Gill Side Barn - Sleeps 17-18 plus cots

A bank barn over 3 levels opened for the first time in 2014 after a major barn conversion. The barn offers spacious 4* Gold self catering accommodation. The ground floor has front entrance with hall leading to 3 bedrooms, consisting of 1 kingsize with single bed, 1 kingsize with 2 single beds and a twin room, shower room with w.c. stairs leading up to entrance hall wc cloakroom, large kitchen/dining area, lounge with wood burning stove and dining room which can cater for 14+ comfortably. Stairs lead to upper level where there are 3 bedrooms, one double, one bedroom with kingsize bed and a single and one kingsize with single bed and ensuite with shower and wc. A single foldaway bed can be placed in the barn for an 18th person. Main bathroom with bath, shower and wc. Outside front private enclosed garden, to the rear private garden, patio, decked area, bbq, parking area and detached garage.

Set in a peaceful and idyllic location yet within easy access of the amenities of the Lakes and Dales all 3 barns have been awarded 4* Gold by Visit England. Offering spacious accommodation the barns have been finished to provide quality and comfort. Each barn has it's own private enclosed gardens, garage, private parking and free wifi. With easy access from the M6 and main Oxenholme station Simgill makes it suitable for groups to meet up from all parts of the country. Ideal for family and friends the barns are fast becoming celebration places having had 1st to 60th wedding anniversaries, 1st birthdays to 90th birthdays, engagements and wedding celebrations, girls (hens) get together, university reunions, and family holidays. The barns can be booked individually or as a group booking. All 3 properties are set within the 40+ acres of Simgill Farm. Country walks are right on the doorstep and the Dales Way is adjacent to the farm. Our large herd of Alpacas can be seen in the fields grazing and with an ever growing herd of over 80 makes a visit to the barns something different. Guests staying at our barns wishing to see the alpacas up close we offer a free one off meeting with them where you can get to take selfies, ask questions and feed if you wish something you don't get to do everyday and an enjoyable experience not to be missed.

About Wendy Price

We moved to this beautiful part of the country nearly 15 years ago to enjoy a better way of life and we haven't been disappointed. Living in wonderful countryside yet within easy reach of Kendal and the motorway network we feel very lucky to have found Simgill. The farm was in a bad state when we acquired it and we set ourselves a major task to renovate the farm and barns. During this time we have kept various animals but by far the easiest and nicest animal to look after is the Alpaca. We have over 80 with an ever increasing herd. We are hands on with our herd and guests have said it has been the highlight of their stay to meet and feed our Alpacas, even going as far as to say it has been one of the best days of their lives so far.

Special interest holidays:

Plenty of walks right on the doorstep, we are also adjacent to the Dales Way. Close to famous walks within the National park. Cycle routes. Mountain bikes, golf, horse riding, quad biking, gorge walking, boat rides, steam engine rides easy to access from Simgill. Outside caterers can be organised to come and cook in house. Pampering, wine tasting, adventure outdoors and much more can be organized to come to the barns. Hot tubs can be hired in by arrangement. Simgill breed Alpacas both Huacaya and Suris with over 80 grazing the fields around the barns all guests staying at the barns are welcome to a free one off Alpaca Experience to meet our large herd up close take photos, ask questions and feed. An appointment can be made on arrival.


Car recommended. 5 miles from Oxenholme main line railway. Local taxis available. Manchester airport closest.
