About Murray Jones

We bought this lovely house in January 2013 and have been working hard to bring it up to a premium standard holiday let. We have added solid wooden floors, halogen down lighting with a classic country interior design with a contemporary feel. Our many guests immediately get the 'Wow' factor when walking through the front door. We have also added touches such as Egyptian cotton sheets to make the stay extra special. At the end of the day, nothing beats the amazing view from all the windows of this house. The river Wye is enchanting and this house is situated directly above it. We have two black Labradors and, when we stay here, we make full use of the river by taking them for frequent swimming and ball chasing in front of the house.

Why Murray Jones chose Herefordshire

Herefordshire is an amazing place, there is so much beautiful countryside and so few people here ! The view from this house is across to the other side of the river where there are no roads, just fields, horses and woodland as far as the eye can see. It's not really well known and we hope to keep it that way - a hidden secret !

The river Wye has been recognised for its beauty ever since tourists started coming to the area in the late 1700s.

The village of Hoarwithy has remained largely unchanged and is about as quiet and peaceful as you could wish for.

What makes this cottage unique

It is rare for property to sit right on the banks of a river - with only a narrow country lane separating the two.

The property sits high up enough to afford fabulous views.

The cottage enjoys a south-easterly aspect so that you can enjoy fabulous sunrises.

The garden behind the house rises up to provide even more impressive views and is covered by mixed woodland.

wonderful birthday weekend

  • 5 of 5

Everything we expected. Well appointed cottage with wonderful views of river and rolling countryside. Too many things we liked to list, but chiller drinks cabinet was a bonus, as was children's den, with DVD player - meant the adults had their own time of relaxation. Great we could take a dog as well. We couldn't have chosen better.

Wonderful house overlooking the river

  • 5 of 5

The house is in an idyllic spot and it is wonderfully decorated and very comfortable. My extended family stayed here for a reunion of sorts (2 sons and fiance, parents and grand parent). There is so much to do in this local area if you like nature or if you simply want to relax you could not find a more wonderful spot. The house was clean and all information provided about places to eat and so forth. I would highly recommend staying here!

Everything about the house was fantastic.

  • 5 of 5

For the sixth year a group of mums go away for a long weekend. Two of the group make all the arrangements and keep everything secret and all is not revealed until we pull up at the address. A bit of a risk but we have been lucky each year and this year was no exception. The house exceeded our expectations, the photos don't do it justice as it doesn't show how roomy it is, the great reception area, how tastefully it is decorated, how well equipped the kitchen is, the beauty of the garden, the tranquillity that you feel when you walk through the door and knowing that you have made a great choice. The location was convienent and enabled us to get out and enjoy the days, plenty to see, do, pubs to eat in and an area to visit again for sure.

Great Christmas retreat

  • 5 of 5

Wanted a larger property for a family Christmas near Hereford. The property fitted the brief in terms of size and location. It was very nicely decorated, very clean and comfortable. Easy to contact caretaker whilst there, booking and payment via owner was all completed via e mail discussion which made it efficient.

Great walking area, some lovely pubs to get good meals if you want a task free stay. Would make a great all year round place to stay though heavy snow may make this difficult on some roads so too if Wye floods but in summer it would be a joy, would love to sit on terrace sip a glass of wine and watch river rolling by. Would return and recommend. It's an expensive property especially if you are funding stay for others but I would pay the price just to have the treat of staying in such a lovely location.
