Luxury Private Villa with 15mx6m salt Pool. Private Setting with Panoramic views

Overview

Property

Updated: 08-Oct-2016
Villa nr Bagnone, Massa Carrara Prov, Tuscany and Florence, Italy - Peaceful Loc. 5 Mins to Bagnone, 35 mins to Lerici and easy access to the Cinque Terre

The house is set on the hills in front of the Apuan/Appenine mountains in Lunigiana in the Northern tip of Tuscany. Access is via a private road and the property is set in 3 hectares of land providing complete privacy. The land beyond is predominantly woodland. The house was built 8 years ago using traditional methods. The roofs are constructed using chestnut beams. The floors downstairs are stone and upstairs are solid oak. All the doors, shutters and staircase are hand-made. The pool is salt-water and is 15m x 6m. The automatic top can be closed in the evenings to retain the water temperature overnight. The depth is c.1.10m in the shallow end and c.2m in the deep end with a diving board. In addition to the terraced area surrounding the pool there is in total 200+ sq.m surrounding the house, ideal for relaxing and dining. The house has a fast speed internet connection via a fixed cable or wireless. There is Italian Sky including sport and the option to change the language on a no. of programs.

The table tennis table and table football ensure that there's something to do in between relaxing and relaxing!

Days out can be spent walking, in the mountains, visiting festas or trips to the coast including Lerici, Forte dei Marmi and Viareggio. For day trips to the Cinque Terre we recommend the train from Villafranca which goes direct. A fantastic day trip is the 9.14 a.m. direct to Monterosso, a walk around the town, lunch at one of the many restaurants or our friends restaurant on the cliff tops then take the boat back to La Spezia. An aperitivo in the town then the train back to Villafranca.

About the Owner

The walk through the woods, the rickety gate, the 210 degree view and the old barn was the place i fell in love with in 2004. I subsequently built the villa, cleared the land, planted the vines and olives and now live and work near to the property. The experience has given me the chance to meet many people in the area and sample food in the local restaurants which i am happy to book on your behalf. I can also organize daily trips and I am on hand to help in any other way in order to make your time in Lunigiana as special as possible.

Best

p.s. the picture was taken in Lucca on a rare day off! A beautiful city

Private Luxury Estate

  • 5 of 5

I booked this beautiful place as a surprise for my husbands birthday. (5 adults and 3 children plus guests). My criteria were: private, luxury, pool, spacious (outdoor and indoor) barbecue and a view. I needed at place for children and adults to have a great holiday.

As a first time booker of private holiday homes, I must admit I was a bit nervous what would be awaiting. Everybody knows pictures can be deceiving. But every single bit of my doubts were put to shame when we arrived at this estate. It was simply just breathtaking. Every where you turn, you have the view of the amazing mountains - even from your bathroom window.

Having your morning coffee on the terrasse is simply amazing, cause you are surrounded by a 280 degree mountain view and silence.

All bedrooms are carefully decorated and all have beautiful bathrooms with high quality materials. The big kitchen/dinning area is inviting to conversation and cosy times. The house has L shaped terrace with a complete outdoor dinning area and a lounge area where you can see the sun rise and set over the mountains while enjoying your coffee/glass of wine.

As the cherry on top, the owners are welcoming and beyond helpful. (fx we had bought these air pool toys for our boys, but neither of us had the desire or lunges to blow them up, and vupti within the day David came with a pump :)

So in a nutshell, If you are looking for a completely private, high scale original detailed holiday house with a amazing view and space, well here it is. You will not be disappointed

Thank you again David, Ana and Jimmy for making the surprise birthday party and our holiday a time we will remember !

Sincerely,

The Dahl Tomasson family and friends

Wow - what a great place

  • 5 of 5

Just perfect! The villa is as described - luxury, incredible views and the best pool any of us (8 friends) have had on any other holiday - and with a diving board. The villa is on the side of a mountain and gives the sense of a real escape but also only a 10 minute drive to amenities in Bagnone, with train station for day trips (although we only left the villa one day and ate out one night - we didn't want to leave!). Everything about the villa is all to such a high standard, beyond 'home from home' - there has been such attention to detail in the design and fittings and the villa just has such a lovely feel - helped by the stunning views from all rooms and the sweeping terrace (with huge bbq). If the villa wasn't enough, David the owner was awesome, really helpful with tips for the area, booking the one restaurant we did eat at and generally ensuring we had such a great holiday. We were 8 friends (aged 26/27) but I also think this villa would be ideal for families (great pool, ping pong table). I have already recommended to lots of people and can't imagine why anyone would not love this place!

Fantastic

  • 5 of 5

Fantastic is just one of the words to describe this magical villa on the hillside.

