About the property

Modern traditional style throughout, offering 4-5 bedrooms. With its unique layout this property can be ideal for 2 separate families or 1 large family or group of friends.

L'Oliveraie is in an ideal position to explore and enjoy both the mountains and the coast. There is so much to see and do in the Cote D'Azur from the glam of Cannes to Monaco, the variety of outdoor adventures such as climbing and rafting, seaside water sports, golf, vineyards, medieval villages and so on. Set in a large mature garden with many Olive trees and numerous other fruit trees, large sunny pool, comfortable shady BBQ area under the Mulberry trees, petanque games area, small gym, mountain views from the balcony, it is just as easy to enjoy the time relaxing at the villa!

The villa has electric gates opening from a quiet lane to the large car parking area, with flat easy access to the property.

The property is equipped with an integrated alarm system. Sonos speakers are built into the ceilings in the upper level rooms. There is a portable speaker for the lower level/garden. Portable room fans available if required.

This lower floor opens out to the garden, BBQ area (with outdoor sofa and arm chairs and large outdoor dining table) and the pool.

There is also a small gym with treadmill, kettle bells, fit ball, punch bag with boxing gloves, yoga mat etc.

The large swimming pool is equipped with an electric rigid cover. It is a saline pool system. It has a large sunbathing area with over hanging olive trees. The garden has a large area to run around and play. There are many fruit trees such as avocado, kiwi, cherry, grape, olive, plum, orange, lemon and many Provençal herbs throughout the garden.

The stretch of Rivera beaches can be reached in less than 40 minutes (Theoule Sur Mer/ Mandelieu/ Cannes/ Juan Les Pins/ Antibes/ Villeuneuve Loubet/ Nice).

The mountains are just a 20 minute drive with the closest ski resort only 50 minutes away.

Nice international airport is 30 mins drive. We also have a bus within 5-10 mins walk of the villa which can take you to Grasse or Nice and also stops at airport.

The local villages of Opio and Le Rouret are both in walking distance from the villa and offer restaurants, boulangery, supermarkets, post office, and a fabulous market shop selling only locally produced, seasonal, fresh produce, all untreated and unsprayed.

Opio has a top end Golf course, popular play park, tennis, and an open air amphitheater which has summer musical events. Le Rouret backs on to an enormous national park with fantastic hiking, plus a Michelin starred restaurant.

The well known and popular picturesque village of Valbonne is less than 10 minutes drive, with a big selection of cafes, bars, traditional French markets etc.

As well as the glamour at the coast, our surrounding inland areas offer endless varieties of enjoyment, from vineyards and perfume factories, to canyoning, biking and rafting, to name but a few.

We have had many successful years with happy clients renting villa L'Oliveraie.

About Katherine Craig-Cameron

Originally from England, we have both worked professionally in the Super Yacht industry and travelled extensively around the world, in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, crossing the Atlantic numerous times, and sailing through the Pacific. We have been lucky enough to experience many countries, villas and yachts, yet we both always felt a pull towards the South of France as an area for us to settle and put down our roots.

We initially rented a property in the area and after 8 months we discovered and purchased L'Oliveraie, with the large garden, peace and quiet, and the views being an immediate selling point. The villa itself, and the large pool, required some updating which we set about straight away.

Why Katherine Craig-Cameron chose Le Rouret

We were attracted to living somewhere with great views, the proximity to the mountains for day skiing, the beaches, great wine, food and warm sunny climate.

We can go day skiing in February on a Saturday and have Sunday lunch outside by the beach the next day!

The property was a successful summer rental property with the previous owners, with frequent repeat clients.

We have given it some much needed updating and modernisation and have continued letting it successfully for short term rentals

What makes this villa unique

L'Oliveraie is incredibly peaceful, and not over looked, yet it is not isolated, and is walking distance to some local amenities.

Our immediate area offers everything needed, from restaurants, wine bars, markets, play parks, close by river and mountain walks, skiing in winter season, beaches in summer season, horse riding, golf, adventure days on both water and land, shopping, vineyards, mountain villages, the glam of Cannes, Nice, Monacco, and of course sailing. Something for everyone all year round!

We have a relatively flat garden (with some terracing) great for children. Many properties in this region have steeper terraced gardens.

We have a large pool with a modern electric security safety cover recently installed. Sonos wireless sound system in many rooms. Modern kitchen.

The previous owners rented out this property successfully through the summer months with many repeat bookings, for several years.

It has now undergone many renovation and updating since we brought it. We have continued to rent it out succesfully for summer lets, and also to use it as our family home.

One family loved it here so much they came back to stay a second time, and then actually brought a house and have since moved to the area themselves!

