Why Richard & Christine Carter chose South Hams
We first came to Kingswear in 2010 when we booked an apartment online at short notice. We loved it so much that we kept coming back throughout the year and found that we enjoyed it as much out of season as in season. Having often looked into buying a holiday property in various parts of Britain and Europe we realised that we had stumbled upon the perfect place. The Dart Estuary is in the middle of the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with so much to see both on the doorstep and further afield. Kingswear village is a friendly and quiet spot in which to relax but is only minutes away from the bustling ancient port of Dartmouth via the frequent ferries. The village stores caters for most needs and the welcoming Ship Inn is our favourite pub in the area.
What makes this cottage unique
In the centre of the village with great views over the Dart with no long hikes up steep steps to get to and from the property unlike many. Short walk to village stores, marina car-park, local pub, bus stop, ferries to Dartmouth, Steam Railway.

Fabulous Home from Home
The cottage was well laid-out and spacious with fantastic views across the river to Dartmouth. The property was extremely clean, comfortable and ideal for a couple. Any problems we had were dealt with quickly and efficiently by Christine, the owner. We would recommend this property to family and friends (in fact we've told everybody how brilliant it was). We will definitely be booking it again in the future. Many thanks, Richard and Christine.
Perfect cottage with amazing views
The cottage was all that we hoped for with amazing views over the River Dart and Dartmouth.
The cottage was delightful, spotlessly clean, very well equipped and well maintained. We relaxed straight away. The owners had thought of everything - leaving information on the area, including timetables etc. The ferry across to Dartmouth is just a few minutes walk from the cottage and runs every few minutes.
The area has so much to offer and stunning scenery. During our stay we took the boat to Greenway previously owned by Agatha Christie now owned by the National Trust. Took the steam train to Paignton and the bus to Brixham leaving the car safely parked.
We would not hesitate in recommending the cottage to family and friends.
Fantastic Xmas and New Year
This beautiful cottage was the perfect warm, snug base for our treasured Xmas and New Year break.
The bedroom is huge - much bigger than it looks in the pictures - and perfect for lie-ins watching the world go by outside. Oh, and the bed is v comfy too!
The kitchen is well stocked so great if you plan to cook your own meals. Water pressure in the bathroom is fantastic and heating almost too toasty at times so ideal for a winter getaway.
The area of Kingswear is beautiful with a lovely local pub and shop, and everyone is very friendly too. The shops are just a short, picturesque ferry ride away with the fish stall in the market being our most impressive find.
All in all a fantastic holiday. The owners were very helpful when we had a few questions, and the property manager Peter was brilliant when we needed something sorted mid-stay - and very easy to find in the local pub!
I would thoroughly recommend this cottage to any couple wanting to escape to a very beautiful part of the world.
You'll Love It !!!!!!!
Bus, Steam Train and Ferry's are within a very short walk. There is a car ferry available as well as a passenger ferry. Parking a few steps away at the Marina. Very secure.
The cottage is cosy, bright and clean. Very nice to have unlimited Wifi. All the conveniences you would need away from home. Lovely huge bedroom with kingsize bed and view of the Marina.
Owners provided great local suggestions and directions to the cottage. Nothing was too much trouble.
Enjoyed a wonderful holiday.
A little Gem!
A fantastic cottage, absolutely perfect for 2, spotless on arrival and substantially stocked with cutlery, crockery, wine glasses ( very important!) and the most wonderful bedlinen & towels.
The views across to Dartmouth were great and being able to park in the Marina car park saved so much hassle of finding a space.
We had a terrific week in a place we know well and now even better that we have found this gem of a cottage.
Great contact from the owners leading up to our stay and a number to contact them on if we needed it... but we didn't, they have thought of everything.
Thanks we will be returning 😊
Ideal bolthole for South Hams
The listing description was totally accurate in every detail, if anything reality was better than the photographs.
All equipment was modern and of good quality, with well explained instructions in the property information folder. Totally self sufficient with full size fridge/freezer and washing machine, the dishwasher was a bonus as far as we were concerned.
On arrival it was obvious that cleanliness was of a high standard, all we had to do was unpack (which wasn't difficult because of the spacious storage available) and start our holiday.
Although we didn't need to contact them the owners were available to answer any questions by mobile phone.
In general the property is clean, spacious and ideally located for both central Dartmouth (foot ferry just down the road) and for reaching anywhere in the Torbay/Paignton area without having to use the car ferry. Superb views of the marina and river.
We would happily choose this property again tomorrow.
