Apartment in Ambleside, Lake District, Cumbria - Peaceful Location, Short Stroll To Lake Shore And 10 Minutes Walk To Ambleside Centre.

Set in four acres of pretty gardens with its own private parking space, this traditional lakeland stone property has two bedrooms (a double and a twin), living room, dining kitchen and bathroom. Being a first floor apartment, it is accessed via a private external staircase with its own bench positioned directly outside the front door from where the views of the gardens and variety of wildlife can be enjoyed. The large original Georgian windows in the living room and both bedrooms frame the picture perfect views of Loughrigg Fell and beyond. The location is hard to beat, being just a short stroll from the shores of Lake Windermere and Waterhead where there are restaurants, shops, cafes, a pub serving great food and of course the lakeland steamers offering cruises to the many towns located around the lake. The bustling centre of Ambleside is just an easy flat ten minutes walk away and there are endless walks from the doorstep (maps for which are provided in the apartment's info pack). Our normal changeover day is Friday. Please enquire about the possibility of short breaks.

Why Jon Hitchin chose Windermere & Central Lakes

We bought the property because of its fantastic location - a stone's throw from Lake Windermere and a ten minute walk to the centre of Ambleside. Whilst the area can be very busy with lots going on, the apartment is very peaceful being in its own grounds of about four acres.

There is so much to do. Our children love it there - within walking distance of the apartment are a park, mini golf, tennis, two cinemas, an indoor play centre, a climbing wall and boats to hire on Lake Windermere. Brockholes is only a five minute drive away with its adventure playground and tree top adventure course. There are lots more activities in the area and there are lots of opportunities for walking around Ambleside.

Wetherlam combines the best of both worlds - a wonderfully peaceful location in splendid grounds but surprisingly close to local amenities and transport links. A 5 minute stroll through Borrans Park to Waterhead takes you to the steamer pier and buses to all major towns and villages in the area. Turn the other way for Ambleside and its many shops, cafes and pubs. For keen walkers there is an abundance of possibilities. The apartment is light, airy and very comfortable with splendid views. In all a delightful place to stay and enjoy the Lakes - Mr F, 12/6/13



We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Ambleside and found the apartment spacious, clean and well-maintained. The kitchen is well stocked. Good location being within east walking distance of Ambleside and great not needing to use the car. The children took advantage of the outside space - Mr & Mrs H, 3/6/13

Notes on accommodation: The property is accessed by an external private staircase leading to the front door. Sorry no pets or smokers. Outside: The apartment is in four acres of grounds which it shares with eight other apartments. The gardens have several benches to sit and admire the views of the surrounding mountains. There is also a wooded area and plenty of wildlife, in particular deer. The apartment has its own bench outside the front door from which the views of the gardens can be enjoyed. The nearby Lake Windermere comes into view on the stroll down the property's driveway. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The property is thoroughly cleaned before all guests arrive. Fresh bed linen is provided. Guests are asked to bring their own towels.

Our week at this apartment was lovely. The place was perfectly equipped for our family of 4. The location was great with access to walks, boats and easy driving to nearby towns and other amazing areas. Highly recommend!

Wetherlam - a lovely stay

We had a lovely week and found the apartment to be clean, cosy, warm and well located. The kitchen is well equipped and the bedrooms are fine (the bathroom a little small and we didn't particularly like the 'fire-escape' steps especially when wet up to the apartment but that was the only downside and it was clear from the website that this was the access route). Would very possibly stay again if wanting a week in Ambleside - it is really exceptional value.

With a 3 year old we loved Wray Castle & Allan Crag, Grasmere - both National Trust and fantastic fun if weather isn't great. Eating out would recommend Dodds in the evening (although lunch was very average) and Homeground in Windemere is fab (closed Wednesday). Chesters by the river at Skelwith Bridge is also great for cake and there is a nice low level walk along the river to Elterwater - ideal with little ones.

Home from home!

The apartment was very well equipped and the kitchen had all you need should you want to cook. Very comfortable and quiet, with lovely grounds to explore or just sit and enjoy the views. Very close to Lake Windermere and a short walk to Ambleside if you fancy a bit more entertainment - lots of pubs and restaurants - try Lucy's on a Plate or Zefferellis - good food and atmosphere. Will definitely return!

Manchester Airport is around two hours drive away. There is a train station approximately three miles away and there are bus services to the surrounding towns and lakes. Detailed directions will be emailed to guests.

Distances:

Waterhead is a few minutes stroll from the apartment. Ambleside is a ten minutes walk away and Windermere is about three miles away. Coniston, Grasmere, Keswick, Ullswater and Hawkshead are all within half an hour's drive.

Further Details:

There is a Tesco Express, Spar and Co-op in the centre of Ambleside. If in the car, there is a Booths supermarket three miles away in Windermere. There is a Post Office, Barclays and Nat West along with lots of shops, pubs and restaurants in the centre of Ambleside.

A non refundable deposit of 25% is payable on booking to secure the reservation.
The balance of the rental charge is due 8 weeks prior to the start of the rental period. For bookings made within 8 weeks of the start of the rental period, full payment is required to secure the reservation.
A security deposit of £100 is required to be paid with the balance of the rental charge. This will be returned in full within 10 days after the end of the rental period if no breakages/damage have occurred.
