Burford nearby- Beautiful Cotswold Stone Cottages In Peaceful Rural Location - The Stables Sleeps 6 in 3 Beds as Std. with Options for 10 or up to 13

Overview

Property

Updated: 25-Nov-2016
Popular Burford, Bibury and Bampton Near Cottages. Converted Stone Barns.

We offer flexibility, with the ability to offer one double room for short stays, up to accommodating a large party or extended families in both our cottages. We can offer any number of bedrooms up to a total of 8. Do ask advice if you need extra rooms or if you are unsure about anything. We want our visitors to be comfortable and fully understand what they are getting.

We have 2 cottages and a Guest Suite.

In the Stables, there are 3 bedrooms (a king, a double & a twin) to sleep 6. There are 2 sofa beds- 1 in the lounge and 1 in the twin room. There is also an optional internally adjoining bedroom, sleeping an extra 2 in with a king sized bed, an en-suite, a TV and seating area. The cottage can be hired as a 3 bed or a 4 bed cottage. A key will be provided for the 4th bedroom if required. This means that the Stables can sleep 10, plus a baby if both sofa beds and the 4th bedroom are occupied. We suggest however, that this would only work for short stays, due to limited space in the main lounge/ dining room for very large parties. The dining table extends to seat 8, with an extra table for a further 2 that fits at the end to bring the total seated up to 10. There are extra chairs provided. There is a breakfast bar for 2. The sofas will seat 5-6, but the extra chairs can be used and there is and seating in bedrooms. There are TVs with seating in the twin room as well as the 4th bedroom.

An additional separate double en-suite room (the Guest Suite) is available which sleeps 2, plus a third in a sofa bed. It can be hired on its own or with a cottage, allowing the Stables to sleep up to 13 in total using the sofa beds in the cottage, the 4th bedroom and Guest Suite, plus a baby in the cot. A further travel cot is available in the Guest Suite and there is a TV, fridge and basic cooking facilities, plus a small table and stools and a bean bag chair, which is useful if the sofa is in use as a bed. Again note the limitations of the Stables reception areas for this option, but a large party can work if for example eating out or visiting for a family gathering elsewhere.

The Granary has 2 bedrooms to sleep 4 (a double & a twin), but also has a sofa bed, so it can sleep up to 5. With the Guest Suite it can sleep 6 or 8 using the sofa beds in both the cottage and Guest Suite, plus a baby in the cot. Once again note the limitations of the lounge and dining room, which will extend to seat 6. There is also a breakfast bar for 2. The sofa and easy chairs will seat 5, but there are extra chairs and an easy chair in the double room for reading.

Together, the cottages are great for a large extended family gathering of 20 plus people, with family groups able to be socialise, whilst enjoying separate facilities.

There is a large games room with books and games, fitness equipment, darts, pool and table tennis. There is also an additional extra large washing machine and dryer in the games room, plus a chest freezer. It's a useful communal space.

There is parking for 7 cars between our 2 cottages, but we can provide over spill parking if needed, so there is ample space for large groups. There are gardens with seating and a stone built BBQ. You never have to worry about finding somewhere to park your car!

Our traditional Cotswold stone cottages are surrounded by open countryside in the stunning Shilbrook Valley. The historic towns of Bampton and Burford are less than a 10 minute drive away and the beautiful villages of Alvescot and Shilton are within a mile. Both these villages have terrific pubs which can be reached by public footpaths and bridleways. There are great opportunities for walkers and cyclists, both locally and throughout the region. The cottages are close to Burford, Witney Lakes and Lynham Golf Courses and there are horse riding stables near by. There are spectacular landscapes and wildlife for artists and photographers. Ty Nant Cottages are within easy reach of the superb shopping centres of Oxford, Cheltenham and Bicester Retail Village and just five minutes from the fabulous Cotswold Wildlife Park. Cogges Farm in Witney is close by, as is Blenheim Palace in Woodstock.

Although rural, local shops, restaurants and takeaways are 5 minutes away by car or 20 minutes on foot. Delivery services are available.

About the Owner

I live in the West Oxfordshire Cotswolds with my wife and three children. My wife and I both work, but really enjoy coming home to our converted 18th Century Barn in the parish of Alvescot. Most of our free time is spent ferrying our three children around West Oxfordshire for their sports, music and social commitments.

