Additional detail on the Stables-
The Stables is a beautiful stone built Cotswold cottage with charm and character, exposed oak beams and stone walls. It has 3 bedrooms on 2 floors to sleep 6 as standard.
There is a fully equipped kitchen, with dishwasher and washing machine, plus a lounge and dining area with a table that extends to seat up to 10. There is a breakfast bar for 2.
There is a king-sized bedroom downstairs with a shower room/ wc and double and twin bedrooms upstairs with a family bathroom. There are 2 sofa beds for extra guests & a cot. One is in the twin room and the other in the lounge.
There is also an optional internally adjoining bedroom (the Hayloft), sleeping 2 with a king sized bed, an en-suite, a TV and seating area. The cottage can be hired as a 3 bed or 4 bed. A key will be provided for the 4th bedroom if required.
We offer flexibility, with the ability to offer one double room for short stays, up to accommodating a large party or extended families in both our cottages. We can offer any number of bedrooms up to a total of 8. Do ask advice if you need extra rooms or if you are unsure about anything. We want our visitors to be comfortable and fully understand what they are getting.
We have 2 cottages and 2 suites.
The Stables Cottage has is 3 bedrooms (a king, a double and a twin sleeping 6 as standard), with a shower room downstairs and a bathroom upstairs. It can be offered with the Hayloft to add a 4th bedroom, which can be interconnecting via the staircase area or locked off. See below. There are sofa beds in the lounge and in the twin bedroom too, both suitable for 1 extra. There’s a cot (in the twin although we have a travel cot, if you need a cot in a different room- please advise) and a high chair. However, we recommend that the cottage is only suitable for large parties using both sofa beds and the Hayloft, which could include 10 people, for short stays, due to the limitations of the reception area. The dining table extends to seat 8 and there’s a small extra table to add on the end to seat 2 more, plus a breakfast bar for 2. There are 2 sofas in the lounge area, but another sofa and TV in both the twin room and also the Hayloft, which also has a kitchenette and en-suite shower room.
The Granary Cottage has 2 bedrooms (a double and a twin sleeping 4 as standard), with one bathroom. There is a sofa bed in the double bedroom, suitable for 1 extra person and a cot (in the double, although we have a travel cot, if you need to put a cot in a different room- please advise) and a high chair. The dining room extends to seat 6 and there’s a breakfast bar for 2. The lounge has a sofa and 2 easy chairs and there is a reading chair in the double bedroom.
The Saddlery Suite is a separate double suite (sleeping 2 as standard), en-suite room adjacent to the Granary & Stables cottages, but not interconnecting. However, it can be interconnected with or locked off from the Hayloft, as there is a linking staircase. It has its own external access door. It has a seating area with a TV and sofa, which is also a sofa bed, suitable for 1 extra person. It also has a kitchenette and wet room. It has a ramped access and is wheelchair friendly. We can put a travel cot in there if needed- please advise.
The Hayloft Suite is a separate king suite (sleeping 2 as standard), en-suite room adjacent to the cottages. It can be interconnected with the Stables or locked off and similarly with the Saddlery, in both cases via a staircase. It has a kitchenette and a small adjacent seating area, with a TV and sofa, which is also a sofa bed, suitable for 1 extra person. It also has a shower room. We can put a travel cot in there if needed- please advise.
For short stays, when the cottages are booked and when guests are unable to find other accommodation, perhaps at short notice, we do offer an extra room adjacent to and accessed via the Saddlery. It can be set up as a single or twin, so larger parties can stay even when the cottages are booked. If you wish to consider this option, let us know.
We can sleep 14 as standard in the 2 cottages and 2 suites, plus 2 in the extra twin. In total there are 5 sofa beds, so we can sleep up to 21 with all units, all sofa beds and extra twin in use. Sofa beds are £25 per night. Cottage and suite rates are as quoted and vary seasonally. Pet supplements are £30 per pet total.
We have tried to be as flexible as possible in terms of the party size we can accommodate and in providing a space where extended families or friends can get together, but enjoy some separation. At the same time, we can accommodate a number of separate groups.
Together, the cottages are great for a large extended family gathering of 20 plus people, with family groups able to be socialise, whilst enjoying separate facilities.
There is a large games room with books and games, fitness equipment, darts, pool and table tennis. There is also an additional extra large washing machine and dryer in the games room, plus a chest freezer. It's a useful communal space.
There is parking for 7 cars between our 2 cottages, but we can provide over spill parking if needed, so there is ample space for large groups. There are gardens with seating and a stone built BBQ. You never have to worry about finding somewhere to park your car!
Our traditional Cotswold stone cottages are surrounded by open countryside in the stunning Shilbrook Valley. The historic towns of Bampton and Burford are less than a 10 minute drive away and the beautiful villages of Alvescot and Shilton are within a mile. Both these villages have terrific pubs which can be reached by public footpaths and bridleways. There are great opportunities for walkers and cyclists, both locally and throughout the region. The cottages are close to Burford, Witney Lakes and Lynham Golf Courses and there are horse riding stables near by. There are spectacular landscapes and wildlife for artists and photographers. Ty Nant Cottages are within easy reach of the superb shopping centres of Oxford, Cheltenham and Bicester Retail Village and just five minutes from the fabulous Cotswold Wildlife Park. Cogges Farm in Witney is close by, as is Blenheim Palace in Woodstock.

I live in the West Oxfordshire Cotswolds with my wife and three children. My wife and I both work, but really enjoy coming home to our converted 18th Century Barn in the parish of Alvescot. Most of our free time is spent ferrying our three children around West Oxfordshire for their sports, music and social commitments.
