'Our' Hideaway in the Olive Groves

  • 4 of 5

We have just spent a delightful week in this property. Our hosts were charming and helpful but certainly not intrusive. The location is ideal for visiting the many interesting villages in the area as well as convenient for Avignon and Orange. We couldn't fit everything in but Venasque and Gordes are a must.

I have to agree with a previous comment re the bed - I'm a bad sleeper but I slept like a log this week. Everything is supplied in the little kitchen (except food, obviously) for preparing simple meals as well as general consumables. There is even a bottle of the owners' own grown olive oil.

The pool is very refreshing particularly after a day out exploring.

If you are single or a couple looking for quiet and relaxation but with plenty of lovely places to visit in close reach, this takes some beating.

We would recommend this property to friends and relatives as it had everything we needed........bbq ideal for 2 people....good swimming pool when required......dappled shade from the olive trees

Enjoyed the local town of Carpentras on market day and surrounding villages......to sum up excellent property, brilliant holiday.

Perfect for a peaceful holiday

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely and peaceful week in this house which was very comfortable, well equipped and clean. Wonderful to sit in sun or shade in beautiful surroundings, lovely swimming pool. The house has everything it promised, was very easy and comfortable. Veronique and Christophe were great hosts, very welcoming and helpful.

The house is also in a good location for exploring the local area, we had good days out as well as lots of time at the house.

Highly recommended, and we hope to return another year.

Idyllic - 10 out of 10

  • 5 of 5

This is our 5th year holidaying in France and this was without a doubt the best gite we have stayed in. Beautifully presented with high spec kitchen, stunning bathroom with lashings of hot water and the biggest most comfortable bed ever.If you want peace and quiet then this is the place for you, the noisiest thing was the amazing red squirrels chasing each other round the trees. Also a great area if you want to run or ride, lovely quiet lanes through vineyards with just enough hills to make it a challenge. I was a lady running on my own and felt really safe. The lovely owners were always there if we needed them but at the same time respected our privacy.

The gite is located in what must be the prettiest part of France and there are sooo many lovely villages to visit all within 30-40 minutes drive. I could go on and on but my advice would be to book this gite for yourself and experience it yourself.

Lovely week of cycling and wine in Provence

  • 4 of 5

We were welcomed by Veronique with a cocktail which was lovely after the drive from Calais!

The property is very pretty- fantastic views from a lovely pool area which is next to the main house. The cottage itself is set back in the garden and very private. It had everything we needed- fridge, washing machine, n'espresso machine, and was clean and comfortable.

The area is lovely - Carpentras itself is fine, but the surrounding villages - Saint Didier, Gordes, Chateauneuf du pape and Avignon are all lovely- the only downside for us was that there are no restaurants in walking distance.

My partner is a very keen cyclist and the cottage is very close to Mount Ventoux, which is definitely worth a visit. The surrounding area is great for cycling too- good quality roads and lots of lovely villages to stop for coffee.

Overall, we loved the area and the property was a great place to explore it from - thanks Veronique for your hospitality!

Owner's Response: Thanks a lot for your comments. Happy you could enjoy the immediate environment with the pool and the outdoors. I'll make sure to prepare a full list of restaurants available around...or shall I start proposing home made special dishes? This could be an idea. Again Thant you for staying at our place.

Peace and tranquility amongst the olive trees

  • 5 of 5

The information about the house at Carpentras is accurate but does not really do justice to the property. The house is bright and light and has a feeling of spaciousness and is ideal for two people. It is very well equipped and comfortably furnished. The property is well maintained in every respect thus ensuring a comfortable and trouble free stay. The private outside area is suitably furnished with tab le, chairs and loungers set amongst shade providing trees. The owners have gone to a great deal of trouble to make the area attractive with box shrubs and potted plants.

The booking process was very straightforward, enquiries were dealt with promptly which enabled us to make decisions in an orderly way. in addition the owners have excellent English, they were always helpful and friendly and readily responded if we had a problem.

The house is conveniently close to the old town of Carpentras but is also well located to visit other towns and villages in this part of Provence and indeed further afield such as Arles and Marseille. The area boasts an abundance of weekly markets during the summer months and local wine producers, Cote du Rhone, offer visits and tastings. For those who have an interest in all things Roman this area provides a feast. There are many structures to visit and museums to browse.

We would readily recommend this property to family and friends and have in fact already done so. We had a truly wonderful relaxing holiday in delightful surroundings with kind generous hosts.

Owner's Response: Dear Ruth and Hedley We were very happy when you told us you would come back and we are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your second stay at our little cottage. It means a lot to us that you have had again a good time amongst the olive trees, the buxus and the cigale'songs. We hope to see you again, best wishes, Veronique.
