The extensive Blue Flag beach at Westward Ho! and the Royal North Devon Golf Club are 2 miles away. RHS Rosemoor and surfing beaches a short drive away.

We are a family with two children, we have lived in the area for 13 years. We have downsized our holiday let from a huge 5 bed farmhouse to this lovely 2 bed Fishermans cottage.

Beautiful quaint cottage
Just returned from a wonderful week. The cottage was beautiful and just a short stroll to the harbour, shops and cafes. We would recommend the Tarka trail which we did twice! To fremington one day then Torrington the next time. Spent most of he time on the beach at westward Ho.
The drive way is narrow as are a lot of the streets in Devon. The stairs were steep but it was an old fishermans cottage. The only problem we did have was how to use the washing machine!

A cosy, well kept cottage
We had a great week in Appledore, helped by wonderful weather. The cottage was as described and well kept. Adele's communication was good throughout. Would recommend.
Stayed at this cottage as a couple during a summer break in 2016. All the appliances and facilities you need and very clean and well maintained. Good views of the quay and estuary. Great base for exploring the locality and we went to Clovelly, Hartford, Bude, Saunton and Instow. Cottage close to the seafront, local shops and pubs etc. Lots to do in all weather's.
The parking space is a little tricky to manoeuvre into so I would recommend bringing a small car.
Note that the steps down into the courtyard and within the house are quite steep so consider this if you have mobility problems.
All all we can recommend the property and we had a great time.
Comfortable, well equipped ccottage.
Arrived in the sunshine (a good way to start the holiday), to be greeted by our hosts. Found cottage to be well equipped and the cream tea a real bonus! Very well located in a quiet street, and close to the Quay. Hardly moved the car all week as we could walk the coastal path.
Excellent - Highly Recommended
Here over the New year week-end. Cottage cozy, comfortable & warm. Weather mostly foul, but try a bracing walk along the quay at high tide with the waves pounding in! This followed by a coffee in Bensons... Great.

Activity and Interests
The extensive Blue Flag beach at Westward Ho! is approximately 2 miles away. The sandy beach at Instow is directly across the estuary from Appledore with a charming and regular 'ferry' service. The well known sandy surfing beaches of Croyde, Woolacombe and Saunton Sands are within easy reach by car.
Bristol is approx a two hour drive. Car is recommended but not essential as there are good transport links and the cottage is within easy walking distance to the village centre and good bus service.
Appledore seafront only a few minutes walk away. Bideford 3 miles (with Atlantic Village Retail Outlet), From Bideford you can take a ferry to Lundy island. Barnstaple 10.
The Milky Way and The Big Sheep (indoor activities for children and adults for rainy days) just 10-15 minutes drive away. Both Exmoor and Dartmoor National Parks are within an hours drive.
Good local shop/Post Office in the village. Appledore is well known for its craft and picture galleries and shops. There is a good selection of family friendly pubs and eating places. The nearby port of Bideford has banks, supermarket, petrol stations, etc. Trips to Lundy depart from here and Ilfracombe.

£100 deposit is required at the time of booking with the balance due four weeks' prior to the holiday. A separate additional £100 cheque against damage is required which will be returned not cashed at the end of the holiday. We recommend that travel insurance is taken out as refunds will only be given if the cottage is re-let.
For short breaks the rate is pro rata plus £25 for housekeeping.
Changeover day is on Saturday although this may be flexible in low and mid-season.

There is a gas BBQ with table and chairs for alfresco dining. The steps lead up to a pathway to the private parking. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The property is cleaned weekly. All linen and towels included. Beds will all be made up for your arrival plus we leave a pint of milk in the fridge with tea / coffee available.