Andrew Garbutt purchased this cottage in 2008
We bought Ty Nant, our 18th Century gabled porch Cotswold stone barn as a complete wreck! Within two years we created a lovely family home and two beautiful holiday cottages. We have lived in the Cotswolds for nearly twenty years and love this area.
The Cotswolds is one of the most beautiful parts of England with its green and rolling countryside and the charming stone cottages and pubs. It is a haven for walkers, cyclists, and those who just wish to relax in a charming country pub or restaurant.
The historic cities of Oxford and Cheltenham are within easy reach, as are some of the most beautiful villages in England. Burford, Bibury, Broadway and the Barringtons are all worth visiting to experience the charm and tranquillity of the Cotswolds
Burford with its historic and famous High Street is one of the "must visit" places in the Cotswolds with its impressive Church and quaint shops, restaurants and pubs. Other villages worth visiting include Alvescot, Shilton, Swinbrook, Chipping Norton, Clanfield and Lechlade.
There are spectacular landscapes for artists and on wet days an outbuilding is available for indoor painting. Burford, Witney Lakes and Lyneham Golf Courses are all within easy reach and there are other leisure facilities at Carterton, Chipping Norton and Witney.
The world famous Cotswold Wildlife Park is a five minute drive away and the Cogges Farm museum is a twenty minute drive. Blenhiem Palace and the village of Woodstock is a twenty minute drive away
We booked the Granary for 3 nights to use as a base for our Burford wedding at The Bay Tree Hotel.
The owner Andrew was very welcoming on our arrival, helping us to settle in. We really enjoyed using the games room the evening before the wedding, and it was lovely to have a family meal all together, we felt totally at home. My Mum stayed in the guest room upstairs which she thought was beautiful (the access is still in progress but we were so grateful that the owners could accommodate us with the extra space).
On the morning of the wedding it was lovely to have all of my bridesmaid arriving to have our hair and make up done. Everyone thought the surroundings with the horses right outside were absolutely stunning. I've always loved horse riding, and they all thought it was a lovely coincidence. But it wasn't a coincidence, actually, it was a big factor in booking the property as I'd read about the horses in the reviews and knew I had to stay here!!
The day after the wedding it was lovely to return to the cottage to relax and open all of our gifts and cards. We used the local supermarkets and ate in.
The facilities such the underfloor heating, the dishwasher and the washing machine (including all the tablets and cleaning products you need) were fantastic. There's access to lots of sheets and towels, you really don't need to pack much to stay here!
I 100% recommend this property and I really hope that one day we'll be able to return and spend more time at the cottage and in the surrounding areas.
Many thanks to Andrew, Justine and Ellen for such an enjoyable, friendly, professional and stress-free experience, from the booking to our stay.
We stayed one night at the Cottage. Though it was a short stay, the whole family loved the serenity of the place where we had our first experience living in an English country cottage. The cottage was very clean, well furnished, and there was also a small gym and pool table where my son really enjoyed spending time there. Andrew, the owner was very nice. We reached the place very late. We couldn't find the entrance to our cottage as it was already dark, and Andrew was kind enough to lead us to our cottage. The only regret we had was we didn't spend enough time there. We would love to stay again one day.
This gorgeous property has everything you need & more. Extremely clean, tidy, well designed & decorated (loved the colour palate). It has so many extras not listed! Kids loved their bedroom - the whole property was better than the pictures. It's location is perfect for exploring & is less than a minute drive to Carterton which has Aldi, shops, pub etc
We were a family of 7 - myself, 4 kids (10,8,7 & 2) with their grandparents. The property can be configured many different ways. We had plenty of room & Justine is just fabulous to deal with. We took day trips to Warwick Castle, Bourton-On-the-Water, Cirencester, Whitney, Oxford & more.
Would recommend this property to everyone. So lovely.
Thank you Justine & Andrew.
We've just returned from a 2 night stay in The Stables. The cottage was as described and the layout was perfect for our group of 3 generations (the grandparents had the ground floor bedroom and shower room with the younger ones out of the way the upstairs!). Everything was very clean and the cottage was well equipped, the kitchen especially so. The only negative was the very noisy fridge! The children loved their bedroom and in particular the toy chests. In fact my daughter was most upset she couldn't take the toy cat home with her! The games room was a nice addition and had the weather been less favourable I'm sure we'd have spent longer in there.
The location was perfect and we spent a day at the Cotswold Wildlife Park (literally a 5 minute drive away) which was much larger than anticipated and a really good day out. We were 30 minutes away from Blenheim Palace so spent a day there also. Well worth a visit and we were very lucky with the weather as it felt like summer despite being the last day of October.
Would recommend the cottage to anyone who wanted a good base to explore this area.
We had a spur of the moment decision to spend a few days around the Cotswolds. After a quick search of the internet we came across this property (The Stables).
The location is fantastic and you get the best of both worlds, you’re within a short drive from the Cotswold attractions, but you’re also only a few minutes away from the town of Caterton, so you can visit supermarkets, takeaways etc. if required. Around 30-40 minutes away you’ll find Bicester Outlet Village – nice but you may struggle to get the wife away from the place.
We can thoroughly recommend the cottage which has been tastefully modernised, absolutely all the facilities required to “live” were provided, be it a washer, dishwasher, microware, tin opener, coffee, tea bags, sugar, honey, DVDs and games for the kids (a nice touch) – the list is endless.
The games room was an added bonus.
If you do happen to have missed anything – the owner is on hand to assist/provide guidance etc. I’d also like to thank the owner for providing such hot weather (another nice touch). And the kids loved stroking and feeding the horses who were literally centimetres away from our front door.
Negatives - Small point - internet signal was weak, but that's partly to due with the thickness of the cottage walls. But if you persevere it will eventually work.
The summarise, all in all we had a fab relaxing time; book now and you will not be disappointed.
