Sunny Cottage with spectacular views

Overview

Property

Updated: 18-Oct-2016
2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, private terrace

Fully renovated stone cottage with private terrace, located in a quiet, sunny residential street below the château ruins. Impressive views over the village and countryside. Offers comfortable accommodation for up to 4 guests. 3 minutes walk to the village square with bars and restaurants and 5 minutes to the Roman Pool, for swimming. Free public parking outside the property.

As a classic Provençal village house, the cottage is built on 3 levels:

On the 1st floor - a living room with dining area and open fireplace with wood-burner; a fully equipped, spacious kitchen, tiled with local ceramic tiles; a vaulted shower room with large, tiled shower, basin and WC and a separate 2nd WC.

On the 2nd floor and 3rd floors - 2 sunny bedrooms and a small sitting room with sofa bed, TV etc. All 3 rooms with impressive views over the village roof tops to the hills beyond.

On the ground floor - a private terrace, hidden from street view by lush vegetation and partially shaded by a mature oleander tree, with garden table and chairs for eating outside. BBQ and cellar for bike storage.

Salernes is a bustling, lively community with excellent shopping facilities and outstanding Provençal markets. The main village square is centrally located and a popular meeting place with the locals. Shaded from the hot Mediterranean sun by tall plane trees, with cafés and restaurants jostling for space - it's the perfect spot for a coffee, a beer or a bite to eat.

Located on the southern border of the Natural Regional Park of the Verdon, the village is well-situated for visits to the park and lower Alps as well as to the coastal towns of Cannes, Monte Carlo, St Tropez and Aix-en-Provence. The magnificent landscapes around the Lac Sainte-Croix and the stunning Gorges du Verdon are only 25 minutes by car. Full details and suggestions for outings and activities can be found in my personal brochure in the cottage.

Nice, Marseille and Toulon airports are all approximately 1¼ hrs drive.

The local train station of Les Arcs Draguignan is 25 minutes drive from Salernes and is situated on the main line, including the TGV service.

A 25 minute drive to the Lac de Ste Croix, with the spectacular Gorges du Verdon on its northern shore is a refreshing change from the busy coast where one can picnic, swim, sail, hire canoes or don one's hiking boots and discover the amazing gorges and surrounding countryside.

Cannes, St Tropez, Aix-en-Provence, Monte Carlo and the beautiful Îsles d'Or, lying off Hyères, are all easily accessible for a day out.

Nice, Marseille and Toulon airports are all approximately 1¼ hrs drive.

A car is recommended, but not essential.