Perfect location, facilities & Owners

  • 5 of 5

This gorgeous property has everything you need & more. Extremely clean, tidy, well designed & decorated (loved the colour palate). It has so many extras not listed! Kids loved their bedroom - the whole property was better than the pictures. It's location is perfect for exploring & is less than a minute drive to Carterton which has Aldi, shops, pub etc

We were a family of 7 - myself, 4 kids (10,8,7 & 2) with their grandparents. The property can be configured many different ways. We had plenty of room & Justine is just fabulous to deal with. We took day trips to Warwick Castle, Bourton-On-the-Water, Cirencester, Whitney, Oxford & more.

Would recommend this property to everyone. So lovely.

Thank you Justine & Andrew.

Owner's Response: We are delighted that your family had a lovely holiday in our cottage, especially when you travelled from so far away to get here. It's so important to have good holidays especially with children, as life is so busy otherwise! It sounds like you really made the most of this area and what it has to offer, which is great news. Thank you so much for your very kind words and for being such easy guests throughout. It's really important to us to do our best for our visitors, so your review really heartening. All the best, Justine & Andrew

Lovely Cottage, great location

  • 5 of 5

We've just returned from a 2 night stay in The Stables. The cottage was as described and the layout was perfect for our group of 3 generations (the grandparents had the ground floor bedroom and shower room with the younger ones out of the way the upstairs!). Everything was very clean and the cottage was well equipped, the kitchen especially so. The only negative was the very noisy fridge! The children loved their bedroom and in particular the toy chests. In fact my daughter was most upset she couldn't take the toy cat home with her! The games room was a nice addition and had the weather been less favourable I'm sure we'd have spent longer in there.

The location was perfect and we spent a day at the Cotswold Wildlife Park (literally a 5 minute drive away) which was much larger than anticipated and a really good day out. We were 30 minutes away from Blenheim Palace so spent a day there also. Well worth a visit and we were very lucky with the weather as it felt like summer despite being the last day of October.

Would recommend the cottage to anyone who wanted a good base to explore this area.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind words, Kelly. We are delighted that you had such a good time and that everything was OK for you. We do apologise about the fridge. It's noisy when the freezer compartment is not shut, because it's working hard to stay cold enough- we have sorted that now. Thanks for alerting us to the issue. The Wildlife Park is a great day out. There are so many animals and the grounds are fantastic and the cafe is good. Our own children spent many a happy day there. Blenheim and Cogges Farm (in Witney) are great too. We do hope you will return soon.

Fantastic location, best of all worlds

  • 5 of 5

We had a spur of the moment decision to spend a few days around the Cotswolds. After a quick search of the internet we came across this property (The Stables).

The location is fantastic and you get the best of both worlds, you’re within a short drive from the Cotswold attractions, but you’re also only a few minutes away from the town of Caterton, so you can visit supermarkets, takeaways etc. if required. Around 30-40 minutes away you’ll find Bicester Outlet Village – nice but you may struggle to get the wife away from the place.

We can thoroughly recommend the cottage which has been tastefully modernised, absolutely all the facilities required to “live” were provided, be it a washer, dishwasher, microware, tin opener, coffee, tea bags, sugar, honey, DVDs and games for the kids (a nice touch) – the list is endless.

The games room was an added bonus.

If you do happen to have missed anything – the owner is on hand to assist/provide guidance etc. I’d also like to thank the owner for providing such hot weather (another nice touch). And the kids loved stroking and feeding the horses who were literally centimetres away from our front door.

Negatives - Small point - internet signal was weak, but that's partly to due with the thickness of the cottage walls. But if you persevere it will eventually work.

The summarise, all in all we had a fab relaxing time; book now and you will not be disappointed.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for your kind review- we genuinely appreciate the time you have taken to write such a positive and detailed review. We are truly glad you had a good time with your family and we do hope you will come back. It's strange how the wi-fi/ broadband has deteriorated since a high speed broadband was installed locally! The signal seems to be weaker and patchy. We are trying to organise a second router for the cottages to compensate, but it is proving complex. We have put in a signal booster for now. Thanks for the feedback- much appreciated. It's much better that we know about issues, so we can improve our service. Thanks again.

Location

From the Owner

We bought Ty Nant, our 18th Century gabled porch Cotswold stone barn as a complete wreck! Within two years we created a lovely family home and two beautiful holiday cottages. We have lived in the Cotswolds for nearly twenty years and love this area. The Cotswolds is one of the most beautiful parts of England with its green and rolling countryside and the charming stone cottages and pubs. It is a haven for walkers, cyclists, and those who just wish to relax in a charming country pub or restaurant. The historic cities of Oxford and Cheltenham are within easy reach, as are some of the most beautiful villages in England. Burford, Bibury, Broadway and the Barringtons are all worth visiting to experience the charm and tranquillity of the Cotswolds