Notes on accommodation: Car parking for 5 cars, leads to the upper floor entrance level. The main kitchen, dining room, living room, 2 bedrooms, bathroom, ensuite, balcony, and great views are on this upper level. There are a further 2-3 bedrooms on the lower floor, accessed via the internal stairs or externally from the garden. The lower floor also has a shower room, small kitchen adjacent to outdoor BBQ area, large playroom which can be used as a bedroom opens to the pool and gardens. As well as being ideal for a large family or group of friends, this layout can make it ideal for 2 families to share a holiday together, while maintaining some separation at the same time! The property is North facing, with lovely views of the mountains in the distance, and therefore does not tend to get too hot inside, unlike many villas, as the stone walls, stone floors and wooden shutters help it to stay relatively cool. There are portable room fans if needed however. The garden and pool get plenty of sun all day long. Outside: Large mosaic private swimming pool 10x5m, large corner steps for easy entrance, electric security cover (also helps maintain water temperature over night), large sunbathing patio surround with sun loungers and outdoor beanbags. Large gas BBQ with comfy outdoor 4 seater sofa and 4 armchairs, outdoor dining seats 10 shaded under large mulberry trees, trampoline, swings, petanque court, gym. Beautiful garden with many flowers and culinary herbs growing, plus mature fruit trees such as avocado, cherry, plumb, almond, kiwi fruit, grapes, figs, mulberries, lemons and several varieties of olive trees. The garden is peaceful and is not over looked. Electric gate entrance to the main driveway, ample parking space, flat, level easy access to the front door & to kitchen for shopping. Lower gate with key lock and additional parking, level access to the lower level of the property. Outside balcony opening from upstairs dining room and living room provides additional dining outside, stunning views. Utility Room: Large washing machine, large dryer, iron and ironing board, cleaning supplies, pool towels, travel cot and high chair if required (additional baby equipment available on request.) Portable electric Room fans. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linens are included, the property is cleaned prior to arrival and the garden and pool are maintained weekly. Additional cleaning during your stay can be arranged for an additional fee. Other: Playroom opening to garden (or bedroom 5) with DVD player Indoor dining adjacent to kitchen Outdoor play area. My partner and I brought our 3 daughters with their boyfriends, all of whom had recently finished University/A levels etc. The lay out of the place with a luxury master bedroom upstairs with a state of the art excellent kitchen, separate dinning room and large lounge along with terrace (with breath taking views) was ideal. Better still, there was plenty of room for all of them downstairs! The photos really don’t do the place justice, it also has an out door seating area, large bbq area with large table and the pool is great. The garden was much bigger than the photos suggest and the large trees provide privacy. Best of all, this was obviously someone’s home and was furnished and equipped accordingly. The owners gave very efficient instructions with people on hand when needed. It truly was the best family holiday we have ever had and would love to go back.

A fabulous holiay

The photos do not do this justice! A beautiful house in an ideal location.

The house has ample space and is beautifully equipped and furnished although also everything you could need for kids including toy room downstairs and a trampoline at the end of the garden. We even picked our own fruit!

Perfect for two families that can have their own floor and space but equally cosy for one. We enjoyed many a glass of wine on the balcony as the sun went down overlooking the most magnificent view of Gourdon and Opio. We look forward to going again soon.

Superb Accomodation

Car: necessary


30-40 mins drive to the popular beaches of Juan-les-pins, Cannes, Antibes, Cagnes-sur-Mer and Nice beaches.

Many other beaches nearby along the Côte d'Azur coast such as la napoule, theoule sur mer, st tropez, Monaco.

Hiking in immediate area is extensive, mountains, golf, tennis, outdoor adventure activities all nearby.


Nice Cote d'Azur airport is less than 30 minutes drive from the house. Car hire would be recommended. There is a direct bus link also.

Avignon airport and Marseille airport are around 2hrs drive.

Italian boarder is just 45 mins drive.


Opio and Le Rouret are 2 mins by car or 15mins walk from the villa with good restaurants in both and farmers shop, supermarket, bakery, green grocers, butchers, post office, hair and beauty salon etc. Hiking from Le Rouret and nearby Bar-Sur-Loup, La Colle-Sur-Loup, medieval village Gourdon, and other nearby villages. Opio play park is 5mins drive from the house along with the golf courses. Valbonne is less than 10 min drive with big Friday morning market, lovely pedestrian square with restaurants and shops in the old town. Grasse is 15 mins with perfumeries.

Many outdoor pursuits in the area- climbing, hiking, rafting, kayaking, zip lining, skiing, sailing, golf, horse riding, water park, outdoor adventure centre for little ones and for big ones, many lovely villages to explore, many coastal towns and cities along the Riviera to explore, and of course the beaches.
