An exceptional holiday retreat for our two-family holiday

  • 5 of 5

Ty Hapus was an amazing base for our Pembrokeshire holiday. The house itself was beautiful, comfortable and exactly suited to our needs with plenty of space for the children to explore and play. The hot tub was a great way to unwind at the end of each day's adventures, relaxing under a clear autumn skies. Brian made us very welcome from the moment we arrived and gave us some great local pointers. We're looking forward to going back again soon.

Beautiful house in a rural setting centrally located between St. David's and Newport

  • 5 of 5

We spent three nights here while walking sections of the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. The house is very comfortable, spacious, and light. It was just constructed/remodeled in the past few years and is very tasteful. It is necessary to have a car if you plan to stay here as all markets and eating (unless you cook in) options necessitate driving.

The owner was very accommodating & very helpful, he actually lent us 2 life jackets so we could go kayaking & gave us instructions of where to go. The cottage was fantastic & we thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay & would definitely go back on a return visit. Thankls again for making it so enjoyable.

An amazing 3 night stay with the family

  • 5 of 5

We were 7 adults and an 18 month little boy and we all had a great time at the cottage. It was immaculately clean and spacious and set in lovely surroundings. As we had a toddler with us we were quite content to be out walking in the day and get back to the cottage have a few drinks and bbq and the hot tub was most definitely a plus and we made use of it every evening. It was ideal for us to spend quality family time together and I would certainly recommend the cottage and hopefully we will go back there at some point for a repeat performance. Also a big thank you to Brian who made us feel welcome and provided us with local information.

Beautiful, clean, very warm and welcoming,

  • 5 of 5

we had a lovely , stop the world and get off stay. everything one could need was available. the hot tub was a lovely luxury, owners very friendly yet not intrusive we visited saint Davids and many beautiful local villages. we shopped locally , welsh cakes a must. we did not use the log burner as no starter wood was on offer or equipment to clean burner after use. also pack said use fire guard but could not be found, so we did not feel encouraged to make use of such a lovely feature. we did not need to use burner as cottage very warm but would of liked the experience as it was offered as a feature point. we were a little disappointed that the owner felt the need to lock the other two bedrooms, as my partner can occasionally snore and I would of used another bedroom, maybe offer a reduction, it would of been nice for us as adults to choose which bedroom we wanted to sleep in. maybe think about putting all the rules in the welcome folder instead of around the cottage, the basket which was over flowing with leaflets of activities and places of interest around was to much to even tackle maybe organise into a folder , which would encourage visitors to visit more places of recommendation . we will definitely recommend to family and friends. a beautiful, warm, inviting comfortable home.

Owner's Response: We did not use the log burner as no starter wood was on offer or equipment to clean burner after use. also pack said use a fire guard. The use of fire guard is managed on a case by case basis. We deemed its use not required since you were a party of two adults - should you have required it, it can be placed in the cottage. Regarding fire lighters, we find a used newspaper and matches very effective and much more cost efficient. Wood and fire cleaning apparatus were placed at the back door, on the Saturday morning under the porch to keep them dry after a request was placed by your husband. They should have been in the property prior you're arrival, however our cleaner forgot to place them there - a simple oversight, which we shall endeavor to ensure that this isn't repeated. We did not need to use burner as cottage very warm We always turn the heating on a few days in advance to make sure the whole fabric of the cottage is warm for your short break, my wife and the cleaner are meticulous in cleaning the cottage taking up to six hours each to clean thoroughly We were a little disappointed that the owner felt the need to lock the other two bedrooms The other two rooms are locked and this is reflected in the price paid for the long weekend break. Should you require use of them, a supplement can be paid. This is to cover the cost of cleaning and bed linen used. Should your party have been larger, the price point we would have asked would have reflected this. We shall make this clear at the point of booking / website. The basket which was over flowing with leaflets Our own personal experience has shown that organizing the leaflets into a binder often renders them left untouched. We prefer them to be in a basket, thus our guests can add and take way the flyer / leaflets as they wish. Thank you for your feedback. Constructive feedback is always gratefully received and we take onboard all points. We hope to see yourselves again.

Lovely cottage stay

  • 5 of 5

Highly recommend the cottage. It is in a brilliant location- quiet surroundings but only a short drive from some lovely places.

The cottage itself is beautiful- we loved the log burner and it was very cosy and peaceful. The hot tub in the garden was the best bit though!

Would love to stay here again, was a great weekend!

Location

From the Owner

We purchased this property in 1998 , it is next door to our cottage, we own all the land and we wanted to have a safe controlled environment for our then young children to play outside , it was in a terrible state so we carried minimal repairs and long let it knowing that we would in the future carry out a major rebuild at some time , that time came in 2012 when we finally received planning permission after five years of negotiating from our efficient proactive Pembrokeshire County Council ! This waiting time was used in fine tuning the layout of the cottage into an easy to move around spacious place. We totally rebuilt the cottage from the ground up incorporating many recycled materials from the original property and features that make it a comfortable place to stay, such as under floor heating to the whole of the ground floor, we have also landscaped the outside creating a private safe fenced area that children can play outside , this area is over looked from the conservatory so you can keep an eye on the children whilst you relax , there are apple trees and many other trees that we have planted to create windbreaks, I hope you will enjoy staying in the cottage as much as we have building it, take a look at our reviews for the comments our previous guests as left.
