Very quiet rural location, yet very near to amenities, shops, forest, market towns, lakes, castles.

Near to Le Mont St Michel, Fougeres, Cancale, St Malo, Avranches.

Stunning rural, renovated farmhouse and cottage which can be let together or separately. Sitting in the verdant countryside of this varied and interesting area of France, 'le Pont Dauphin' provides a wonderful venue for a perfect holiday. The farmhouse and cottage are at the center of the property separated by a large courtyard with more than ample parking. In the courtyard there is a tiled, roofed dining area for those who prefer to while away their time in the shade. Le Pont Dauphin is central to many wonderful places and interesting things to see. Easy access to Avranches, Fougeres, Mortain, Lakes, the beaches of both Normandy and Brittany, Mont St Michel and so many other fascinating places.

The Farmhouse is very spacious and comfortable.

Downstairs has a farmhouse kitchen with central island on which there is a hob and sink, with cooker and microwave under the counter. Very well equipped with two fridges/ freezers, dishwasher, washing machine. Heaps of glassware and crockery, pots and pans.

The entrance hall has a shower room with lavatory .

There is a large sitting room with two french windows, one looking over the front and one looking out onto a terrace which runs the length of the back of the house, giving a very private space for enjoying the outside of the property. This room has a flat screen TV with satellite channels, three large sofas and a fireplace with log burner.

The dining rooms is off the kitchen and is very large and a wonderful place for enjoying sociable meals around the large oak table. This room is bright and has two large french windows.

Off the dining room is the summer room which is very light with two sofas and two armchairs, no tv, this room offers a quiet space looking onto a shrubbery and the BBQ.

The upstairs of the farmhouse is divided into two halves, each has it's own staircase. Each half has a bathroom with lavatory and sink and bath/ shower.

One of the landings has two bedrooms, each with a double and a single bed. The other landing has a room with double and single and the other bedroom is a twin.

The arrangement of the upstairs is great for groups who want to feel that they have a space of their own.

The cottage is on the opposite side of the large courtyard from the farmhouse and is totally independent, so that it can be rented with the farmhouse or on it's own.

With it's own lawn with garden furniture and own BBQ.

Downstairs the front door opens into a kitchen / dining room. This kitchen is very well equipped, with cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. Plenty of glassware and crockery.

The sitting room is very comfortable with two sofas and two armchairs, and coffee table. There is a flat screen TV with satellite channels.There is a beautiful granite chiminee with a log burning stove for winter use.French windows look onto the courtyard.

The bathroom is downstairs and offers a bath / shower and sink.

Upstairs there is a bedroom with a double and a single bed. There is also a cot available if needed.

The Pont Dauphin sits in a large garden with separate areas for each house.

Running the length of the back of the farmhouse is a large terrace, with wooden garden table and chairs and BBQ. A pergola with vines which are developing well are an attractive feature, which also affords some shade.

A large playing field has swings and climbing apparatus for small children. There is also a very large stone barn with badminton net, basket ball net and darts and table tennis.

The cottage has it's own garden area with wooden table and chairs and BBQ.

About Mr F & Mrs C Mahon

We have lived in France for over 13 years and therefore have excellent local knowledge which we enjoy sharing with our guests if they would like ideas or advice on where to go to eat or which beach would suit them.. We do not live on site,but we are just five minutes away in the next village should we be needed.

We lived in West Sussex, where we were secondary school teachers.

Mr F & Mrs C Mahon purchased this farmhouse in 2007

Family Holiday in France

On arrival at Le Pont Dauphin we were met by Frank and Chris and shown around the property ....... quite simply the house was amazing ....... the pictures do not do it justice, it was perfect and just what we wanted!! We had a fantastic week and by following the recommendations of Frank and Chris we had both days out (local market, restaurants and visits: the fun park being the highlight) and days lounging by the pool enjoying the facilities. I would most certainly recommend this property to anyone that wants a nice quiet family holiday in a rural location........ Perfect holiday and great value for money!!! Thank you Frank and Chris.

Nearest Airport : Pleurtuit at 45 Kilometres Car: recommended

Special interest holidays:

We offer immersion courses for students of English, as your hosts are both qualified teachers.

We also offer French courses for debutants and intermediate students.

Coast/Beach:

The long sandy beaches of southern Normandie are a 30 minute drive away.

The Brittany coastline, with it's little coves and beautiful beaches are about 45 minutes away by car.

Travel:

Nearest Ports - Cherbourg & Caen are 1 1/2 hour drive, St Malo 1 hour, Le Harvre 2 hours.

Nearest Airport - Dinard - 1 hour drive.

Distances:

Fougeres is 20 mins away with it's beautiful Forest, Medieval Quarter and Castle lively streets and cafes

Avranches has a charming centre with restaurants and cafes.

Mortain, 20 mins away with L'Abbaye Blanche and waterfalls with riverside walks.Near Mortain is the Chateau at Milly, offering free information and tastings of the Calvados and Pomeau which is produced there.

Half an hour to Normandy or Brittany beaches for bathing/walks/water sports.

The Basilique of Pontmain is 30 mins away.

Please contact owner who will send you a Booking Form on receipt of which you will be sent the details for payment and detailed directions.
Payment can be made by Bank Transfer on line or at any Bank.
We require payment in full 8 weeks prior to your holiday.

Changeover Day:
Usually Saturday but please contact owner and if possible we will be flexible.

Notes on prices:
The prices include bedding, tea towels and hand towels.

Heating is included however there is a heating supplement from October to April for the central heating.

An initial basket of logs is provided, additional logs can be ordered.

We require a breakages/ extra cleaning deposit which is returned to you in pounds after your stay.

The house should be left clean and arranged as you found it. If because of Ferry times this is difficult you can pay for cleaning which is 80 euros.

There is a deposit of £200 per week to reserve your holiday dates.
The full balance is due 8 weeks before arrival, plus the returnable security deposit.
The payments are made by online banking transfer to our account in England or at any branch.

Cancellations

We try our best to re-book weeks that are cancelled, however if we cannot we will take a rate depending on when the cancellation is made.

Notes:

  • Notes on accommodation: Free wi-fi, can be turned off on request. Outside: Behind the farmhouse is a large terrace with BBQ and table and chairs for dining outside. The pool is heated by solar panels and has alongside a decking area with good quality wooden loungers. It is fenced and secure. Its dimensions are 7 metres by 3.5m and 1.25m deep. The pool is for the use of both the farmhouse and cottage. There is a large garden in which are garden swings and climbing ropes for youngsters. There are other parts to the garden for those seeking a quiet corner to go and read or listen to the sounds of the countryside. Off the courtyard we have a tiled covered area for dining or for those who want a shaded spot.
