About the Owner

We are an Franco-anglo couple, my husband is French and I am British, we have 2 young boys 4 & 6 years. We have travelled extensively over the year but decided to make our home in Annecy, its my husbands home town and I fell in love with the area before we had even met.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We rented this property as we are a young family, one of our main criteria is to have safe place inside and out for our children to play, the garden is enclosed and the area is quiet. The house is well presented and comfortable with everything you could ever need. The owners were very helpful (English speaking), and very kindly offered extra toys for our children to play with. Giez is a beautiful traditional village, ideally located, many activities to choose from, we took advantage of the cycle routes and easy hikes near to the house, the kids loved going and visiting the local cows! We spent a day exploring Annecy which is a short drive away and visiting the lake for some stone throwing as it was a bit cold to swim. We would come again.

My husband and I are keen golfers and were blown away by the 2 local golf courses and what a treat it was just to be able to head straight out on to the Giez Golf Course. The house is just adorable and very comfortable, thank you.

A relaxing place to stay

Really enjoyed our stay in this nicely converted barn. We had all the amenities we required and the owners are very friendly and welcoming. The village is quiet and picturesque.

Spontaner Trip in die Berge

  • 5 of 5

Great property, great location, and great price

  • 5 of 5

We stayed as a family of 4 (two young children) in early spring, and were really pleased with our choice when we arrived. The view over the mountains was great and the property was even better than in the photos. We met both Francoise and Natalie on arrival/exit and they were extremely friendly and helpful. We had car with us and found there was plenty to do in the surrounding area. Annecy and the Lake were stunning (able to compete with the best Italian and Swiss lakes!), the Bauges Regional Park is on the doorstep and has some great walking/driving/cheese tasting. There are woodland walks straight from the doorstep of the house and a number of castles to explore in the surrounding area. If you want to travel further then some of the best Ski resorts in the country are within 1-2 hours drive (Chamonix, Val D'Isere, Val Thorens) though there are also some more local ski stations.

The only things to be aware of is that the internet was very slow while we were there - which I suspect is typical of local internet speeds rather than the connection in the house - and the bath is half-sized so only big enough to sit up in (we prefer showers anyway). Neither of these caused us any issues.

Though we were a family of 4 I felt that 2 more adults would easily have been accommodated in the property and we really liked the house layout, with the lounge area being at the top of the stairs and the 2 en-suite bathrooms. There were a number of toys, games, books, DVD's (for children and adults alike) and even a Nintendo Wii provided.

Easy recommendation from us and a well-deserved 5 stars!

Great family house

  • 5 of 5

What a great place to stay. This was our second holiday in Giez - we never go back to the same place twice so this shows how impressed we were with Natalie and Francois' lovely little barn conversion.

The Barn is perfect , very comfortable and a home from home. The area is so varied with markets to visit and mountains to climb.

A great place for families or couples.

Thanks for a great two week distress.

Total relaxation in an idyllic setting

  • 5 of 5

We were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the property - the photos don't do it the justice it deserves! Such character and loads of space. Natalie was very attentive giving us all the property info we needed and loads of local information which proved very useful - we enjoyed all the recommended activities and restaurants. Our daughter is 15 so it wasn't an issue, but this property would be ideal for families with younger children - very safe and well equipped. We would definitely recommend this property and hope to return.

Fantastic

  • 5 of 5

This was a great house to stay in and explore the Annecy area. Natalie was there when we arrived and gave us a warm welcome which was much appreciated. We had our 10 month old granddaughter with us and the house was equipped with everything we could possibly need - the range of toys was impressive. It was very hot the week we were there so a trip up the Col de la Forclaz made for a cooler air and had stunning views over Lake Annecy. It was lovely sitting out in the garden which has lots of shade and the house itself was very clean and comfortable. Nothing is too much trouble for Natalie and Francois and I would certainly recommend this house to others with or without children.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. We aim to please all groups that come and stay at our house; we have 2 young children and understand how a family holiday can end up with a car or suitcase filled with kid’s stuff, which is why we decided to provide a comprehensive baby and kid’s kit to make holidays as stress free as possible.

Location

From the Owner

We fell in love with the property even before it went up for sale, its has so much character and charm and the garden is perfect for our 2 young boys. Its close to all local amenities, lake, ski fields and the golf course! Giez is such a pretty village, traditional giving a true feeling of being in the mountains, close to the lake and to nature.
