From the Owner

We love the this part of the Dordogne because of its beautiful countryside. The Perigord-Limousin natural park with forests, fields, rivers and many lakes and ponds create a wonderful setting. Whilst having easy access to all the wonderful attractions of the Dordogne, it is away from the tourist crowd. Limoges airport, which has daily low-cost flight from/to UK, is only 45 minutes away. Because of its rural setting it is recommended to have a car; it is about seven hours by road from Calais.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Limoges - Bellegarde at 55 Kilometres Nearest Train : Thiviers at 30 Kilometres Car: necessary

Special interest holidays:

This area is great for cycling and very popular with cyclists, both for mountain bikers and road cyclists.

Mountain bikers can enjoy the many kilometres of off-road tracks, passing chateaux, lakes, rivers and fantastic scenery. For the road cyclist, these quiet, undulating roads make road cycling safe and a pleasure to ride, passing through many typical French villages, lakes, rivers and again the views are breathtaking.

The area is perfect for family holidays. A barrage, large dam, in nearby Miallet, suitable has a path all around it. Great for walking, with a nature trail with information on flora and fauna, or even off-road cycling, and safe for the children. A little further afield we have a modified disused railway track again very popular for families to cycle or walk as it is traffic free.

Although this is a rural location, set in a natural park, there are many lakes locally with lovely man-made beaches, many have diving platforms, canoes, pedaloes, cafes, toilet facilities, with life guards during the summer months. The nearest one is just a few minutes away, outside Saint Saud.

Limoges airport 45 min; driving distance from channel port is 700+ km (7hrs). Because of the rural location Use of a car is essential.

Further Details:

The Perigord is well known for it gastronomy. The many local markets offer a great choice of fresh produce, fruits and veg, poultry, fish, cheeses etc.; every day of the week one or more markets are open in the vicinity. There are excellent restaurants nearby, as well as simple bistro style places.

The property is set at edge of the hamlet on a 3.5 acre garden, with lovely uninterrupted views of the green rolling landscape and valley. Two villages nearby offer basic amenities: baker, butcher, mini market, pharmacy, bar and restaurants. The property has a fenced 10x5 m pool. We provide pool towels and umbrellas so you can travel light and make the most of the pool. For those who enjoy a more active holiday there are ample opportunities for walking and hiking, cycling, horse riding, tennis, fishing or canoeing in the area.
