About Jorge Lozano

We are Jorge and Reme, a couple and both Spanish. He is teacher of History and I am Labour Adviser and we are working in Málaga.

We love mountains, nature, hiking, cycling, nice architecture and enjoy outdoors that's why we spend a lot of weekend and short period in Capileira.

Also we are learning English language, so that's why we like to travel to Ireland and UK.

Jorge Lozano purchased this house in 2003

Why Jorge Lozano chose Sierra Nevada Area

Jorge visited La Alpujarra 30 years ago with his friends walking through the mountains and he fell in love when he saw the villages and its culture. When we started as a couple, we used to go a weekend every month because it is a paradise. In 2003 we sold a land in Málaga and we could at last buy our house in Capileira, our favorite village in La Alpujarra.

Capileira is the most picturesque village in the high Alpujarra. It is located at the foot of Mulhacen Peak with a singular and unique architecture. The exciting and cultural city of Granada and the coast can be easily reached in an hour by car. Although public transport is available with two buses a day for/from Granada.

What makes this house unique

Our house is over 200 years and it is situated in the centre of Capileira, near to the church, with good access to the square, shops, bars and the car park, however it is a quiet street because cars are not allow. The house has been refurbished retaining the original character with all our care and love during two years. We enjoyed buying original pieces from different countries and culture to decorate the house.

Now it is a genuine and traditional house which has a special charming because it offers the taste of country living with all mod cons. It is completely legal to rent it with Tourism Department with this number Reference VTAR/GR/00496.

Carmen, my best friend in Capileira, and she is taking care of it and she is on hand if visitors need something.

Beautiful authentic Alpujarran mountain village home

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed this house enormously. It has been renovated simply and sympathetically, giving a real taste of traditional Alpujarran mountain living. The February evenings and nights are cold: we loved having the log fire burning. There were 4 in our party (2 adults, 2 kdis), which worked really well. With larger numbers, pressure on the bathroom and hot water system might feel a bit much. The location in Capileira is perfect: a quiet picturesque steep narrow street, just a few moments' walk from shops and restaurants, and from hiking trails into the stunning surrounding countryside. We very much hope to stay here again.

Charmed!

  • 4 of 5

Capileira truly is a most picturesque village and I have returned there on a number of occasions, usually staying in hotels/hostels. This summer my family and I decided to rent a house. This proved to be an excellent decision and added enormously to our enjoyment of the place. This charming house is very tastefully refurbished, blending modern conveniences with original character. It is very centrally located, beside a shop and close to the village square, where we spent some very pleasant evenings. We were met on arrival by the caretaker, who lived nearby so we were relaxed in the knowledge that should we have any problems, help was at hand! I look forward to returning there and have no hesitation in highly recommending it.
