6 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, spacious, comfortable house, equipped to very high standard, wonderful views, on edge of pretty village with 2 award-winning pubs.
Enjoy spectacular views and wonderful peace and quiet in our warm and comfortable former Rectory which has just been completely renovated. Perfect for one or two families wanting to holiday together, but still have some privacy, the house is particularly spacious and well-equipped. The village is renowned for its 2 gastronomic award-winning pubs, only a short walk away. The area is packed with things to do: great walking in the Berwyn Mountains - right on the doorstep, or in Snowdonia beyond; pony trekking and riding just down the road. The beautiful Ceiriog Valley -" a little piece of Heaven on earth" to quote David Lloyd George - is rich in history: visit Chirk Castle, the awe-inspiring UNESCO Telford Aqueducts and amazingly preserved Erdigg Hall, or Llangollen, world famous for its International Music Eisteddfod, Heritage Steam Trains, Horse-drawn Canal Boat trips, and White Water Rafting. There is golf and fishing locally and a new swimming pool in Oswestry.

About the Owner
About C Meier
We have been coming to stay in the village since the children were little and have always been enchanted by its beauty, serenity and glorious views. When we saw that the house was for sale, we knew we had to try and buy it.
C Meier purchased this house in 2011
Why C Meier chose Powys and Brecon Beacons
We love the fantastic peace and quiet, and yet it is only a short walk down the road to the pub for a great pint and a brilliant meal. During the renovations, we have enjoyed huge support from everyone and have been truly appreciative of the warm welcome extended to us in this really friendly village. The valley is steeped in history and is also home to many talented artists, some of whom generously offer a fascinating insight into their work on “open studio” days.
What makes this house unique
As we think having plenty of space is a bonus on a family holiday, the size of the rooms is especially attractive - we can all be together or simply do our own thing – the 2 sitting rooms with large TVs mean there is harmony at peak viewing times. Our aim was to make the house really warm and comfortable, so we installed very efficient central heating plus wood burning stoves for extra cosiness. We love how light and airy the house is, so there is a real sense of connection with the countryside when we look out of the windows and see the hills and watch the lambs and sheep in the fields. The luxury we decided to allow ourselves when planning the works, was the number of spacious bathrooms: most are en-suite, several having walk-in power rain showers, which have proved a great success.

Perfect house for our 3 generation family holiday
St. Garmons was the perfect house for our anniversary celebration holiday with our children and grandchildren. It has all the equipment you could wish for and bags of space for everyone. The location is delightfully peaceful with lots to do in the area. It was amazing watching the Red Kites in the field next to the garden. The 3 year old grandchildren loved the trains at Llangollen and a day trip in a barge on the canal at Trevor, we all held our breath as we went over the aqueduct.
Many thanks to Patrick and Carol for all their help and advice.
An idyllic retreat and a beautiful home
I searched high and low for a large house that could accommodate four families for a wedding anniversary. Bathrooms were a must, as was somewhere we could all eat together, space the kids could run around, space to relax and wind down, near different activities, clean - you get the general idea! In all honesty I am slightly loathe to write a review in case this gem gets booked up solidly for the next ten years, but I think it's only fair considering what a superb job the owners have done with it. Attention to detail is fantastic, every room has been beautifully decorated and equipped. Think luxury 5* hotel, rain showers, quality fittings etc. The layout is ideal for families as we had two in each side of the second floor and two on the top floor. Bathrooms for all and we didn't hear a thing at night despite there being 5 very young children in the house.
The house was very clean and double dishwashers and washing machines were very useful.
In terms of the area - wow. Stunning all round and lots to see and do in the vicinity. We went on excursions to Chirk castle, the acqeduct, white water rafting, horse drawn narrowboats and park hall farm. Both pubs in the village are also lovely and very accommodating.
I feel very fortunate to have found St Garmon and had the opportunity to bring four families (of old school friends) together under one roof with 6 children, five under the age of 5. It could have been a recipe for disaster, but the size amd space in the house, coupled with the fantastic facilities and location made it one of the most enjoyable holidays we have had. It is a home where many memories are made. Well done Caroline and Patrick!
Quite the house!
A beautiful house that has loads of space.... the word 'tardis' comes to mind. Plenty of space for large families or groups of friends, and with all the day-to-day facilities you would need. In fact it was better equipped than our own house.
We stayed with our little 18 month old and the house worked well for her. The child's room and supplied cot were great and she loved all the space to run around.
We would definitely recommend the house and the two local pubs (literally over the road) were fantastic.
Just got back from a wonderful week in llanarmon. House was amazing, plenty of room for all 12 of us and a baby. Spacious bedrooms and beautiful scenery. Very well equiped kitchen and a lovely dining area for everyone to get together in the evenings.
Highly recommend visiting the Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfall and we had some lovely days out to Chester and Llandudno.
Well worth a visit
Another brilliant week!
Coming back for the second time with all the tribe, this time for a full week, we realised again just what a fantastic family house this is. The new French doors in the dining room (which now lead out onto new terrace) add to the pleasure of eating there, while the superb kitchen and laundry room make domestic arrangements so much easier. We had Welsh weather for this week, but the sheer beauty of the surrounding area - at this time of year absolutely full of bluebells - make weather almost irrelevant. As ever, The Hand offered a most excellent respite with their hospitality. All in all, a great time in a great place!
Fabulous holiday break
The house at Llanarmon exceeded our every expectation. the website description does not do it justice.
My husband and I spent a week there with our grown up children and their spouses, and our grandchildren. The house was more than big enough to accommodate us all and roomy enough so that we weren't on top of each other all the time.
The large kitchen and kitchen table meant all 11 of us could sit down together for tea, which was great.
The number of sitting rooms allowed the younger ones to sit in their own room, watch their own TV and play their games while we were in the other sitting room.
The bedrooms are very roomy and well fitted out with the most comfortable beds we have slept on in a while.
The owners were very accommodating and very helpful with advice on using the house and local points of interest while the local handyman/caretaker was very helpful whenever we had any immediate problems.
The location of the house was perfect for us and provided the children with lots of space for walks and adventures.
Within easy traveling distance for Llangollen and North Wales in general. Although we are not great walkers I could see this as being and ideal base for a fantastic walking or cycling holiday.
The local pubs were very friendly and welcoming serving some really good food.
I would highly recommend this house to anybody and look forward to staying there again.
