House in Fontmell Parva, Nr. Shaftesbury, Dorset, England - Wonderful Views, Simple Luxurious Decor, 1 Hour To Beach, Amazing Walks & History On Doorstep

This comfortable and luxurious house is set down a secluded farm lane approx 1mile from the village of Child Okeford, half way between Shaftesbury & Blandford Forum and sleeps 6-8 people. With spectacular views in all directions and the sounds of nature all around it is a deeply relaxing and restorative place. Both inside and out, the house has been restored by the owner to a very high level, and the decor is one of calm, luxurious simplicity. All mod-cons from wifi to flat-screen TVs. Bathrooms are white porcelain & limestone and each have a bath and decent shower. The kitchen leads out onto the largest part of the garden, next to a stream with small footbridge (please note that young children will need to be supervised as the stream is not fenced). There is ample dining and seating both inside and out. The owner is a keen cook and the kitchen has all the gadgets you'll need and an American-style fridge & a drinks fridge. Two reception rooms downstairs, including a private study.

I have owned homes in Dorset for 14 years, and even though work and family life has taken me away from there for some of those years, I always come back to this beautiful area. Only 40 mins from the stunning Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage Site, and nestling near the foot of the famous Hambledon Hill, The Coachman's House is down a private farm track overlooking the most stunning parkland views and fields, with beautiful old trees and wonderful walks from your doorstep.

What makes this house unique

The popular village of Child Okeford (often wins best kept village) with its wonderful organic farmshop and village shop is less than 1/2 mile away, with its freshly baked bread and provisions.

Peaceful, elegant and great for families

What a wonderful house this is, situated on farm land on the edge of Child Okeford. Four of us (mum, dad and 2 boys aged 9 and 10) stayed for a week. The garden was a great size and the addition of a football goal ensured the boys got outside. The stream was also a good point of interest, especially when retrieving footballs. The house was clean and very comfortable. You really felt at home here. The bathrooms have great showers and the bathtub in the main bathroom was an added luxury. There we lots of nice touches too from delightful soaps and candles to sauces and herbs in the kitchen and home grown organic veges in the garden. I would love to live here forever!

Beautiful house in relaxed atmosphere

We stayed in The Coachman's House for a week with two family's and we had a great time: the atmosphere in and around the house is superb!! The garden is very big and has lots of places were you can sit or play. The children loved the tabletennis table, the chill garden furniture and we ate often outside at the big table with place for everyone (9 persons)! The garden is sheltered and therefor it looks like you are the only ones in Dorset! (And it is also in a dead end street, so very quiet and we loved that)

The house is very spacious and clean and the bedrooms are beautiful with very good beds and nice pillows, duvets and linnen. Lots of cupboard space. I want to mention the view from the master bedroom: waking up with thát view is waking up with a smile!

The kitchen has everything you need and more (!) to cook everything you want. We even made an high tea together for even more people.

So Janet really makes you feel at home in her beautiful house! Our expectations were exceeded! We loved to stay there, felt very much at ease and when coming to Dorset in the future we would certainly book it again :-)

Stylish comfort, beautiful landscape

This is a beautiful country house with large comfy sofas and a spacious layout. It is decorated in relaxing tones and finished to a high specification. There are picturesque views of the surrounding countryside from every window and visiting pheasants in the garden - we felt quite spoilt being there! We stayed in March and were a bit unlucky with the weather as local flooding meant that we weren't able to fully explore the countryside for a couple of days, but the great selection of DVD's and books helped to keep us entertained. When the weather improved we were able to explore the Dorset countryside and coastline, fully appreciating the great location of the house for sightseeing. We would definitely stay there again.

Simple luxury, blissfully quiet

This is a gorgeous family home yet also feels cosy enough if you are on your own or in a couple. The views in all directions are so wonderful that you feel you are almost outside even when you are inside! The beds and linens are wonderfully comfortable, the decor is gentle on the eye and you've got all mod cons. Although it's not far from the village, you feel like you could be in a much more isolated spot, which is really relaxing. The only other car you'll see will be the postman! This is hidden and fairly unknown part of Dorset and there are amazing walks right from the front door. Need I say more? This is a gem of a home!
