Hartshill (sleeps 5+2) and Ribblesdale (sleeps 5+2) are adjoining stone-built holiday houses situated just a 10 minute walk from the centre of the thriving market town of Bakewell in the heart of the Peak District. The houses are well-equipped, centrally-heated and furnished to a high standard. Each house has free Wi Fi, off-road parking for two cars, well laid-out gardens with patio area and secure storage for bicycles and outdoor gear. Bakewell is the perfect base for a variety of activities, whether walking, cycling, visiting nearby stately homes (such as Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall) and other attractions, or just relaxing in wonderful peaceful surroundings. The town is full of character, with a wide range of shops, pubs, cafes, restaurants, parks and gardens and a large outdoor market every Monday, including Bank Holidays. Bakewell hosts a number of annual festivals, including the Bakewell Carnival, the Bakewell Show, the Bakewell Arts Festival and the Bakewell Acoustic Music Festival. Note that short breaks may be available at all times of year. Hartshill is a spacious end-terrace house with free Wi Fi. Downstairs there is an entrance hall, a cloakroom with WC, a dining/living room with French doors leading out to the patio and garden and a fully-fitted kitchen with integrated fridge-freezer, electric oven, gas hob, microwave and washing machine with drier. The lounge area has a three-piece leather suite and is equipped with a TV/DVD player with Freesat and a radio. The sofa is a sofa-bed and can sleep an additional 2 people by arrangement. Upstairs there are three bedrooms and a bathroom. There is a double bedroom with double bed and large built-in wardrobe, a double bedroom with twin beds, large built-in wardrobe and dressing table, and a single bedroom with a chest of drawers. The bathroom is fully tiled with WC, a bath with shower over, sink and shaving point. Outside there is a large rear garden with a patio area, secure storage for bicycles and outdoor gear and off-road parking for 2 cars.

August 2014: Thank you for a wonderful stay. Thoroughly enjoyed our week , beautiful, homely cottage. Lovely and clean. Everything we could ask for and more. Our children have loved being here, especially the surprise of the attic room to play in. Have visited some fantastic places again as we have been to Derbyshire several times now but we will certainly be returning to stay at “Ribblesdale”, it being a cosy place to come home to at the end of a busy day. Will definitely recommend also.

Cottage for divers visiting Holm Bank
The cottage was perfect for our needs. Needed something suitable for 3 divers with lots of kit, therefore the place needed to be spacious, have good parking, within walking distance to the town and easy access to the mine but most importantly warm. Upon arrival we were greeted and all our needs accommodated. Will definitely be using the cottage again on all future visits to Holm Bank.
Good property and location
Nice, clean, modern property with all required mod cons including excellent WiFi connection. Short walk (c. 10 mins) to town centre. Very pleasant and helpful owner. Recommend.
The house is absolutely lovely we work away all year round and try to stay in holiday lets like this one rather than bed and breakfasts and I can honestly say that is probably the nicest one we have ever stayed in
Beautiful, well equiped and clean cottages.
We rented these beautiful, well equiped, spacious, fresh, bright and very clean cottages last August. They are set in a tranquil location with a few minutes walk from the center of Bakewell. The gardens are lovely and the Wifi connection as a bonus was appreciated by all. Walks in the countryside are from the doorstep and amongst others we walked through the fields over to Lathkill dale where the views are outstanding. On the personal side we did miss and this for hygeinic means a dishwasher, we were full capacity for the cottages with a small baby and because we rented both cottages a gate in the garden would have been very useful. Having the attics was great for storage. All in all the cottages were a wonderful experience.

“When purchased, the properties were divided into ground floor and first floor flats. The idea was for our elderly mother to live in the ground floor flat while we would let out the upstairs flat. However, when our mother decided that she would move to a residential home we decided to convert the property into two, three-bedroomed houses and to let them out as holiday properties. This required complete gutting and renovation - a lot of work - and we finally opened for business in April 2011.”
Activity and Interests
The town of Bakewell is easy to find and may be approached from many directions, all of which are scenic routes in their own right. It is just over a 30-minute drive from junction 29 on the M1. The nearest train stations are Chesterfield (14 miles), Matlock (9 miles) and Buxton (13 miles). Manchester International and East Midlands airports are about an hour away. There are regular bus services from Chesterfield, Manchester and Derby.
Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, many delightful villages and fantastic walks are within a 10-15 minute drive. There are also good walks to do straight from the houses. Buxton is about a 20 minute drive and Alton Towers about a 50 minute drive.

Note that for Ribblesdale, the price is based on up to 5 people - for additional people, there is a 10% additional charge per person. We advertise late-availability offers, so please check our own website.
A non-refundable deposit of £100 for each week or part week is payable if the booking is made more than 6 weeks in advance of the start of your holiday. The balance is due 6 weeks prior to your holiday. Payment is required in full for bookings made within 6 weeks of the start of your holiday. Payment can be made by bank transfer or by cheque.

“The properties are only a short walk from the centre of Bakewell so are very handy for shopping and eating out in the evening without the need to use a car. Likewise, there are walks and cycle routes close by. Both houses have secure storage in the gardens for bicycles and outdoor gear so are ideal for those planning an energetic holiday whatever the weather! And both have off-road parking for two cars. As the houses are adjoining, they are perfect for larger groups (up to 14), or grandparents who like to holiday with their children and grandchildren but who also like some quiet time!”

- Notes on accommodation: Both houses have gas-fired central heating and double-glazed windows. Both houses are suitable for children and we can provide a cot and high chair at no additional cost. A selection of children's books, games and DVDs is also available. Bed linen, towels and tea towels are provided, also at no additional cost. These are changed weekly or at each changeover. Please note that in the interest of all guests, we have a no smoking policy and regret that no pets are allowed.
