Perfect spot, Spotless, Great Views, Homely

Everything about our holiday was as described. Everything on the facilities list was provided and although sad to say the additional touch of great WiFi connection added to the week, particularly for our daughter. Free-view HD TV with a selection of DVDs were provided. The house was very homely and comfortable, decorated well and in touch with the surrounding area, The bedding and towels were all very clean.

The sea view was terrific as we could see down to the bay in Porthtowan, there were plenty of coastal walks around which are kept by the National trust with old tin mines sat on the edge of the cliffs. As the house was pet friendly we were not only able to take the dog with us but spoil her with some great walks with fab views.

The home was a great base for us as we were within easy reach of key places such as St Ives, Newquay and Padstow. We visited lovely beaches at Godrevy, Crantock near to Newquay and Holywell Bay at least 12 miles either side of Porthtowan. If you get the right weather which we did we experienced some stunning sunsets from the Porthtowan beach.

There are plenty of eating places around if this is what you prefer, we tended to eat at the home after days out at the beach as everything you need cook is provided. The neighbours were helpful and chatty which was useful and answered any questions we had about the local area.

We would definitely return again. Thanks

Location

From the Owner

My Wife Martine's family all live in this area and we have been coming to Porthtowan as a family since 1995. we love the area and we love staying in our house which we have owned for over 10 years. we come to stay as a break from our hectic lives in London. We always feel relaxed when we leave. The Outstanding views, the fantastic walks, the beautiful beach, and best of all spending time eating or drinking in the Blue Bar right on the beach. all of our kids love spending time here its a great place for outdoor life. Saffron who is 13 loves bodyboarding. Our 2 sons Drew 21 and Ryan 20 have enjoyed Surfing,Cycling, and Exploring over the years and now they have progressed to the Boardmasters Music Festival every summer in Newquay. My favourite pastime is walking along the coast paths.

Where is Cornwall?

Located in the far west of Great Britain on a peninsula tumbling into the vast Atlantic ocean, almost completely surrounded by the sea, a magnificent coastline wraps around Cornwall for almost 300 miles. Cornwall is also the location of mainland Great Britain's most southerly promontory, The Lizard, and one of the UK’s most westerly points, Land's End, while a few miles off shore and even further west is an archipelago of tiny islands that make up the Isles of Scilly.

What’s so special about it?

There are lots of things Cornwall is loved for; the dramatic coastline with its captivating fishing harbours; the spectacular beaches and the pounding surf that provide a natural playground for a variety of water sports; and who can forget famous Cornish pasties and luscious cream teas?

But there are also lots of things about Cornwall that may surprise you. For instance, the wilderness of captivating Bodmin Moor with its panorama of big skies, fascinating prehistoric remains, great walking trails and more than its fair share of local legends.

There's also the dynamic art scene found in mainly in West Cornwall, inspired by the naturally stunning landscape; and more recently a food scene to rival London and beyond; Cornwall now has a multitude of award-winning local food producers and stellar chefs putting the region well and truly on the gourmet map.

Cornwall also has a tremendous history based on its Celtic roots, its Celtic Cornish culture, the warmth and friendliness of the people and the Cornish language that can be seen in the village names.

And that's not all...

Take a trip around Cornwall and you’ll discover a hugely diverse landscape. In the far west where the sea turns turquoise in the sun, the sand is white and the natural light is sometimes blindingly bright, the land is adorned with a legacy of Bronze age standing stones, huge granite burial chambers, Celtic crosses and holy wells.
