Next door to the bracing sea air of Chesil Beach and worldclass water sports facilities built for Olympic competition. A short trip to rejuvenated Weymouth, its glorious endless sand, child friendly swimming and must-do donkey rides. Short walk to cafes, pubs perfect for long Sunday lunches and divine seafood. No better place to exhaust lively children young and old.

About Katharine King & Darran Snatchfold

We're a family of four. We live in Guildford and work in London but came to Weymouth for a holiday when our little one was 3 months old. We enjoyed it so much that a year later we came back and discovered rugged Portland which we totally fell in love with. We'd always associated escapes to the coast with quaint, rustic cottages but with a small child in tow we found the comfort, luxury and cleanliness of a new build property with all the mod-cons a perfect partner to country days out cliff-walking, sightseeing and beach playing! The Olympic development was really tasteful and brilliantly located, so we invested in a property in October 2012 which we now let for holiday rentals in between our own weekend escapes.

What makes this house unique

When we first travelled down from London, we find Dorset such a good alternative to Devon & Cornwall as it's only 2.5hrs drive and yet still transports you to a calmer pace of life and surroundings just as beautiful! We love driving across the causeway to the house with the Jurassic coast behind us, the dramatic cliffs of Portland ahead of us, the kite-surfers to the left of us and the steep bank of Chesil beach to the right. It's pretty spectacular!

Notes on accommodation: Free wifi. Password provided on arrival. Outside: Private and totally secure south facing garden accessed from the property's first floor living room. Patio with patio furniture to seat 6 plus deck chairs. Rotary washing line. Utility Room: Washing machine, tumble drier, buggy (Mclaren upright) Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and bed linen provided within the price. These are towels to be kept at the house so please bring your own beach towels. Other: Double garage integrated to the house for parking vehicles with direct access internally to the house.

The house was fabulous, spacious and everything you would need, not far from the beach, and local buses and taxis a stones throw away, didn't use the car at all!!!

Amazing and homely

My husband and his 2 friends ran the portland cross country marathon and this was the perfect house to unwind before the big day.

There were 5 adults and a child. There was plenty of space for all of us and the house was close to the finish of the race. I'd highly recommend this house to families as its home from home.

Lovely house in a great location

The house was a great base to explore Portland and Weymouth. Everything you could possibly need was provided including beach toys for the children. We've had a lovely, relaxing week and I would definitely recommend this property to anyone visiting the area.

We had a lovely time in Portland, House is lovely and very clean.

The house also was ideal for our two children (2&3 year olds)

Nice garden and lots of toys to play with!

Katharine the owner is wonderful very helpful if you need to ask her anything!

If we were to visit this area again I wouldn't hesitate in booking this again

If you find it necessary to cancel your holiday, this contract is legally binding and means that you will still be liable for the full cost of the holiday. We therefore strongly recommend that you take out your own holiday insurance policy. Any cancellation must be made in writing. In such cases, we will make every effort to re-let the property for the period of the booking. If successful, a refund of monies will be paid less an administration charge of £20.

Changeover Day:
Saturday for bookings of a week. Shorter stays are available at the owner's discretion.

Rates subject to change until booking confirmed. 50% payable upon booking, 50% 6 weeks before holiday. Bookings less than 6 weeks in advance require payment in full. Failure to make final payment may result in the cancellation of the holiday and forfeiture of any money previously paid. We would of course give you due warning of this.
