You can watch seals basking on the rocks from the kitchen window and even enjoy occasional visits from otters.

The cottage is artistically decorated with original artwork, Cath Kidson accessories, White Company linens and local craftworks.

Wi fi, TV.

Outside is a third of an acre of enclosed garden overlooking the Loch.

Beaches are a couple of minutes walk away.

All linen, towels, soaps and a welcome pack of groceries are provided.

Heating and solid fuel included.

The cottage is in an exceptionally quiet position yet only 4 miles from the shops, pubs and cafes of Dunvegan and 25 minutes from Portree.

Please note, the cottage is looked after by our housekeeper, Donna. We kindly request that you leave the cottage clean and tidy. Donna does not have time to do a deep clean between changeovers, so the oven in particular needs to be left as you found it. We get a deep clean done between bookings when we can, but during high season this is not always possible. Please be considerate and leave the cottage in a clean and tidy state. Thank you.

We are a gay friendly establishment.

Why Frank Bruce chose Isle of Skye

We fell in love with Vatten Cottage because of its especially peaceful location. We could simply open the doors and let the boys play outside, and walk off in any direction to get a wonderful view of the Cuillins or MacLeods tables. At night there are often fantastic clear views of the Milky Way.

We are all into history and the island is full of traces of a fascinating past. In particular there are many prehistoric remains within easy reach.

What makes this cottage unique

Location overlooking the water. Down a long track off the road. Cosy cottage with open fire. Spectacular views.

Very peaceful and well equipped cottage. Set in peaceful location overlooking sea and moorland. We loved the log fire and the cosy bed! Everything we needed was there and even a welcome pack of groceries which was nice! Loved the views! There is a mini mart and restaurants in Dunvegan approx 10 m drive. X

Loved staying here

  • 5 of 5

Quirky cottage full of character, in a great location on the Loch with fantastic views. The house keeper and the owners could not do more to ensure our stay was as comfortable as possible, communication throughout our stay was excellent. I look forward to coming back to 1Vatten Cottage and recommend this cottage to anyone coming to the Isle of Skye who wants a quiet retreat whole heartedly.

Spacious cottage with scenic loch views

  • 5 of 5

The "Vatten-One" cottage was excellently situated at the borders of Loch Bharcasaig in the little village Vatten, close to Dunvegan. It was spacious for the two of us, and has a cosy living room with nice views on the surrounding nature. We visited Skye for its wildlife, and for bird watching in particular. From the garden of the cottage, we often had a kind of preview of what the island could offer us with respect to bird watching: preying buzzards in the skye, curlews, a nesting sedge warbler with a fantastic love-song, those were fantastic observations right from the cottage ! Day-trips to Glen Brittle and Neist Point are easy to be undertaken, and also Portree and the North-West Coast are well within reach by car. The classical sea-eagle boat-trip leaving from Portree Harbour is also a nice experience, though a bit commercially amplified. Sun-set at the Loch is marvellous, but also with rough weather the splashing waves and the rain showers are nice to watch from the inside of the cottage. Restaurants in Dunvegan are at close distance, and of good quality, but surprisingly, very busy (especially the Old School, which is one of the better restaurants in that area). The cottage has further fine bathroom and kitchen facilities, and the property was in pretty clean state. Communication with the owner via the Email went on very smoothly. In conclusion, our stay at the Vatten-One Cottage is certainly one of the highlights of our Scotland trip.

Beautiful little Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We had the most wonderful week in Loch Vatten cottage. We were a family of 4- our two boys aged 10 and 12 had an incredible week exploring Skye and climbing Macleod's Tables and the mighty Marsco. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. The cottage was well-equipped and beautifully furnished and decorated. It was immaculately clean and had many kind and thoughtful touches. There was a bowl of cheese, biscuits, eggs and marmalade waiting on the table and all of the bedding and towels are high quality. The views are breathtaking and the cottage very snug and cosy on windy Skye nights. Highly recommend.

Another World

  • 5 of 5

I had been looking for a special place to spend a month on the Isle of Skye to walk and paint and spend time on my own and Vatten Cottage was perfect. Even in the blizzards and gales of March the the cottage was a safe haven to venture out from. The ever changing views to the loch and MacLeods Tables are truly wonderful. The cottage was warm and so cosy with its open fire. It has been thoughtfully furnished and decorated with some beautiful paintings and prints on the walls. It was well equipped and clean. I can't think there was anything I wanted. It is in a great position to explore the north part of the island. You don't have to go far to find ever more stunning vistas and special places. I had a wonderful time even in March before many of the galleries, cafés and shops were open for the season. During the month I had as many beautiful warm, sunny days as I did cold and rainy ones. I saw golden and sea eagles, more stars than I have ever seen in my life and the northern lights to name a few truly memorable times. I loved it!
