About the Owner

Jane and Grahame have lived at Seamer Hill Farm since 2003. Grown-up sons James and Simon not only live with us but also work in the family food business. We also have "Max" the Springer and "Scamp" the Jack Russell, 15 chickens, 4 sheep and two hairy pigs! Guests visiting us in April can usually see lambs being born in our stables.

My objective next year (it's always next year) is to wind down a little and make more time for fishing and mountain-biking.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"Great central location, very comfortable cottage and friendly owners". Mrs Taylor, Leeds - Hayloft Cottage.

"So much to do in the area and lovely to come back to the underfloor heating on an evening! Fantastic cottage - we will be back". Mr & Mrs Lewis, Stockport.

"The standards of cleanliness, comfort, attention to detail and the warmth of that lovely underfloor heating were first class. The cottage was in an ideal spot to explore the countryside, market towns, cities and coastal resorts". The Mottrams, Bradford.

Excellent accommodation

  • 5 of 5

Clean and comfortable accommodation set in beautiful surrounding close to the north York moors. We booked for a 30th birthday surprise for my wife and had a great weekend. The owner was very quick to respond to email queries before our arrival and was very accommodating of our requests. The dogs loved the nearby open fields as well. I would highly recommend hayloft cottage.

5 star accommodation.

  • 5 of 5

Fantastic 5 star accommodation in a beautiful setting. We visited Hayloft cottage for a weekend break, our party ranged from age 4-70 years and it was perfect for everyone. The cottage had everything you could need and the owners even left us a box of chocolates and a box of fresh eggs to welcome us. The children enjoyed visiting the sheep and pigs but especially enjoyed collecting fresh eggs from the chickens. We would love to visit again. The pictures don't do it justice and the under floor heating was amazing.

PROS AND CONS

  • 4 of 5

THIS COTTAGE IS BEAUTIFUL INSIDE.........EVERYTHING YOU COULD WISH FOR..........AND THE OWNERS LET MY FAMILY BRING THEIR 2 DOGS AND THERE WAS A FIELD FOR THEM TO RUN IN..........BEDDING AND TOWELS WERE GOOD QUALITY AND LASHINGS OF HOT WATER......AND THE OWNERS COULDNT HAVE BEEN MORE HELPFULL THEY EVEN LET YOU COLLECT EGGS FOR YOUR BREAKFAST............HOWEVER WHAT THEY FAIL TO MENTION IN THEIR ADVERTISING IS THAT THE COTTAGE IS ON A BUSY ROAD.....WHICH SPOILT IT FOR ME........ALSO I ASSUMED THAT WITH THE COTTAGE BEING UPSIDE DOWN THAT THERE WOULD BE FABULOUS VIEWS FROM UPSTAIRS WINDOW THERE WASNT INFACT THE UPSTAIRS WINDOW LOOKED OUT ONTO TO THE BUSY ROAD AND ANY VIEWS THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN THERE WERE HIDDEN BEHIND BUSHES AND TREES.............HOWEVER EVERY OTHER FACILITY WAS CATERED FOR AND THE COST WAS QUITE REASONABLE..................THERE IS A VERY TWISTY STAIRCASE IN THE PROPERTY WITH NO HANDRAIL

Owner's Response: The views of the Yorkshire Moors and beautiful sunsets are still there, the overgrown hedge only obscures the view of the field - but we will ask the farmer to trim it. The road is a minor country road, traffic would only affect guests in the front bedroom if the double-glazed windows were kept open at night. There IS a handrail on the staircase but in light of the comments we have fitted a second handrail.

Location

From the Owner

The property was in drastic need of renovation when we moved here, in fact the barns were literally falling down. We renovated the farmhouse then converted the adjoining barns into Hayloft and Bullring Cottages. We have made a stable available for guests to use as a Games Room, with darts and a pool table and a south-facing enclosed lawned paddock with tables, chairs and a BBQ. We love the "country living", open countryside to walk the dogs, beautiful views, yet only 1.5 miles out of the quaint market town of Stokesley.
