Cottage in Roseland Peninsula, Cornwall, England - Peaceful Hamlet - 5 Minute Drive To Towan Beach. 10 Minute Walk To Ferry To St Mawes

Pink Cottage lies in the secluded hamlet of Bohortha, tucked up a no through lane at the tip of the Roseland Peninsula within a mile of St. Anthony headland. Gerrans and Portscatho provide the local amenities of tea rooms, pubs, post office and doctor's surgery. From the doorstep there are safe and sandy beaches and miles of walks to explore along the coastal paths and woodland creeks. In the summer months the ferry to St. Mawes for local shopping offers the possibility of a completely car free holiday. Originally a fisherman's cottage the thick cob walls keep the rooms cosy and warm in winter and cool in summer. Like many cottages of the period the beamed ceilings are low and the stairs quite steep which many of our visitors say is an attractive feature.

About Peter Hare-Scott

Pink Cottage belonged to my grandmother but was sold in the 1950's. We bought it back in 1991 as an extension of the family home. We spend as much time as possible on the Roseland Peninsula as there is so much to do. We are now letting the cottage more because the children have all grown up and have fewer holidays. Whilst they were growing up they enjoyed all forms of water sport as well as the beautiful walks, sea birds and marine life.

Notes on accommodation: The cottage is old with beams and full of character with updated bathroom and toilet facilities. It is south facing and in a secluded sunny spot. Outside: There is a sunny south facing patio at the front with table, chairs and garden bench. To the side there is a secluded lawn area. The garden is dog proof. Guests are asked to bring their own linen and towels but plenty of duvets, blankets and pillows are provided. Property is thoroughly cleaned before every visit. Other: Dining Room with table, window seat and chairs. Fully carpeted, cupboard with range of attractive china and under stairs cupboard with vacuum cleaner, iron and ironing board.

Pink Cottage

Talking to the neighbours, Pink Cottage has had a thorough facelift in the last few years. The kitchen and bathroom are newly done and now provide all you need in the compact space available. A dishwasher would be nice but there isn't the space!

Pink Cottage is a nice cosy cottage with a comfortable feel to it, the ceilings are a little on the low side if you are close to to 6 feet tall but that is part of the character. The garden is a lovely place to sit and relax in the peace and quiet of this relaxed part of Cornwall.

While we were there the path down to the nearest beach and part of the coastpath were closed following the winter storms which was the only disappointment in a week that gave us fine weather and plenty of blue skies.

Parking is on the quiet road and is a short walk from the gate, at busy holiday times there might be a bit of competeion for the best parking spot.

The owner was very accommodating in allowing us a Friday-Friday booking.

Pink Cottage is thoroughly recommended!

The Eden Project and the lost Gardens of Heligan are about 50 minutes away. Falmouth with its famous maritime museum is easily reached by car via King Harry ferry or from St. Mawes by the foot ferry.
