The Hayloft is accessed via our courtyard garden by an outside staircase and comprises a small entrance lobby, shower room and a compact open plan living and sleeping area. A small sitting out area in our lower garden affords a secluded spot to enjoy a BBQ and watch the sunset. This self contained studio provides a brilliant bolt hole in an area of outstanding natural beauty with views across rolling countryside and from the garden down the valley to the sea and Port Isaac. A perfect spot to enjoy walks on the south west coastal path, the beaches of Polzeath and Rock and the wild beauty of Bodmin moor. Situated on the coastal B road it gives quick access to wide range of excellent pubs and restaurants together with historic houses and castles.

About Scilla Hannam

My family and I live here in North Cornwall with our Golden retriever Chester and cat. Lured by the fabulous beaches and outstanding scenery we moved down from Salisburyyea4 years ago. The area has so much to offer from natural beauty to fantastic restaurants and historic houses and gardens. I work part time as primary school teacher and my husband busies himself with various projects around the home and garden.

Our first holiday let was The Hayloft, which is a cosy studio apartment above our garage, that has proved very popular over the last 2 years year. Following its success and our enjoyment in meeting guests we have purchased Homestead in Port Isaac, a quaint old fisherman's cottage. Both properties provide brilliant bases to explore all the North Cornwall area has to offer.

Notes on accommodation: At The hayloft we aim to provide a cosy bolt hole in a stunning and easily accessible part of North Cornwall. We welcome feedback on your stay. Pets are welcome, but please check with us first if you have more than 1 dog and/or if it is a large breed as to whether it will be possible to accomodate them/ it, as there is limited space. We would ask you to respect our terms and conditions as regards pets. If we are fully booked do please consider Homestead, our new cottage in Port Isaac, which have nearly completed raedy for Easter 2014. Outside: A small area of our garden is available with table, chairs and a BBQ overlooking fields and the sea beyond. Utility Room: There is no utility room however equipment can be borrowed Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Super soft hand and bath towels and high thread count pure cotton bedlinen included. Cleaned thoroughly prior to arrival. The Hayloft will be decorated for Christmas and New Year

Perfectly located to explore the coast and relax

We stayed at the Hayloft over the Easter Break with our Beagle. The apartment is really well located to explore, Rock, Polzeath, Padstow, Port Isaac, Newquay. As well as the location the facilities in the apartment were fantastic. Its clean, very comfortable, and has everything you need with full access to the garden (which is gated and secured) for our dog to roam around freely. I would definitely recommend the Hayloft. Thank you to Priscilla and Bob for making us feel welcome.

Perfect couple's retreat in a beautiful part of Cornwall

The apartment is perfect for a couple to make their base, while exploring all that wonderful Cornwall has to offer. Scilla kept in touch and offered assistance on arrival details and we were greeted on arrival by Bob. He was very friendly and showed us around the apartment, giving helpful tips i.e. the bathroom fan ;-). The apartment had everything you could need for a getaway break and it was so clean, tidy and homely. We finished off each day with a gin (from the huge menu of gins) at the Cornish Arms, just a short 5 min walk away. Geoff the landlord was very nice and had great knowledge of gin. We even did the open mic night that apparently happens every Friday. It was such a fantastic evening, with talented musicians just enjoying what they do.

We would definitely stay again on our next venture down to this beautiful county.

Sweet and Relaxing

It was lovely looking out at the sheep and the hills in the distance each morning over breakfast before a day of breathing and walking. We cooked-in although our landlady and lord were helpful with what was going on, and where was nice to eat if we had wanted that. Yes ... it is a friendly place, and comfortable and relaxing and soft: Like how I found Cornwall really.

Beautiful accommodation and very kind hosts

The Hayloft has everything you need for a comfortable stay in Cornwall. As I was travelling alone with my dog, the space was warm and welcoming and very pretty with views over rolling countryside and the sea in the distance.

The scones and friendly welcome continued to make this a special holiday; I was in easy reach of so many lovely places and coming home was always relaxing; Rocket the dog making my dog especially at home.

The kind helpfulness of Scilla and Bob was shown particularly when I managed to break my ankle; they went above and beyond; looking after me and my dog and taking me to hospital to get treated.

Cornwall was a very beautiful place and the people most welcoming. I hope to return and would definitely stay at the Hayloft again.

10 minutes drive brings you to the excellent surfing beach of Polzeath and Rock. These offer surf schools, sea kayaking and coasteering, sailing, water skiing and restaurants. From Rock a foot passenger ferry operates to Padstow the picturesque fishing port with Rick Stein's restaurant and deli.

A 1.5 mile walk down the valley brings you out in Port Gaverne and onto the coastal path. Port Isaac is 2.5 miles by car or on foot. North to the rugged beauty of Trebarwith by car in 15 mins.


By car via the A30 dual carriageway from Exeter 63 miles. Newquay airport 30 mins drive. Excellent train service taking 3hrs 40 mins from London to Bodmin Parkway, where taxis are available to bring you the 45 min drive to Pendoggett.

Buses run from Bodmin Parkway station to Wadebridge and take 30 mins.


The bustling market town of Wadebridge situated on the River Camel with its cycle trail is 15 mins by car and a further 15 mins will bring you to Padstow and its renowned restaurants and shops. Inland within 15 mins you can be parked at the foot of Rough Tor, the highest point on Bodmin moor with its rocky outcrop affording stunning 360 views. The NT's Lanhydrock house with its beautiful gardens, Restormel Castle at Lostwithiel and walks beside the river Fowey are all within 30 mins drive.

Further Details:

The nearest small shops are in Port Isaac including the co-op, fresh fish, gift stores and cafes. Trevathan farm shop and cafe at St Endellion is less than 5 mins by car. The market town of Wadebridge is 15 mins by car and has a large Tesco, banks, post office, a variety of interesting individual shops and sports centre. The village pub is 5 mins walk up the road and the award winning St Kew Inn a few mins by car.

Booking Notes:
A 25% deposit is required to secure your booking, the balance to be paid 6 weeks before your arrival. Payments by BAC's & cheque only. Booking terms are available on application. For short breaks of less than 1 week,the whole amount will be payable at time of Changeover Day: Dogs are charged at £25 per stay.
Changeover day is Friday in high season with departure by 10am and arrival from 4pm. However there is flexibility.
Short stays - long weekends or midweek breaks are welcome so please do enquire.
