About Wendy Price

We moved to this beautiful part of the country nearly 15 years ago to enjoy a better way of life and we haven't been disappointed. Living in wonderful countryside yet within easy reach of Kendal and the motorway network we feel very lucky to have found Simgill. The farm was in a bad state when we acquired it and we set ourselves a major task to renovate the farm and barns. During this time we have kept various animals but by far the easiest and nicest animal to look after is the Alpaca. We have over 80 with an ever increasing herd. We are hands on with our herd and guests have said it has been the highlight of their stay to meet and feed our Alpacas, even going as far as to say it has been one of the best days of their lives so far.

Why Wendy Price chose Lambrigg

Scenic, peaceful, idyllic yet has easy access to the M6 motorway and main Oxenholme station. Kendal market town is just 10 mins away and the amenities of the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales are all easy to get to. Ideal for friends and families meeting from all parts of the country.

What makes this cottage unique

Conveniently located to the amenities of the Lake District and within easy reach of the M6 whether your travelling from the far north, south or east, Simgill Farm is an ideal meeting point for everyone. 3 large barns all in their own private garden and grounds are finished to a high quality and very spacious for large family or friend groups. Beautiful views of the surrounding countryside, Alpacas close by, walks from the doorstep, this peaceful location is within easy reach of Kendal market town. Simgill Farm is the only accommodation we know who offers guests a chance to see Alpacas up close and hand feed them if they wish.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Gill Side Barn - My 30th birthday with 15 friends & was not disappointed in the slightest. Beautiful property, Wendy & Joe are lovely people who couldn't have made us more welcome. The cottage is furnished to a high standard, we couldn't have asked for anything more. For a property of this size, the quality of everything is superb including the beds! Kendal is a 10 minute drive away, there are sufficient taxi firms offering mini buses to get into town for a big group. Good for a night out! Lots to do locally, we did clay pigeon shooting & quad biking whilst we were there. Would definitely return!

Barn Court Cottage - We had a really great weekend - a beautiful cottage in a beautiful part of the country. The cottage is clean & really well appointed but the highlight was getting to meet and feed the alpacas - amazing.

Meadow View - Stayed here with a group of ladies. Couldn't praise the house highly enough. Very spacious and finished to an extremely high standard. Lovely location.

Great cottage, facilities, location and host

  • 5 of 5

Really enjoyed our stay at Barn Cottage, it was perfect for our group of 11; plenty of space, clean and modern facilities. Wendy and Jo were really kind and helpful, we loved visiting and feeding the Alpacas!

Fantastic location not too far from the motorway and a supermarket, but with the feeling of remoteness and gorgeous views of rolling fields (would highly recommend ordering a hot tub too!) Check out was early on Sunday but we could pay a little extra to stay later.

Thanks and best wishes

Very smart property with everything we needed.

  • 5 of 5

An excellent location that felt like we were far enough away from civilisation but close enough to Kendal when we needed to shop.

Would recommend this property to others.

Barn Court Cottage was a fantastic and homely place for us to stay.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Barn Court Cottage with friends and family whilst attending a wedding nearby. We have only positive things to report. The cottage was spacious and well presented and although it felt like we were in the middle of nowhere (which was very peaceful) we weren't far from local amenities. The owners were friendly and helpful, the setting idyllic and we'd recommend to anyone looking for a larger property to hire. We would recommend you take/hire a car however the cab services were pretty good.
