Within a discrete small group of high quality properties a short flat walk from the centre of Samoens with its excellent bars, restaurants and amenities, Chalet Lys Martagon is a spacious and light chalet with 3 bedrooms which sleeps up to 9 people. The chalet provides a peaceful and calm base to return to after a hard days skiing, walking or cycling. The chalet has a garage for safe storage of skis, bicycles and other equipment. The private garden and drive are ideal for children to play. A south facing terrace can be accessed through the French doors leading off the open plan living area. A barbecue, and outside furniture are provided. The living area leads off an extremely well equipped kitchen and has a cosy wood-burning stove. The chalet has Wi-Fi and satellite TV (with both English and French channels), a BOSE ipod dock and play station 3 as well as a selection of books, games and DVDs and a filter coffee machine to be enjoyed by your family and friends.

About the Owner

We live in the UK with our two children. We both work and visit Samoens as a family to relax and unwind. Everyone knows its brilliant for skiing, what's less well know is the huge variety of Summer activities and quiet Autumn walking.

We first visited Samoens in 2006 and loved it so much we bought our chalet here. We have been coming here ever since and heartily recommend it. Our children love it both in winter for the skiing and in summer for the outdoor pool, lakes, adventure parks, rafting and climbing. Walking in the Autumn is particularly beautiful and very quiet. We love the many walking and cycling routes and the wonderful alpine village centre with its traditional shops, bars and restaurants.

Special interest holidays:

In the Summer and Autumn high alpine walking between huts, cycling and climbing including Via Ferrata are all available. There are also two parapenting schools and white water rafting on the Giffre river. The iconic nature reserve and waterfalls at Sixt Fer a Cheval are not to be missed in the summer.

Coast/Beach:

There is a beach and safe bathing area at Lac Bleu in Morillon and a grassed beach area at the Lac aux Dames in Samoens, though swimming is prohibited. Lac Annecy is an hour away and Thonon Les Bains on Lake Geneva about one hour and a quarter.

Travel:

Geneva airport is less than an hour away by car. Car hire is not essential but recommended in the Summer. Airport transfers can be arranged on request

Distances:

Historic Samoens village is 10 minutes flat walk from the chalet. Geneva is approx. 60 km with the other Grand Massif resorts of Sixt, Morillon and Les Carroz all within easy reach. Chamonix and Mont Blanc are 45 km from Samoens.

Further Details:

Samoens has 3 banks and two supermarkets within the village centre with a larger supermarket just outside the village. There are numerous excellent restaurants and shops. There are many sports shops for ski and cycle hire.

The village has an ice rink and there are several parapenting schools. The Base de Loisirs has an excellent outside swimming pool with tennis, table tennis, fishing, sailing, and adventure forest for the kids.

Concerts and entertainment are available throughout the Summer season. Weekly food, clothes and crafts market.

An initial deposit of 25% of the price is required to confirm the booking and can be paid in £ sterling. The balance is payable in Euros 8 weeks before arrival. 150 euros returnable deposit is payable on arrival at the chalet unless otherwise agreed with the owner. We will forward further details on booking.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is Saturday to Saturday although we can be flexible on this particularly during the summer months.

The chalet is in a quiet and peaceful location but is only 10 minutes flat walk from the beautiful village centre of Samoens. During the winter months the ski bus is just 150m away. There is immediate access to the local ski resorts (Samoens, Sixt fer a cheval and Morillon) and from these there are good links to Les Carroz and Flaine. The chalet is spacious and light and has Wi-Fi and satellite TV (with both English and French channels) that can be enjoyed by the whole family. Outside. The chalet has a garage for skis and bicycles. There is a private garden and drive, ideal for children to play on. Garden furniture and barbecue are available for the south facing terrace and the two balconies. Utility Room: Washing machine, ironing board, iron, clothes airer all provided stored in cloak room and adjacent hall cupboard. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bed linen, towels and tea towels are included in the price as is a welcome pack with some essentials and wine. One clean of the property is included at end of stay. Meet & greet and emergency call out is also included in the price. Other: The chalet has a garage opposite for ski storage and bicycles. Both balconies equipped with seating etc.
