2 Bedroom Apartment in Porthcawl, Wales - 8 Min Walk from A Blue Flag Beach

A 1st floor apartment situated in the quiet Rest Bay area of Porthcawl. The accommodation comprises of one double bedroom and one twin with 2 single beds. A comfortable sitting/dining room a well equipped kitchen and spacious family bathroom. The nearby beach (8 min walk), Rest Bay, is a beautiful, sandy, west facing, blue flag beach on the ‘Glamorgan Heritage Coast’. At just over a mile long it offers plenty of opportunities for all-weather surfing on one of South Wales best known surf spots, safe in the knowledge that during the summer months there is a manned life guard station. It is also excellent for beach casting for Sea Bass, ‘rock pooling’ or just relaxing. For the golfer the area is well catered with four excellent courses including The Royal Porthcawl, probably one of the best courses in Wales. The flat is perfectly situated to enjoy the nearby Kenfig Pool Nature Reserve with its lake and sand dunes. It is also not far to the beautiful Gower Peninsular and Brecon Beacons.

About Guy Morgan

I have been holidaying in Porthcawl since I was a lad. My grandparents had a house just down the road and holidays were spent on the beach rock pooling, building sandcastles and donkey rides, not much has changed! well maybe not so much sandcastle these days. I still love the beach and what ever the weather will go for a walk.

Having spent so many lovely holidays in Porthcawl as a child when the opportunity arose to buy a holiday place the natural choice was here. It's close to the beach and easy to get to.

This was a lovely spacious apartment and very well equipped. There is so much to do locally but very easy to go further a field to Cardiff, Swansea and the Brecon Beacons. Will be required visiting again soon!

Well equipped, great location

The flat is as described. We had a great few days here. The tea tray and wine was a lovely welcome gesture. We developed ourselves a nice loop to walk beginning by heading to Rest Bay to the right and walking along to the sand dunes, stopping for a cuppa at Malcs (unfortunately soon to close) and then continuing along the coast into town. We particularly enjoyed stopping for a drink at the harbour bar where the drinks weren't as expensive as the place suggested - although the food was out of our league - chips on the seafront was much more our thing. We then followed the coast back to the apartment - a standard walk of around 25 minutes. Nature reserves are nearby plus easy access to the Gower and Brecons. There's a fashion outlet, superstore and cinema around 15 away by car. Rest Bay was also popular with surfers.

We pretty much stayed in Porthcawl as we wanted a quiet few days but there are many possibilities

Nearest rail station at Pyle 4.5 miles, 10 min drive.

Swansea airport 25 miles, 42 minute drive.

Distances:

Nottage, with village store and two pubs. 4 min drive or 16 minute walk.

Porthcawl town center 4 minute drive or 20 mins on foot along the sea front.

Swansea city centre is 19 miles and a 30 minute drive.

Finally the capital of Wales, Cardiff is about 30 miles a 37 minute drive, but you can always catch a train from Pyle.

Coney Beach Fair

Coney Beach Amusement Park is at the heart of Porthcawl and sits on Sandy Bay, which is one of seven bays at this historical South Wales seaside town. The Parks’ own beach is nearly a mile long and a magnet for surfers and bathers alike with lifeguards on duty during the summer months and with donkey rides, bouncy castles and trampolines ideal as a safe family destination.

The flat is perfectly situated to enjoy the nearby Kenfig Pool Nature Reserve with its lake and sand dunes concealing the historic walled town of Kenfig. It is also not far to the beautiful Gower Peninsular or even the Brecon Beacons.

The Promenade Princess Road Train runs along the promenade from Rest Bay to Coney Beach throughout the summer.

McAthur Glen

Outlet centre next to Sainsbury’s at Bridgend. Lots of high street brands at reduced prices.

Odeon Multiplex at Bridgend next to McAthur Glen to finish of a days shopping with R and R!

Bridgend Farmers Market. The market is usually held on the fourth Saturday every month, from 10.00hrs to 13.00hrs and is held in the Awel-y-Mor senior citizens hall in Porthcawl.

A non refundable deposit of 15% to confirm booking and the remainder no later than 4 weeks prior to arrival. If the booking is less than 4 weeks then the full amount will need to be paid.

Changeover Day:
Change over day is Saturday. Departure is before 10.30am and Arrival after 4pm.

Notes on prices:
Prices are based on Saturday to Saturday week bookings. During the low season (Sept-April, not inc. Christmas) we can do mid-week breaks if you would prefer, (a minimum of 3 nights) Prices start from £45 p/n.