We stayed as two families in the villa, over the years we have done lots of villa's around the world and this one stands out from the crowd.

The inside is immaculate and everything is provided to a very high standard, lots of space, beautiful rooms with lovely quirky decor, even down to a supply of red wine was on offer.

Outside, the gardens are beautiful and a lovely place to sit, the kids enjoyed the amazing (huge) pool. There are lots of areas to explore or just sit and drink wine.

For us the weather wasn't very good, but David (owner) and family made sure we had plenty of wood for the open fire, thick duvets on the beds and gave us details of things to do near by or see. Nothing seemed to much trouble for them to make sure our holiday was a relaxing time.

Thank you David and family for a wonderful stay and we wish you all many years of success with the Villa in Aria. We do hope to return one day.

Ludicrously good

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful as ever, but lots of additions and improvements since our last stay in 2013. We hadn't realised how great the weather could be in this part of Tuscany after the main holiday season. (Imagine the perfect high summer's day in the UK and that's what we had here in late September).

The fresh vegetables from the garden were a revelation - a lunchtime salad with pomodori and a barbecue with grilled aubergine both picked minutes before. Then picking fresh grapes from the vineyard, followed by a swim to cool off, then a trip to one of the many excellent local restaurants. Bliss.

Owner's Response: Andy. Its always a great pleasure to welcome you all to Italy. Your thoughts and feed-back in the early stage of our project have been invaluable and have in principle guided us to where we are today. I hope you can make the olive picking season this year and thanks for helping us last year with picking the saffron. We have increased production once again this year due to the natural growth of new bulbs from the existing stock. You know what's coming next!!! Do you fancy some early morning flower picking and a day by the log burner picking out the stigmas with the odd glass or two of Sfuso?? Best David & Ana

A Lunigiana gem with charm, beauty and serenity!

  • 5 of 5

The first thing that hits you, after several hundred metres of private drive anticipation, is a stunning view across the valley followed by the un-asuming gable end of a traditional Tuscan hill side farm building. Initial thoughts that you are about to sleep in a stone barn rapidly disappear (at warp speed!) as you walk round the front of the property and take in (or try to as there is so much!) the view, the veranda, the patio, the garden, the vineyard, the olives, the woodland, the peace and solitude and of course, the pool!

Then, if you can draw breath as you will now need it, you will be stunned and wowed by the interior!. The owner has sparred no expense in sympathetically restoring and extending this charming old farm building to the highest possible standard - the quality of detail, fittings and decor is exceptional. The house was immaculately prepared for our arrival and was spotless and welcoming. The garden and patio flowers are beautiful, and the pool is perfection!

This wonderful house and location offered us so many things. Relaxation, privacy, quality, beautiful location with warm and friendly local villages packed with opportunities to shop and eat but still with good access to a couple of large towns and a stunning coastline.

It’s worth mentioning also, that no request, regardless of size or difficulty was too much for the owner to deal with or arrange.

My only reservation in writing this review is that it might result in someone booking the weeks that we want next time!

Owner's Response: Paul, It was great too see you all last year and I'm looking forward to your return visit this year. Thanks for sending me the photos you took and insisting on a day trip to Lucca! What a beautiful place...I of course can't thank you for also insisting that as the girls don't speak Italian Ana had to accompany them on the shopping trip! That service has been cut from the list! See you soon. David & Ana

Probably the best villa we've ever stayed in

  • 5 of 5

I hesitate to say what I really think of this place. For if I do, I may find it booked up next year! Quite simply, it is everything a family could want. Private, spacious, comfortable, with a sizeable pool and a wonderful panorama. Secluded, but not lonely; and set in the wonderful hills of Lunigiana. Not far from the delightful little town of Bagnone, and well situated for Lucca, Florence and the coast. That's if you can tear yourself away.

Owner's Response: Bill, Thanks very much for your kind review. It was great to meet you and the family and Ana and I are looking forward to seeing you all again this year. The vino sfuso is on order and I have a little (not so little) something from cuba tucked away for your arrival and first evening outside on the terrace. Best to you all David & Ana

Facilities

From the Owner

The private location of the villa is perfect for a relaxing break. The large salt water pool is close to the villa but can be closed automatically for child safety. There are a number of terraced areas which are perfect for time in the sun or shade. The proximity of the local town and railway station provides the opportunity to venture further afield without the stress of the car. Day trips can be arranged on your behalf as well as in-house dining. The owner produces saffron, honey and fresh vegetables all of which are provided free of charge. There is a "help yourself" barrel of red wine and bottles of white wine are provided free of charge from Piemonte. In 2017 an honesty will be added enabling guests to choose and sample wines from around Italy in the comfort of the Villa.
