The cottage is large and airy and would suit larger families or two families. It sits on the edge of a small village which was a former mining village. It is a 10 minute walk from the quiet beach and yet very close to many tourist attractions including the beautiful North Yorkshire moors. The area is suitable for walkers and the cottage sits on the Cleveland way and is within easy reach of many organised walks, woodlands and lovely coastline.

My Name is June and I have lived and worked as a Nurse in and around the North Yorkshire coastline all of my life. I bought Kilton Mill House in 2003 which I totally fell in love with from the minute I entered.I brought up my 3 sons until they all one by one left home.My lovely cottage became too big for me to live in alone and very reluctantly I began to look for a smaller house to live. Whilst living in the house and convinced I would stay there forever, I totally renovated the whole cottage, although as the cottage is Grade 11 listed I had to work within the restrictions that imposed, but I feel that maintaining and restoring many original features has benefited the cottage. The garden has been my pride and joy and has even won me a couple of local prizes.

Why june hume chose North Yorkshire

This is an area I have loved and lived in all of my life, the people are wonderful, warm and friendly. I love the position of the cottage, as it is very near to the lovely north yorkshire moors and also the north yorkshire coastline, and lovely towns such as Whitby, Saltburn,Staithes, and all the in between charming fishing villages with beautiful scenery. It is a great spot for walkers as it sits on the Cleveland way and has many other lovely walks very nearby. The Cottage itself is just a short walking distance to the small fishing village of Skinningrove & the sea which is only a 10 min walk. Saltburn is a 10 mins drive away & is the nearest train station giving access to many other places of interest. The North Yorkshire moors is also 10 mins drive and has breathtaking scenery.

What makes this cottage unique

The cottage benefits from both its seclusion from the crowds or a busy city but also from its ease of access to all local amenities and short distance from many local attractions and lovely places to visit. The cottage is very unique in and is of local public interest as it dates back to the mid 18th century as a millers cottage and even gets a mention in the doomsday book! hence the reason for its grade 11 listing.It sits next door to one of the few remaining Water mill in England which although has recently been renovated into a dwelling it still retains all the original workings of the mill which sit behind large glass panels to preserve the old machinery. The cottage also has the added benefit of being quite large as Cottages built in the same era tended to be quite small and dark.

Notes on accommodation: The cottage is provided with a wide range of amenities including inside and outside games. There are TVs/Dvds in all rooms and sky is available along with a range of DVDs. There is also a CD player with a vast amount of music for all tastes. A Bbq is provided with the necessary fuel. There are outside seating areas and on the main patio a table for 8 with a parasol and a garden swing. The cottage is gas centrally heated and has 2 flame gas fires and also a multi fuel stove Although pets are welcome this is strictly limited to one small animal and not to be allowed in sleeping areas. There is ample parking for several cars. Outside: Gardens, Patios, BBQ, Garden Swing, Garden Furniture for 8+, fruit trees (redcurrant and blackcurrant) for guests to pick and use fruit. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Changeover day is Friday. The cottage is provided with all bedlinen and towels. A range of toiletries is provided and also cleaning materials along with washing powder and dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid etc. Other: Two dining areas, A large formal dining room seating 8 people and also an informal dining area seating 8 there is also a high chair provided. There is a study area with a settee and desk. WIFI is also provided free of charge.

Outstanding holiday cottage home from home

Fabulous 3 day break in this stunning cottage. Everything there from music to games. The barbecue was very handy as the weather was great and we could sit out in the gardens whilst the children played. Would thoroughly recommend it

Wow,wow and Wow

What an impressive cottage this is, with every need catered for.

Location is very good close to lots of lovely places to visit.

We had 7 adults and two little ones in our party and cottage is so spacious, we didn't feel on top of each other.

Lovely surprise with the grocery supplies when we arrived.

Owner was so helpful, would recommend to anyone and none of us wanted to leave.

Lovely long weekend!

Lovely family long weekend. Would highly recommend this cottage. Ample space, great property.

Eldest of party was 70; youngest was 6 - it suited all of us.

Delightful journey along the coast to neighbouring towns and villages (Whitby and Staithes); terrific scenery.

Cottage quaint, comfortable, clean and homely. Gardens beautiful.

Owners made our stay more special as I had mentioned when booking that our weekend away was my sister's 40th birthday treat. We arrived to banners, balloons and a birthday cake! That was a lovely touch and greatly appreciated by us.

We will definitely be booking again!
