The property is an large old fashioned Normandy farmhouse. Its located on a small road just off the minor road between two villages. The farmhouse is located within 4 acres, although some of this land is used for grazing sheep.The house is ideal for 2 people or a group of 18 the house is over 3 zones for sleeping with 3 areas sleeping upto 4 people with their own shower/wc rooms. Holidays, family get togethers or groups of friends.Heated outdoor pool from April to October

We live in rural Herefordshire with our 2 young children on an old farm. We love France and wanted to be able to holiday with our young family in an environment as rural as we live in.

Why Jono Smith-Milne chose Manche

We bought The Apple Orchard as a project early in 2013. It is a fabulously rural location and yet so close to so many of the attractions and things to do in Normandy. We have completed all the jobs inside the farmhouse; adding more new electrics; new water heating system; new fosse septic system; total decoration; installation of new wood burning stove; installation of more radiators and servicing of existing boiler. It is a wonderful quirky, very french property - which is fun and unique to stay in,it also has a heated outside pool opens from April to October

What makes this house unique

The property is in a very quiet location but only 3 miles from the lovely old market town of St Hilaire. Sheep and Lambs graze in a secure area of the property and there is an apple orchard at the rear of the property. The main house is south facing and the front garden has sunshine all day,heated outdoor pool.

Its within 40 minutes drive to fabulous sandy beaches, Mont St Michel and Mortain with its amazing waterfalls. Great central location to explore all the things Normandy has to offer.

Notes on accommodation: This is a quirky old farmhouse. Essentially the upstairs of the house is split into 3 distinct areas, and downstairs has 3 separate living areas (Lounge/Kitchen/Dining) Outside: New heated swimming pool from March 2014. There is a good size garden and the orchard to explore or feed the sheep with the old bread! There is a set of swings for children to use. We request that guests do not access the old barn on the property for safety reasons. Utility Room: In the boiler room there is a washing machine, dryer and additional upright fridge/freezer. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Linen & bath towels are included. Cleaning is also included although we do expect guests to leave the house as they find hoover and mop as a minimum an additional charge from your deposit will apply if the oven is dirty . If you require a linen change a call out and extra charge will apply. Other: Dining area in bottom end of farmhouse with oak table and chairs seating up to 18

Peaceful Rural Location

With a family of 12, 6 adults and 6 children, properties of this size are limited and the separate parts with three staircases suited us particularly. The attention to detail is first class, all facilities etc are exactly as described, and contributed to an excellent week's holiday. The one service issue we in the house was immediately solved by one phone call to the owner resulting in attendance by his property manager within minutes.

Great place to stay

The Orchard is a fantastic farmhouse that is full of character. There were 13 of us (3 families) and the layout of the farm meant you could all be together but if you needed some peace you could have your own space. The kids loved the heated pool. There are lots of things to do within easy driving distance and I would recommend this for a great holiday.

Fantastic, spacious house that ticked all the boxes.

This house is amazing. There were 18 of us in the group and the layout of the house matched our requirements perfectly and with the number of bathrooms there was never a queue! Everything we needed was provided, from washing machine to wi-fi. We could tell that the owners had thought thoroughly about what their customers would need for an enjoyable stay. We enjoyed a couple of day trips but mostly spent our days by the pool. Would highly recommend and would definitely go back.

Brilliant gite for a family or families holiday

We had a great time here. The property was clean and well equipped. Quirky and charming, rather than top end, it suited us perfectly. As a a relatively small group, we did not use all the bedrooms, but the ones we used were great as was the kitchen and lounge. The heating was excellent on the few occasions we needed it. In fact, all we really needed was to light the wood-burner in the lounge to heat up the whole area.

With a heated pool, a large barbecue, a massive outside table and chairs, as well as interesting out-buildings (mostly out of bounds) and sheep in a fenced-off part of the 4.5 acre grounds, there was lots outside as well.

Very rural in setting but with a substantial town about 5 miles away, it is in a classic gite setting. Within easy reach of the great Cherbourg peninsula beaches, Mont St Michel, the Normandy beaches, the Bayeux Tapestry, and the medieval town of Dinan, there is lots to do in the surrounding area.

Lovely Family Venue/House

We chose this house as it was split up in to 3 sections under one roof with a large dining room for all of us to eat at. We were celebrating our parents anniversary and it worked very well.

Lots of land to the house for the children to play, thew pool looks fab wish it was July !! the internet speed was amazing for such a rural spot 10mbs

St Hilaire was great the market on Wednesday was huge also Mortain the waterfall was impressive. over all fab holiday

A memorable holiday

We chose this property to celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary with family - 13 of us spanning three generations. The location was ideal being in a quiet country lane, surrounded by fields and adjacent to an orchard. The town of St. Hilaire du Harcouet is about ten minutes drive away where there's a choice of supermarkets and an interesting, large, weekly street market. The characterful property was clean, well maintained and well-equipped. Outside there is plenty of open space for games of badminton and boules matches. The heated pool was a hit with all the family. I would happily return to this property and would recommend it to others.
