A little gem, lovely location

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time in Portugal. We wanted to be away from the crowds but close to a main town. This is the idea place. The villa is well equipped with everything you need and very well maintained. The pool was a god send in the hot weather and a great place to relax with a glass of wine and watch the sun go down. The town Sao Bras is a leisurely 30 minutes walk away. The intermarche only 15 minutes walk or 2 mins by car. There is a fantastic market in Sao bras and some lovely cafes to sit and watch the world go by. The nearby restaurant Beira Serra is brilliant and very reasonable. (Check it out on trip advisor). We can't finish the review without mentioning Maria and Jose'. What a lovely couple, they look after the villa, were there if we needed them but respected our privacy. A smile and a thumbs up if everything was OK seemed to be a good form of communication. Last of all, the booking and emails with Patricia was so easy. Thank you Patricia for letting us stay in your lovely villa.

Peaceful Cottage

  • 5 of 5

First stay in this cottage, and it was great, very peaceful at night and along with the comfy bed, great!!!!.We chose this cottage for its location close to the lovely town of Sao Bras and the ease of exploring the eastern side of the Algarve which the savvy traveller knows is the real Algarve.

We would definitely stay in the cottage again. It was lovely meeting jose and marie as well.

Just a minor request it would have been nice to have a table at the end of the cottage to sit outside at night with a drink.

Best holiday ever

  • 5 of 5

We have recently returned after a month in Patricia's (the owners) beautiful cottage it was very portugese with everything we needed & very very comfortable & clean, we hired a car which we thought was needed to see as much of Portugal that we wanted, there was two restaurants within walking distance witch we used, the food was very good, the countryside was breathtaking so we walked every day, it is clearly a beautiful place, Patricia & her father came to welcome us & even bought us a welcome pack to start us off which was very welcome, the cottage was exactly as it is in the pictures it is very accurate & we would recommend it to all of our friends & family anytime, Patricia & her father we so lovely & kept in touch the whole of our stay in case we needed anything they were very good indeed, .. I would like to add a very special big thank you to Maria & Jose' I think you would call them house keepers & were some of the nicest people anyone be live next door to, they made our holiday ABSOLUTLY PERFECT by just being there, so I would like to say thank you for having us xx

Great quite little spot

  • 5 of 5

This is a great spot if you want a quiet get-a-way from it all for a while. the cottage has recently been refurbished but it still maintains the character of the place. The radio in the lounge is classic old school and really cool.

The restaurant just up the road has good food, very reasonable priced and people seem to come from all around to visit. Always a good sign. The local supermarket can be walked too as long as you carry too much heavy stuff back and the local town is easily walked in the evening for a meal.

being up in the hills slightly, it can sometimes be a little more cloudy than the coast but that is only a 30 minute drive a way.

Jose and Maria next door are great, very friendly and helpful, even managing to pick up a bit of Portuguese.

We will be back next year for another quiet relaxing week.A great spot

This was our first time going with a private rental and have to say we were not disappointed at all. We spoke to Patricia on the phone at the time of booking and she was really helpful and reassuring. When we arrived she was there to show us around and made us feel really welcome. She introduced us to Jose & Maria who live next door and they were really lovely people who did not intrude on us at all during our stay. The cottage itself was just beautiful with all the modern facilities you could ever need. It was really clean and very comfortable. Outside the gardens were beautiful with lots of space for bbq. The pool is brilliant and just perfect for size and depth. We had our 5year old with us and she was in the pool dusk to dawn. We hired out a car and have to say you will need one. There is a restaurant a short walk from the cottage but it was closed when we went up one night. Went to one at the end of the road and were disappointed with the food and atmosphere. S.A. Bras is a short distance away by car and has some nice places to eat but to be honest not much else. We drove to Tavira about 20mins away and it was much nicer with nice restaurants and atmosphere. We went to the Zoomarine one day and was easy to find although expensive but on the whole a good day out. We would highly recommend you try this cottage out as it is really peaceful and private. We loved our stay here and look forward to returning.

Gary , Pamela & Sophie.

Beautiful, quiet cottage in Algarve

  • 5 of 5

We are so pleased we chose this cottage for our two week getaway in the Algarve.

The cottage is located is a small village with a very good restaurant just a few hundred metres up the road. Sao Bras (the nearest main town) is about half an hours walk away so a hire car is recommended.

The cottage has been carefully and sympathetically restored and retains much of its original features and charm including the traditional bamboo ceilings. We found it plenty big enough for the two of us and the gardens, off road parking, pool and facilities are excellent. The garden is truly beautiful and well maintained, as was the pool.

Maria and Jose live next door and are retained by the owners to maintain and clean the cottage - they are on hand should you need them (as we did once when we locked ourselves out!) but they do not overlook the cottage and they respected our privacy throughout and never intruded.

We both love this part of the Algarve: because it's further from the more touristy coastal areas it's considerably cheaper to eat and drink out and we rarely paid more than €30 for a 2 course meal and drinks.

If you're looking for a quiet getaway in the traditional Algarve we thoroughly recommend this cottage.
