About the property

Luxury fully air conditioned converted watermill with heated pool

CANCELLATION WEEK COMMENCING 12 08 2017

One week has become unexpectedly available in the entire season.

For many people their perfect home, Moulin de Bordes is a superbly equipped, fully air conditioned house which enjoys a first class location, 8 minutes by car to medieval Caylus with bars, restaurants and market, and just 15 minutes drive to delightful Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val, voted this year one of France's 3 top towns.

The mill overlooks a quiet walking route in a walkers' paradise. Grounds, garden and pool are totally private, nothing is shared. There are two hugely popular 5 star rated restaurants to visit, each only ten minutes away - or if you prefer to stay at home you can always barbeque your own rainbow trout, fresh from the mill’s well stocked private lake.

Here is an intensely soporific world, famous as a nature haven and site of special scientific interest, home to Europe’s largest concentration of watermills, some of them dating back to the middle ages.

Officially a natural area of ecological fauna and flora, the Bonnette Valley is populated by deer, red squirrel, grey heron, kingfishers, otters, wild boar, foxes, hoopoe, horseshoe bats. The range of brightly coloured butterflies and dragonfly is breath-taking. Each day brings something fresh to see.

Best Holiday Ever! From Grace age 9 and Evie age 6

Review Submitted: 23 September 2012. Date of Stay: September 2012

We travelled to this beautiful property with our daughter, son-in-law and 2 granddaughters aged 6 and 9 to be greeted with an excellent 4 course meal and wine - wonderful after travelling. The location is perfect and so tranquil.

The three double bedrooms all have en-suite showers and nice little touches like a hairdryer in each one plus hand wash. We all found the pool fabulous especially the children who were able to practice their swimming and diving.

If you can drag yourself away from the pool there are some lovely walks nearby.

If we can fault this holiday in any way it was that we were not there long enough and the house is not big enough for 12 people - because the rest of the family would love to join us there! All round, a five star holiday.

There is extensive decking around the pool where you will find eight lounger chairs. The terrace is gated for child safety. The 10m x 4.5 x 1.30 infinity salt system pool is unique in the world. It lends swimming an incredibly open feel by giving the appearance of joining the river, whilst in reality the river flows under the pool and house. The pool is serviced by a pump so powerful it has more the buoyancy of the ocean. Four children so far have swum unaided here for the first time. Attractively constructed in stone the pool has a smooth base with easy access via six large corner steps. . For your health and comfort PH and salt (chlorine) levels are monitored and adjusted automatically. Utility Room: Twin sinks, electric kettle, washing machine, tumble dryer Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towel sets, pool towels and linen are included. A change of bed linen is provided free of charge. Maid service is available for an additional charge. Other: On the first floor is the open plan kitchen with breakfast table and dining room with lounge seating for four and table to seat eight persons. Reversible air conditioning makes the house deliciously cool in summer and comfortably warm in late autumn.

Magnificent!!!

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely fabulous house and location - cannot fault it at all

Visited for 2 weeks in July 2016 with #1 teenage daughter and her friend which meant there was a free bedroom, not that it was needed as there was plenty of space for us.

Whilst the house is fantastic the grounds are even better, totally private, secluded and peaceful yet within easy travelling distance of activities including theme parks, water parks and walks etc.

The only slight downside to all this peace and tranquility is that you need to drive everywhere as nothing is within walking distance, however, for us this was a price certainly worth paying.

Le Grange restaurant is 5 minutes drive and highly recommended, the food was the 2nd best we ate and worth every penny just to have an evening with the owner who is "entertaining" - there were also a couple of cracking eateries in the nearby town of Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val

The owners, Steve and Sue, live nearby and were always on hand to provide info and tips - although they have said they don't do it anymore, I would try and sweet talk Sue into providing a first night meal - it would be the best money you had spent on any meal!!

In answer to the standard questions -yes the house was clean and well maintained, Steve and Sue provided excellent customer service, the house is exactly as described and we would have no hesitation in recommending moulin de borde to anyone, not just family and friends.

Excellent

Idyllic holiday

  • 5 of 5

What a gorgeous place for a holiday. Absolutely idyllic and peaceful. The house had everything we could have needed for our party of eight adults and the beds were super comfortable. The owners were very friendly and helped us when we needed help.

Thanks once again.

Debbie Allberrey and family.

SUNNY APRIL WEEK

  • 5 of 5

It was an absolute delight to stay in your beautiful watermill and we have thoroughly enjoyed our week. The weather has been amazing with clear blue skies for much of the time.

We made the most of the area exploring many places nearby as well as others further away, such as the castles of Lastours and the city of Carcassone.

Once again, thank you for such an amazing place to stay. It has been perfect for our two families.

Heavenly!

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from 2 wonderful weeks at Moulin De Borde. We drove down from Calais, spending Friday night in Chartres as a midi stop and were greeted on Sat afternoon with a delicious home-made meal and a much needed bottle of wine on our arrival. The Mill has been beautifully renovated and you can really tell that it has been a labour of love. It has EVERYTHING you could possibly need and more! Comfy bedrooms and all the mod-cons... The grounds were delightful and the children (11, 9 and 5) loved to explore around by the pond - frogs, pond skaters, tadpoles, beautiful dragonflies... the list goes on! The swimming pool was fab - I think the children spent most of their time in it - and my husband and I spent many leisurely hours with a bottle of wine and a game of scrabble on the lovely terrace overlooking it all... We all took our bikes and enjoyed cycling around the valley (a great way to knock the kids out for bedtime!). We had lots of lovely days out in the region (Najac and Belcastel our faves!) and Steve provides an excellent guide to the area for you which covers just about every interest! The owners are lovely people and there to help should you need anything at all. We highly recommend it and look forward to the opportunity to go back. Thank you for having us!!

A LOVELY RELAXING WEEK

  • 5 of 5

Back at work for one day and already France seems like a distant memory.

We had a really lovely relaxing week at the mill. The peace and tranquility of the area with the sound of running water in the background was truly soporific and relaxing, the only other sound coming from the bells around the necks of the distant goat herd.

The mill is comfortable, well equipped and we really appreciated the provisions, including pool towels. Your conversion is a work of art, done with quality materials and attention to detail. It's the little things that make such a difference.

The boys much enjoyed the local wildlife, with the myriad of butterflies and fish, but especially enjoyed the crystal clear waters of the swimming pool.

Thanks for a great holiday. You've created something very special. We hope to return....there's so much more to see.

With every best wish,

The McClure family.
