About the Owner

We live and work in Exeter with our children and Schnauzer dog called Colin. He loves the beach and coastal walks in winter when we bring him with us to stay in Romiley.

Romiley, Trevone Bay

  • 5 of 5

Very well decorated, clean and comfortable. Practically on the beach with good parking at the front of the property Very well equipped with a large television, books, DVD player, and DVD's, and a smart modern kitchen. We only had four days and were fortunate with the weather. Trevone Bay and the adjoining beach Rocky Bay are a paradise for families of all ages, and great for those with young children, no amusement arcades, just toilets and a good beach café. The walks along the coast are superb, try from Trevone to Harlyn Bay and have a drink at the Harlyn Bay hotel for your troubles! you can go into Padstow for the evening if you are so inclined. there are plenty of places around to eat, from the cheaper fish and chip shops to Rick Steins restaurant (if you can afford it!)

A beautiful place don't miss it! Hope very much to return there.

Owner's Response: A very complimentary review which reflects the reason why we originally bought Romiley and continue to enjoy, particularly out of season when you have the place to yourselves.

Well placed family home

The property was very well equipped and in a perfect location for those wishing to explore the beautiful beach nearby. There were plenty of bedrooms, all of which were well decorated, and the home was clean and welcoming, we would definitely return.

Location

From the Owner

We bought Romiley 10 years ago after spending the previous 5 years holidaying in Trevone. The children are now off to university and enjoy using Romiley with their friends. We have spent many happy summers and New Years in Trevone with family and friends and hope others can too. Many hours have been spent searching for cowrie shells on the rocky beach and exploring and looking for star fish and crabs. The space on the sandy beach when the tide is out is perfect for a game of cricket. The walk across the fields to Padstow and return along the coast path is another activity we all have to do at least once.

Activity and Interests

Coast/Beach:

2 minute walk to sandy Trevone Beach patrolled by lifeguards from May - September to ensure a safe bathing environment. 5 minute walk to Rocky Beach with semi natural swimming pool. Using the coastal path (or car) you can visit 6 other nearby unspoilt but varied beaches at Harlyn Bay, Mother Ivey's Bay, Constantine Bay, Booby's, Treyarnon and Porthcothan. Fistral Beach Newquay (14m) and Watergate Bay (10m) are world famous for surfing and Daymar (14m) is great for windsurfing.

Travel:

Newquay airport (approx 10 miles). Bodmin Parkway mainline rail station (approx 20 miles). Local bus service to Padstow and Newquay. For a beach orientated holiday you will not need a car once you get to Bay House. However, many of the attractions of the area are only accessible by car.

Distances:

Padstow -2 miles.

Newquay - 13 miles.

Crealy Adventure Park - 5 miles.

Wadebridge- 10 miles.

Further Details:

Tesco is 5 minutes drive away in Padstow. Cinema in Wadebridge. Restaurants include Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant in Padstow, Paul Ainsworth No6 in Padstow, Ripley's at St Merryn, and Jamie Oliver's Fifteen Restaurant at Watergate Bay near Newquay. Tennis: 3 all-weather courts at the nearby Trevose Golf & Country Club. Surfing: on many of the local beaches. Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan: both near St Austell about one hours drive away. Camel Trail: cycle the Camel estuary trail from Wadebridge to Padstow (cycles can be hired from either place). Fishing: good local sea fishing from nearby rocks and beaches, plus boat fishing trips from Padstow.
