This property has been a popular holiday let for 8 years now with a regular clientèle base. Brian the owner has lived in the area for some 15 years and commutes to his place of work on a daily basis on the North East coast.

Why Brian Whitehead chose Northumberland

I bought Park Cottage for its location overlooking the North Tyne fells and river. The peace and tranquillity of the area makes it both a beautiful place to live and holiday because of its proximity to Kielder Water.The Cottage is situated in the Northumberland National Park with its spectacular walking areas within the forest and the Cheviot Hills. The busy market town of Bellingham is 4 miles, Hexham 15 miles. This area is well known for its night skies being the best in England with an observatory close by.

What makes this cottage unique

The cottage is detached and has a beautiful fully enclosed sunny walled garden containing a variety of mature trees and shrubs, it is approached via quiet lane on the edge of the hamlet of Lanehead.

It has an open fire for the cooler evenings, although fully centrally heated, with patio decking area with table and chairs. Off road parking right outside of the property.

Refurbished with quality fittings and beautifully presented comprising of entrance hall, large sitting room,well equipped fitted kitchen, 1 double bedroom, bathroom with three piece suite and electric shower over bath.

Facilities, ceramic hob,electric oven,fridge freezer,microwave,washing machine, TV,DVD,video,CD hi-fi. Bed linen/towels etc supplied. Large selection of books and DVDs for those cosy nights in.

Enchanting cottage with stunning views

This was our first visit to Northumberland. The drive through to the cottage was simply stunning with miles and miles of beautiful scenery.

We arrived at Park Cottage and were immediately struck by the tranquillity as the only sounds we could hear were the bleating of sheep, and the wind as it moved through the trees in the garden.

The cottage itself was pretty to look at and cosy and comfortable inside with a real fire for those evenings when the weather could turn cool.

There was everything we could possibly need within and the kitchen was very well equipped too. (We cooked every night that we were there).

We spent a great deal of our time watching from the comfort of the sofa in the lounge the antics of the birds as they fed from the large bird table in the garden and many frequent visitors included Woodpeckers, Goldfinchers, Sparrows and many others. We could also hear the cry of the Buzzards as they flew overhead.

In the evenings as the twilight descended we would then watch the bats as they swooped overhead whilst hunting through the trees.

We Loved the cottage and we were loath to leave it on some days, but we did manage to take ourselves to Cragside (a Must), Wallington (another must due to the beautiful walled garden) and also Kielder Water for a stroll.

We also paid a visit to The Holly Bush Inn, Greenhaugh near Kielder for a pint of real ale and were welcomed by the locals who included us in their conversations.

Overall summary of our stay was that we loved the cottage, the owner Brian was very friendly as he came along just the once to see if all was well on our day of arrival. The cottage was clean, attractive, well equipped, comfortable, peaceful, it felt good to be ensconced within its walls and we would not hesitate in returning to it again one day as well as recommending it to our friends and Families.

Great cotrage in a fantastic location

Absolutely loved the cottage which is furnished to a high standard and has a beautiful walled garden. The view from the front is stunning.

Great location for walking and cycling or just chilling out.

Highly recommended and great value for money.

relaxing,calming,

The cottage was all I expected,this was my 2nd visit and I hope to return next April or May.Your worries and stresses disappear when you see the beautiful scenery and the calming effect of the lovely cottage,which was clean and comfortable.My dog loved the garden exploring and sniffing around.The owner Brian was very welcoming and helpful,The welcome gifts were much appreciated.Hope to see you next year.Margaret and Molly.

Wonderful little cottage

We had a lovely time in this lovely little cottage in a quiet secluded lane. The facilities were excellent and the property was very clean and tidy. The walled garden is an added bonus! The photograph on the website does not do the house and garden justice—it is beautiful! A very quiet lane and nice view. Very handy for exploring both the Kilder Forest area, Hadrian’s Wall and further afield. The owner was very pleasant and visited to make sure that everything was okay. We would recommend highly a stay here as it was not only well appointed but good vaue for money. We hope to return sometime in the future perhaps even next year!

Brain, your cottage was beautiful and in an fantastic spot, views are wonderful. We both felt it was like a home from home, clean, fully equipped, bed so comfy. Loved having an efficient oven and washing machine ( I am a sad person for liking these things !) Thank you for the welcome pack. You had everything in the place, comfortable and warm. Numerous books and films to read / watch. Loved the fire, which we had on every night. Lovely area to explore, many walks with the dog. The neighbour's and locals are all very friendly. Once again lush place for a peaceful and relaxing stay, we will be back x

Great cottage

This is a lovely cottage that is clean, well equipped and really comfortable. The garden is beautiful with a nice decked area for eating/sitting out.The cottage is situated in a quiet lane in the heart of the Northumberland National Park and is very peaceful. The owner Brian is very helpful. If you are looking for good reasonably priced accommodation in a peaceful area surrounded by beautiful open countryside then this is the place for you. We definitely hope to return.

Short breaks of 3 or 4 nights are available at a cost of 78% of the full week price, unfortunately the website does not allow us the application to specify this in actual figures and so just gives out a daily rate of the weekly rate ( x3 or x4 ) which is not correct, any enquiries about this please email and we are happy to explain further.
Keys and directions; keys will be left under the first pot as you go through the gate, directions from the Hexham round about on the A69 there will be a turning on the left by speed camera sign posted for Kielder and Bellingham, travel along this road going through the villages of Acomb, Wall, Chollerford and then onto Bellingham, coming over bridge into Bellingham you will see St Oswalds church on your left, turn left straight after the church following signs for Kielder, travel along road for 4 miles passing the Riverdale hotel at the crossroads at Lanehead take a left for Kielder, just as you turn left you will see a bus shelter on your left, just after this there is a turning on the left which takes you over a cattle grid and on upto the cottage which is the fifth property on the lane.
Name of cottage is on the gate, the front of the cottage has been fenced off and can park your car anywhere within the enclosure.
