Ol Larashi cottage is situated on a 50 acre farm on Green Park estate, approximately 100kms from Nairobi - an easy 2 hour drive on tarmac until the last 12kms of all weather gravel road. At 7,000ft above sea level and only 50kms south of the Equator, we have 12 hours of daylight throughout the year. Warm days and crisp nights are enjoyed. Naivasha is a boom town in the Great Rift Valley, serving the burgeoning horticultural industry. There are several banks, supermarkets, small stores, a vegetable market, eating houses and petrol station as well as hospitals and pharmacies. Green Park is 25kms out of Naivasha on the North Lake Road which actually encircles the Lake - a distance of about 80kms. This fresh water Lake covers an area of about 40 sq miles and is surrounded by mountains forming the eastern and western walls of the Great Rift. The beautiful yellow barked fever trees (Acacia Xanthophlea) are the predominant trees forming woodlands around the Lake.

We visited between Christmas and New Year at the end of 2013, booked for three nights but loved it so much we extended our stay and saw in the new year there as well. The cottage is in the most stunning location, almost as soon as you arrive and see the view you know that you will be able to relax here. We went for the catered option and the food was magnificent - fresh, locally sourced, plentiful, good value, & well presented; dietary restrictions were also taken into consideration. Vincent, who looked after us, was five star.
There are many animals and our children (9 & 11 years) not only enjoyed the interaction with them but also learnt a lot, which was all relayed to us enthusiastically. Susie and Tony are wonderful hosts with huge experience of both animals and this area geogprahically, and really invested time and care in us as their guests. There were also a number of very thoughtful personal touches - one of many examples is that we had our new baby with us and they set up our room with a changing table and basin for bathing her.
We are so delighted to have found this oasis, and have no doubt whatsoever about visiting again as soon as we can.
