About the property

Aparthouse Napoleon / Guesthouse in Jelsa, Island of Hvar, Croatia - Charming, Sea Side, Sea View

The house was built in 2007, in Dalmatian luxury stile. It has 6 beautiful 4 stars apartments/units named after typical little fish species that you can see around the port of Jelsa. All balconies and terraces are turned to the sea side (20 meters air line). The materials that are used for the interiors are of high quality with the marble imported from Tuscany. Designers are well known experts from Italy who gave special attention to furniture, colors and traditional simple luxury. Each apartment can accommodate maximum 5 persons (2 + 3 ) but it is perfect for 2. All apartments have large comfortable balcony/terrace. Free parking is about 100 metres far, narrow city center is about 5 minutes walk and first public beach is about 5-10 minutes walk from the Napoleon Apartments.

About Margarita

Currently I live in Zagreb with my family but I consider Jelsa to be my second home.

Why Margarita chose Hvar

Island Hvar has two faces: one which is all about sun, sea, parties, and great night life in general, and the other side completely different, characterized as paradise to escape to, get away from the crowd to a natural harmony of the island. Jelsa is the perfect mixture of the two.

It is situated behind the original old house (500 years old, also called Napoleon) just 20 meters from the main waterfront, sea and promenade of Jelsa.The nearby old house stands as a cultural value of the village, with one of the best restaurants in Hvar, being situated in what once was basement, next to the sea level. The restaurant is also called Napoleon.

Holiday of a lifetime!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay in Jelsa was absolutely amazing. We were with a group of 30 women and we booked all the apartments. The apartments are right next to the water, with small boats just in front. The town of Jelsa was perfect for our needs. Small enough to walk around easily, with plenty of restaurants, a couple of bars and supermarkets nearby. There is a lot to do, we rented kayaks, scooters, small motorboats, went windsurfing and snorkling. The area is just stunning, beautiful water, and by scooter you can explore the island easily. There is a nice place to swim just a couple 100 meters from the apartments. The food at "me and mrs Jones", right next to the apartments, was delicious. Even in high season, we had no trouble arranging diner every day for 30 people. From the start, the contact with Margarita was very pleasant. We didn't actually meet her, but she arranged everything perfectly. Everyone was very helpful and friendly. The tourist information is just around the corner.

There was a fun blog written about our stay:

http://www.total-hvar.com/index.php/hvar-blog/item/the-most-uplifting-jelsa-tourism-story-of-the-summer-a-dutch-invasion"

Holiday of a lifetime, we will definitely come back to this beautiful place!

Location

From the Owner

Island Hvar has two faces: one which is all about sun, sea, parties, and great night life in general, and the other side completely different, characterized as paradise to escape to, get away from the crowd to a natural harmony of the island. Jelsa is the perfect mixture of the two.

Activity and Interests

Coast/Beach:

Just like the rest of Hvar, the area of Jelsa has a well-indented coastline where guests can relax and truly enjoy themselves.

In the downtown of Jelsa near the apartments there are nice little churches, squares, parks, restaurants, cocktail bars, shops, and little coffee-shops, etc.

The beach is in other direction, 10 minutes walk from the apart-hotel Napoleon and is very suitable both for children and adults, with small pebbles and nice shade from the characteristic Mediterranean pine-trees.

Travel:

Nearest airport is in Split (for private and small planes the nearest is airport on Brac).

The recommended way to travel to Hvar is from city of Split by ferry. It will take you to port of Starigrad on Hvar in little under two hours. Ferry departs 4 to 5 times a day every day of the week. From there you can get to Jelsa in 10 minutes by car or taxi. We can arrange a taxi or a rent a car to wait for you (extra charged).

Car hire is recommended, so that you can explore the whole island.

Distances:

The ferry port in Stari grad is about 10 km distance form Jelsa (about 10 minutes by car).

The town of Hvar is about 30 km distance.

Nearby points of interest on the island: Hvar town, Stari Grad, many nice beaches and inland villages, etc.

On the coast: Split, Dubrovnik, Krka, Trogir, Korcula, Plitvice, Mostar, Medugorje, etc.

Further Details:

Apart from sun, sea, food and drink you can discovering Hvar in terms of:

- Sports like kayaking, rock climbing, cycling, deep sea fishing, diving, fishing, walking, swimming, rowing, running, etc.

- Agricultural experiences (harvesting olives, grapes, lavender, figs / ticket based);

- Isolation to ”restart” yourself in the nature and small local community (catering possible);

- Wine and olive oil culture and testing;

- Bird watching, fishing watching (for groups);

- Skraping (walking on the coastline rocks) (for groups);

- Cooking course and diet – Mediterranean cuisine (for groups);

- Island hopping;

- Procession of the Cross (Procesija za križem) 500 years old tradition (17.04.2014.)

*Out of season periods are also highly recommended if you wish to relax and experience harmony of the island (May, September and October).
