The house sleeps 10 in 5 separate bedrooms. It is set in 4 acres of gardens with numerous trees (including plum, cherry and apple) and a lovely 12m x 6m heated swimming pool surrounded by patios with plenty of sun-loungers and a table-tennis table. There is also a petanque pitch with boules provided.

About Jonathan Hallam

We are an English family with 2 children, now teenagers. We bought the house 10 years ago as a holiday home primarily with letting only a secondary objective.

This is very much our home from home and we have spent much happy time here as well as considerable care and improvement to the property.

Notes on accommodation: The upper floor retains the character of the original farmhouse with wooden beams and a large open fireplace. The sitting room is spacious with large comfy leather sofas and is open-plan with the dining area which has an oak table to seat 10. The dining area has large French doors leading onto a covered balcony overlooking the gardens. A few steps down lead to a sunny patio area with steamer chairs to relax in and a covered dining area (ideal for al-fresco lunch) adjacent to a built-in barbecue. The teak dining table extends to seat 10. The 3 bedrooms on the upper floor are simple but roomy, all with oak flooring fitted 2013. The lower floor also has a large sitting room with 3 double sofas (2 are sofa-beds), TV/DVD and table-football. There is a separate kitchen/diner with hob, combi-oven and fridge/freezer - handy for cold drinks since this is adjacent to the poolside patio. A table-tennis table is stored by the patio which is south-facing so very sunny. Outside: The grounds extend to 4 acres in total. 2 acres around the house with numerous fruit trees and lawns; 12m x 6m heated swimming pool with large surrounding patio; numerous sun-loungers; table and parasol; petanque pitch (boules provided) with table and chairs (for aperitifs!); upper patio area with covered dining area (table seats 10) and built-in barbecue. 2 acre field suitable for rounders and other games. Utility Room: Washing machine; tumble dryer; double sink; ironing board. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Fresh towels and linen are supplied at the start of each booking. For longer stays, additional fresh linen and cleaning can be arranged at extra cost. Other: Study (upper floor) with desk and Wi-Fi leading onto balcony overlooking the pool area. Baby's cot also stored here.

Further Details:

There are public tennis courts both in Montaigu and in Toufailles (approx. 10 mins). Montaigu has a "leisure lake" with a "beach" pedalloes and canoes plus a bar/café.

Montaigu has a couple of bars/tabac; a pizzeria; and two other restaurants. Roquecor and Miramont (approx. 10 mins) both have good bar/restaurants.

The area is renowned for confit de canard, foie gras, pruneaux and Cahors wine. Many vineyards in the vicinity (particularly on the road to Cahors) are open for tasting.

There are many "bastides" (fortified hill-top villages) dating from the middle-ages and the 100-Years War to visit - Monpazier being one of the nicest.

There are a couple of outdoor go-kart tracks near Agen. To the north of Fumel is an adventure park (Parc en Ciel) which is like an assault course suspended on wires high amongst the trees with long zip-lines - excellent for kids/teens.
