Converted Piggery In The New Forest

Overview

Property

Updated: 05-Dec-2016
House in Brockenhurst, New Forest, Hampshire, England - Situated In The Grounds Of An 18th Century Farmhouse

A delightful converted piggery in the heart of the New Forest but with limited cooking facilities, consisting of a microwave and two hobs, there is no cooker at the moment. There is a local pub within short walking distance (5 mins). Even closer that the pub is a farm shop and vineyard which includes a garden centre and day restaurant/tea room. Brockenhurst Village is about a 20 minute walk away with restaurants, pubs and village shops. Also the quaint but busy harbour town of Lymington is just 3 miles away. The amenities include over an acre of the private grounds and many forest walks from the doorstep.

I had a very cosy stay in the Piggery!

  • 5 of 5

I stayed in the Piggery with my 2 black labradors for 2 glorious nights! I wanted a few days break from my London life and I got it. I returned home feeling relaxed. Perfect. All I wanted to do was walk and have early nights!! I got both in abundance.

The Piggery is small but everything works and Lizzie the Owner, is just lovely. Very helpful with everything!

I cooked myself pasta in the evenings on the little hob but there are millions of place you can eat out close by!! There is a toaster and obviously a kettle!! There is a small fridge too. Perfect.

The bed is very comfy. I slept peacefully each night. In fact I moved the tv to opposite the bed and watched it from the bed!!! Heaven.

I really enjoyed my stay and YES if Lizzie let's me stay again, the dogs and I will be back!!!

An ideal hideaway and retreat

  • 5 of 5

We needed a few days away and booked the "Piggery" for us two and our dog Alfie. We found the location quite easily and as we drove up the drive thought wow what a lovely location. The grounds surrounding the accommodation are stunning. The "Piggery" is small but big enough for two of us and Alfie. There is everything you need there. Everything has been thought of. I thought i had forgotten to pack the hairdryer but guess what there is one provided. The kitchenette is small but again there is everything you need to make small meals. There is a good HOT shower and as we visited in late September the Radiator was useful for chilly evenings..Locally there is a pub with good food and this can be walked to through the woods avoiding the main road Oh yes take a TORCH with you. The gardens are beautiful and safe for the dog to run around as it is seculey fenced. He loved it!! Locally you can travel short distances to explore the forest and surrounding towns. Especially good nearby is Setley Pond where Alfie went swimming and loved it. Take your basicswith you and then there is a farm shop nearby at the Vineyard. The hosts were very friendly and helpful with directions. A Great getaway from it all. Thank you.

Compact and bijou!

  • 4 of 5

I stayed at the Piggery in August and found it delightful. I was with my daughter and two small children (one in travel cot provided) and it suited us perfectly for visiting Peppa Pig World.

It was cosy for us, but we knew it would be, ideal for two/three people, small kitchen but well equipped and a good shower room.

The owner was very helpful and her children are lovely.

There is space to sit outside with table and chairs if weather permits. We enjoyed our stay very much. Would recommend it to friends.

An ideal Piggery for a getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Myself, my partner and our spaniel visited the Piggery in early August (and will be again at the end of the month as we enjoyed our stay so much!). The Piggery was pleasantly decorated with all the essentials you would need for a getaway while exploring the Forest. We found the location of the Piggery perfect for us, which is just South of Brockenhurst, as this meant we were already in the heart of the Forest and a thirty second drive to some great walks and biking areas.

A ten second drive, or short walk, in the other direction took us to the local Vineyard which had a very good store of local produce in the Farm Shop, a nursery for gifts, 'the' best tearoom we found during our stay and good wine.

As I've said already, we're returning in a couple of weeks to make the most of the Summer and found the location, building and Lizzie all ideal. Lizzie was happy to assist in recommending local pubs and restaurants and The Fleur de Lys was a superb choice for a delicious meal on one of our evenings.

Finally, Bess our spaniel was able to roam free in the secure garden and we didn't have to worry about her escaping or getting on the road, which was very reassuring and worth noting for any dog owners looking for a small place to stay.

dissapointed

  • 1 of 5

location was great, sadly the piggery was filthy and badly maintained.

would not recommend to anyone.

Towels and bed linen were awful, would like to add the photos!!

The property needs deep clean, and repairs done.

Perfect

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from our stay in the Piggery, and I couldn't resist writing a review just to really recommend the property to others. Myself my partner and our westie loved it there. The property itself was spotlessly clean, had everything u needed and was situated in a fantastic spot as a Base to travel round the New Forest. It was quiet and was lovely to come and go as we pleased. Lizzie was helpful with her communication before our arrival and was very friendly. I wouldnt hesitate on booking again x
