A beautifully renovated French cottage conversion, decorated and furnished to a very high standard. Full gas central heating, with new combination boiler, for instant hot water. This property is a joy to visit at any time of year. The summers are very hot and in the winter the weather doesn’t matter because of the fabulous log burning stove. This is not a holiday cottage it is a family home and equipped with everything. From washing machine to dishwasher from pool table to badminton, all enhanced by a beautiful solar heated salt water swimming pool (so no green hair and no it doesn’t taste of salt!). The pool is fenced to the very strict French standards to protect children. As a final touch there is underwater lighting for those wonderful evening drinks round the pool. Perhaps the greatest asset of this property is it flexibility, whether a large family or groups of friends there is a way to accommodate everybody happily. An additional benefit is a large private area of woodland.

Fantastastic home away from home!

We arrived on Saturday afternoon after a 10+ hour car journey to find what we can only describe as paradise! The house and grounds were all neat and tidy and the bottle of wine and beers left in the fridge by Lisa were a welcome treat after the hours we spent on the road! After stowing our bags we immediately headed to the pool where we spent the first of many afternoons enjoying the lovely warm salted water. Trust me after swimming in this pool you will never want to swim in anything clorinated again! Just make sure to put the solar cover over it at night so it stays warm for the next day. We used the outdoor patio for all meals and enjoyed the use of the gas grill provided. There was plenty of room in the house for all 9 of us. The loft room at the top was perfect for the 4 kids. The ensuite bedroom on the next level had the most gorgeous views and the most comfortable bed ever. If we could have taken it home with us we would have! The bedrooms on the ground floor were ample in size with comfortable beds as well. The swings in the back garden were an unexpected surprise which the children enjoyed along with picking blackberries in the wooded area behind the house. We also enjoyed the ample selection of books and games the one day it rained. We were given an opportunity to trial a scenic mountain bike tour as well. This was a great way to see the surrounding landscapes and I can see its appeal to bikers who might want to visit outside the summer tourist season. We were provided with bikes, helmets, and two bilingual guides (Andrew and his son). I'm not the most seasoned cyclist, but was able to manage the route and enjoyed the experience. I would have liked have the chance to take photos of the countryside so perhaps in future breaks could be timed to occur at scenic spots to allow for this. Dave sent us a very detailed spread sheet in advance of our arrival which listed the surrounding towns, their distance from the houses, market days, shops, restaurants, museums, etc. We managed to make it to the nearby lake to take advantage of the velo rail, beach, and mini golf but that was it. The house has so much to offer that we didn't feel the need to venture far. Our only regret is that we didn't book and second week!

Cycling, walking, swimming, chilling- perfect!

The house was very easy- pool, indoor games area, garden, spacious living and great outdoor eating area. The description given was accurate.

The owner replied promptly to enquiries and was keen for us to enjoy the house and the area - which we did!

Andrew and Lisa welcomed us and gave us lots of information and a contact should we need anything.

The bike hire bikes were great and ready for us to use on arrival. Andrew took us on an off road route, one of many in the area, which we thoroughly enjoyed - especially the beer stop. Andrew is very knowledgeable and was able to offer a wide range of routes. He was also very patient!

We also were able to cycle the quiet roads around the house and cycle to the boulangerie for the breakfast run.

The house is 5 minutes drive from a lake with beach and other activities. A great house in a great setting.

We have no hesitation in recommending both the house and the cycling option.

The village of Bussiere Galant has a wonderful recreational facility for all ages which include; acro bois tree climbing course(similar to go ape ), 1/4 mile long zip wire over the lake, velo rail(pedal powerd car on disused railway), sandy beach with swimming area, football pitches, miniature railway, crazy golf, cafe and beautiful walks throughout click on the link on the facilities page to find out more.

One of this areas biggest assets are the 700 km's of marked cycle tracks and quiet roads to suit all types and abilities of cyclist. We can arrange hire bikes for you and your group, more information can be found on our cycling website click on the link provided on the facilities page.

The nearby town of Chalus has Bars, Restaurants and shops along with 2 supermarkets.

the 2 beautiful historic cities of Limoges and Perigeux are within an hours drive.

There are markets every day of the week within easy driving distance, there are also numerous Chateaux and places of historic interest close by.

The International airport of Limoges is a 35 min drive away. There is a Train station in Bussiere Galant Gare.

Outside: One of the most striking features of this property is the grounds. loads of lawns, patio, veranda and room enough to go off for a picnic in the woods. Equipped with BBQ, area for Badminton and Boules Pit. In a remote part of the garden is a summer shelter ideal for sunny lunches or even evening meals. There are fruit trees in the garden, plus the wonderful area of woodland. Utility Room: Top loader washing machine and dryer and additional fridge for beer and wine. There is another utility room for ironing and storage. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: 8 Beach and 8 Bath towels are provided which must be washed if required during and at end of stay.
