Why Jennifer Forman chose Oasis del Capistrano

We bought into the property at the start of 2013 having visited a couple of times previously. We absolutely love its location, the pools and the hours of sun on the terrace. We spend every summer here plus the occasional visit in April or May for the San Isidro festival!

What makes this apartment unique

NOTE: The pools are closed until end April 2018 for essential refurbishment and maintenance.

The Oasis de Capistrano is one of the most sought after residential areas in Nerja. It is beautifully well looked after with luscious gardens. We adore it! There are two main pools with a splash pool for children. You can easily go for a dip in the pool, then come back to your apartment and take in the rays on the terrace.

The terrace has fabulous views over the Oasis and as it's south facing, there are hours of sunshine right up to 7pm at night. It has one of the best terraces in the whole urbanisation!

We love sitting there with a glass of white wine, nibbling on some manchego and olives...

Terrace table, chairs, umbrella, storage box and sun loungers. The terrace is one of the best in the Oasis urbanisation with many hours of sunshine. Outside: The Oasis of Capistrano is the most sought after suburban area of Nerja set in palm-fringed and meticulously maintained gardens and amenities in a valley of unspoilt beauty and serenity. In the heart of the Oasis is a bar serving light snacks on the terrace beside the large pool, beyond which there is a smaller children’s pool. There is an additional pool about a minute’s walk from the apartment at 5a Las Palmas. The apartment also has an outside table; four chairs; sun loungers and umbrella beside the barbecue. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are provided for guests and the property is cleaned before and after every let. Should you wish to have your towels and linen changed during your stay, please let us know and we can arrange this for 35 euros.

Lovely well equipped apartment

We spent a very happy 4 weeks at this apartment situated in beautiful gardens about 20 minutes walk from the centre of Nerja. Jen and Gary left us a lovely welcome message and a bottle of sparkling wine...both were much appreciated. We had mixed weather with some days of very heavy rain but the apartment was very well equipped so we were very comfortable to stay in! We had access to BBC and Sky channels and also had wifi.There is a lovely sunny terrace, with table chairs and sunbeds, which has views of the sea and the mountains. There is a well appointed kitchen area off the main room with a washer which was useful for our longer stay. Jen and Gary sent us useful information before our stay and were happy to be contacted during our stay.

Small apartment for up to 3, in stunning location on the Oasis amid beautiful gardens with pools.

Basic accommodation, comfortable with everything you need for a quiet stay on the Oasis. Ten minutes walk to fantastic burriana beach, lots of cafés bars restaurants, and 30 mins walk to old town for traditional Spanish eateries and boutique shops.

Special interest holidays:

There are tennis courts less than 10 minutes walk away and lessons are available at the tennis club (next to the supermarket). Water sports, scuba diving, swimming, golf, horse riding, sailing and fishing can all be arranged locally.

Coast/Beach:

There are a number of excellent beaches, and the nearest and the best, Burriana, with many restaurants and shops is a 15-20 minute walk downhill through the avocado orchard or a very short drive. There is a path that leads from the house next to the aqueduct down to the beach - it's a bit scrubby going down but well worth it!

To the left of the Balcón de Europa is Calahonda beach which is relatively small, sandy and sheltered. We like this one too as you can see the fishermen unloading.

Travel:

The Oasis is approximately 45 minutes' drive from Malaga airport. Car hire is recommended and we can give advice on some of the companies we've used. Taxis can also be hired for around 70 Euros each way and there is a cheap and efficient bus service from Malaga Bus Station. The Oasis also has a local bus stop at its main entrance and when ordering a taxi, quote 'taxi point one'.

Distances:

The centre of Nerja is approximately 25 minutes' walk away from and there is also a bus and taxi stop at the entrance to the Oasis.

Frigiliana is a gorgeous hilltop village, only a few miles from Nerja. You can easily visit by car or get the bus from Nerja bus station.

The cuevas (caves), only a mile or so away, are a great half day excursion for all the family. Wear sensible shoes!

Further Details:

The charming town centre is within easy reach with its characteristic Spanish flavour of narrow streets, packed with shops, bars and first class restaurants. It is no wonder that people are so smitten with Nerja that they return year after year to savour its old Spain ambiance.

Restaurants are situated from the Plaza Cavana, past the church and the Balcon area, right around to Calle Pintada - all pedestrianised and really lovely. Some of our favourites include Sevillano (Spanish), Bella Roma (Italian) Frietkot (Belgian) and Restaurant 34 at the Hotel Carabeo for something extra special.

There are some lovely shops including La Cueva (clothes) which is down some steps near Bella Roma, Cascade Design (clothes) on Calle Almirante Ferandiz and Sylvie's (for jewellery) at fantastic prices on Calle de la Gloria.

And you must try Bar Redondo (or the round bar) on Calle de la Gloria for cerveza, cava and tapas. Lovely, informal bar for locals and tourists.
