gite was just as described: clean, well furnished with every convenience, relaxing and highly recommended.

You did not need to travel far for shopping, eating, beach, etc. A beautiful area, rural but close to everything.

We had super weather for October - still warm enough to sit out in an evening.

Can not think or anything we would have wanted more.

Thank you so much - loved it

From the Owner

Martin and Vicky have been living in the Vendee for several years, and have been renting out their holiday home next door since 2010. Their reservations are managed by Annette & Jason Khan. Both Martin & Vicky love the country life - they have a huge allotment garden and orchard at their house, providing almost year-round supplies of fresh fruit and vegetables. Martin makes liqueurs from his fruit and Vicky loves preparing meals made from their home-grown produce. They have a wide circle of friends, and enjoy entertaining. Martin & Vicky fell in love with this property whilst holidaying in France with Friends who were house hunting and have never regretted it.

From the Owner

Martin & Vicky like the peace and quiet of living in the countryside, but with the ease of access to larger towns nearby with supermarkets, restaurants and entertainment laid on. The area has some lovely restaurants, and they can often be found enjoying a glass of the local wine whilst relaxing with friends over a gourmet meal in a nearby restaurant.
