Garden Wing

What a fabulous place to stay! We were met and shown around by Graham, who explained all we needed to know. Margaret had already sent us a list of items in the property and which cupboard to find them in. The welcome hamper was a lovely touch, especially the lemon drizzle cake! We spent the first hour or so wondering around in awe at the Arts and Craft decor. Everything you need is there, including a barbecue, though sadly we didn't get to use it as the weather wasn't great. We did manage a very long walk around Edale and enjoyed the Country Day on the Sunday. The large garden at the property is lovely to meander round too and also very well designed. There are 2 pubs within walking distance, The Nag's Head and The Rambler. We also had a very good meal at the Cheshire Cheese in Hope. All in all a very relaxing weekend.

We were recommended the Garden Wing by friends and we would certainly pass on the recommendation to our friends.

THE GARDEN WING

Had a lovely time in the Garden Wing. Margaret greeted us and treated us

to a superb cake that sustained us on three excellent walks around

Edale. Thanks for all the other goodies and for the bottle of red from

Graham. We thoroughly enjoyed the cottage and our stay.

Edmund Heyes

(Tuesday, April 15 14 08:25 am BST)

Having travelled up by train from London, we made it to the Ramblers Inn and asked them if they knew of our contact, Graham, for The Meads. “Yep, he called to say he’ll be 5 minutes and suggested you both have a drink on his tab in the meantime.” He turned up just a few minutes later and joined us for the drink! I had presumed we were meeting him due to our destination being hidden far away somewhere (I’ll admit my partner had done all the organising for this trip), but it was just a minute or so away – he was just making absolutely sure we had no further troubles finding the place.

That thoughtfulness and effort was echoed throughout our whole stay. We arrived to a bottle of wine, some fresh bread and a delicious cake (the remains of which I took with us on our walk the following day)! The place was spotless and I can’t remember wanting for anything – we had wifi, a TV with a selection of DVDs, an amazing wet shower room – even a few handy torches, one of which I used to go and say hi to my brother who was camping nearby. This is all without actually mentioning the place itself, which is so full on and crazy that it really, really works – a lot of fun.

My partner was (and still is, just) pregnant, so it was more of a pottering around weekend than a hardy walking one. We spent a really pleasant hour just walking round the garden – you’ll be amazed at how much work has gone into the place.

In all, a thoroughly enjoyable long weekend and we’re hoping to visit again sometime in the near future. Thank you!!

Owner's Response: Thank you Edmund for your wonderfully detailed review. It is so useful for us to find out what guests really thought of their stay and very informative for other guests wanting to book. I am so glad you enjoyed your stay so much in 'the garden wing'. I am also glad you enjoyed the welcome basket and my home made cake and bread I always do chocolate as it seems to be the most preferred one! We do our utmost to make sure that guests get the very most out of their break with us and it is lovely to be appreciated. Looking forward to seeing you both (3) again and meeting baby.
