About Sandra Morfett-Murdock

We moved from Cheshire in 2000 with work and fell in love with this beautiful area. Its a great place for our family and our children settled well attending local schools.

Sandra Morfett-Murdock purchased this cottage in 2000

Why Sandra Morfett-Murdock chose Penrith, East Lakes & Eden Valley

We were looking for a lifestyle choice in rural Cumbria and found it in Skelton. An unspoiled village with easy access to the lakes and fells and local towns including Penrith and Carlisle.

What makes this cottage unique

The cottage is very well located to access the Northern lakes and fells and the local gateway towns of Penrith and Keswick are within a short drive. We have many repeat visitors who love the convenience of the area and the peacefulness of being away from the crowds. Penrith our local town is relatively unspoiled with a variety on independent shops and traders. It has an "old style" independent cinema too which is well worth a visit. The area is great for cycling and you can be underneath Blencathra before you know it on an afternoon or evening cycle ride. Also we have a couple of "open air lidos" nearby - summer only!

Pottery cottage is far lovelier than the pictures. Perfect location, immaculately clean and equipped

  • 5 of 5

Pottery Cottage is ideally situated to explore the northern Lakes and upper Eden valley. Although only 5 minutes off junction 41/M6 and A66 to Keswick, it is in a quiet location away from the tourist hubs. The cottage is extremely well equipped with all you need for a self catering holiday. Beds are comfortable and the lounge dining area is light and spacious, with a beautiful outlook into Sandra and James gorgeous garden. The quiet village pub is a stones throw from the end of the drive, a delightful hostelry serving good beer and excellent food at reasonable prices. We will use this cottage again without hesitation.

comfortable family cottage with everything you nee

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 4 had a wonderful stay at Pottery Cottage for 2 weeks. We chose the location because it gave us easy access to explore both Hadrians Wall and the lake district. The cottage has plenty of room for 4 people to be comfortable and is beautifully clean with lovely furnishings. Particularly impressive was a good supply of sharp kitchen knives, something we have found hard to come by in holiday lets. Sandra and her family were very friendly and welcoming and on hand whenever we needed for information or advice. We would definitely recommend this cottage for anyone wanting to visit this beautiful area.

Lovely Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Lovely cottage, spotlessly clean and well equipped. Dreadful weather during our visit with high winds and rain but the cottage was very cosy. Ideal location for the north lakes and handy for M6. Will definitely visit again.
