Great Place to Stay

  • 5 of 5

This house is excellent - comfortable and very well equipped. Barbara and Aldona made sure that we had everything we needed.

The house is within walking distance of Kenmare which is a very pleasant town with many restaurants and bars as well as shops of all sorts.

It is very convenient for driving the Kerry Ring and the Ring of Beara both of which are beautiful. We also drove round the Dingle Peninsula and visited Bantry and the Sheep's Head peninsula. All are beautiful and unspoilt and very quiet.

The road to Killarney is particularly picturesque and we drove it a number of times seeing new things each time.

The people we met were all friendly although some were very concerned about Brexit!

We would definitely recommend coming here for a holiday.

Want to come back

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay in this nice cottage.

The Priory was a perfect base for our explorations of Kenmare and the surroundings, with all the comforts of home.

Barbara was so welcoming and answered our many questions. She helped to organize a nice Dinner for my husband’s 50th birthday, what was very special.

We enjoyed our magical stay, and would recommend the Priory in a heartbeat!

Thanks to Barbara.

Best holiday home ever

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here in July 2015 for a week and it was the best house we have ever rented. The house was immaculate, clean and tidy and the owner Barbara has thought of everything for all ages. I still can’t believe how well equipped the kitchen is, everything you need at your fingertips.

Kenmare is a great wee village with great restaurants, pubs & cafes. We were meeting American cousins who were flying in from New York the day we arrived and we wanted to treat them to dinner in a nice restaurant. Barbara the owner, not only recommended Davitt’s but she also booked it for us and we had an exceptional experience.

We done the two major road trips – Ring of Kerry & Dingle peninsula-and they were superb but Beara Peninsula should be included in this as it was also magnificent. Make sure you drive through Healy’s Pass, what an experience!

We visited Killarney several times and took in Muckross house and gardens on hired bikes, the National Park on the jaunting cars and Gap of Dungloe on Horse & cart. Next time I would walk the Gap or hire a bike as you can travel further than by horse! Also, cart can only take 4 people and as there were 5 of us one had to ride a horse!

Bike hire is available near to Gleneagles Hotel in Killarney.

Each day we were out touring no matter if sun was shining or raining heavily we always looked forward to coming to the house as it was a home away from home.

Thanks Barbara, we will be back.

A Superb House

  • 5 of 5

For anybody looking for peace and quiet, whilst being within walking distance of a small town, this is the place. We spent a wonderful week at the best house we've ever rented. It's spacious, clean and light and the kitchen is amazingly well equipped. The view from the garden is so beautiful. The owners are really lovely and went out of their way to help us with everything.

Kenmare itself, just 10 minutes walk away, is delightful, with its lovely craft shops and caf?s (we recommend the Truffle Pig for homemade cakes and other delicacies),and if you're stuck for something to do on a rainy day with the kids, don't miss visiting the local library.( It also offers free internet.) We enjoyed the "Seafari" cruise which leaves daily from the harbour to see seals, with its crazy singing captain! Great fun. There is also a day camp nearby where children can enjoy water sports.

If you like walking, not to be missed is the Gleninchiquin Waterfall, about a 15 minute drive away, but absolutely stunning. There is a small entrance fee but well worth it.

We did the Ring of Kerry and were unanimous in deciding that the most beautiful scenery is between Kenmare and Killarney, especially "Ladies View." Be prepared for lots of bends and unsuspecting sheep in the middle of the road!

We were sad when the week was up but have fallen in love with Ireland and plan to return!

Thank you Barbara and Jimmy!
