About louise meeres

hi there,i'm louise and me and my husband bob have lived in rogart for 21yrs now after moving up from wiltshire. we have 3 children,2 of which have flown the nest but no.3- charlie is still at home. we love where we live and hope you will too. we're both outdoor people ,are keen gardeners and grow lots of our own produce and rear our own meat. having a croft is more of a way of life than a job. we like to think we're pretty helpful kind of folk so during your stay we are more than happy to give you any local tourist info where we can ,lend you maps etc and hopefully make your stay as relaxing and as fun as possible.we've had family in the cottage on and off for the last couple of years but we are back!!! =)

louise meeres purchased this cottage in 1991

Why louise meeres chose Rogart

my other half had always had an affinity with scotland after holidaying up here every year when he was a child, and being from farming background it seemed a natural progression to buy a croft up in the highlands. we both fell in love with the area, the diverse landscapes, the huge sense of freedom and space which comes from being able to see for miles and such a friendly village atmosphere

What makes this cottage unique

we both love the outdoors and everything it has to offer,so when not working on the croft its great to be able to take the bikes out and hardly see a car,go hillwalking or go for a stomp on the nearby beaches. i've recently taken up climbing and theres lots of rocks to climb!,my husband thinks i'm mad and prefers to go for a round of golf instead..we're both pretty sporty but when we just feel like chilling out the peace and quiet on the croft is wonderful.who would want to live anywhere else when on my morning school run i can watch the red deer grazing on the roadside!

Guestbook comments from the owner

the old byre cottage is a wonderful place to get away from it all, rest and replenish your energies.Whether you are looking to relax in the beautiful garden breathing the fresh air and admiring the awesome views,or looking forward to those cosy evenings in front of the fire after an invigorating walk.We have been coming here as a family for many years in all seasons and have always found the old byre to be a warm ,cosy and comfortable kid friendly base from which t explore.our kids havecollected icicles in the winter, fed lambs in spring and seen seals on the beaches in the summer, they revel in the space and freedom and when they are happy we are happy too! Fiona Store-Bristol

Fell in love with this cottage and surroundings on our first visit several yrs ago and have been back every year since and think its the perfect base for sightseeing or just lazing relaxing in front of the peat fire! Deanna-Bratton

A warm and welcoming retreat

  • 5 of 5

This cottage is possibly the most thoughtfully appointed place we have ever rented; cake and wine on arrival, heaps of wood for the fire, a great DVD and book selection and toiletries in the bathroom to name but a few of the hugely welcome offerings. The cottage is easily warmed, has a great shower and feels a world away from it all feel despite not being far from some great beaches, woods and mountain bike trails. The children loved the huge beautifully kept garden space with the treehouse and swing and were besotted by Poppy the super friendly collie dog - honestly couldn't be bettered. Thanks again Louise and Bob!

Lovely cottage in a peaceful situation

  • 5 of 5

Lovely accommodation with everything you need. Especially enjoyed the log burner on chilly evenings. Lovely situation away from it all with great views. Very central for visiting lots of different areas.

Thank you Louise for providing us with tea and biscuits on arrival and extra logs for the fire. Hope to come back soon x

Cozy Cottage in the beautiful highlands!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at the farm. Louise was very welcoming and we were greeted with homemade brownies and tea! The area is beautiful and quiet and not very far from Golspie. We found lots of things to keep us busy. We took a day trip up and along the northern coast that was gorgeous.

The cottage was clean and cozy and had everything we needed for a delightful stay! Thanks again to Louise for everything and a special shout out to Poppy (the dog) who went for walks with us and made sure we got home safe!
