Golfers! We are only a mile from Trevose Golf Club? It has 18 and 9 hole links courses. The views over Constantine and Booby's Bay are jaw-dropping.

Beach lovers! There are so many golden sandy beaches to choose from, and they are all dog-friendly. Our local beach Porthcothan Bay is an 8 minute walk.

Details for holiday barn The Linney, 2 Bedrooms, Sleeps 4, 1 Bathroom

The Linney is a semi-detached converted barn tastefully furnished and decorated to an excellent standard. A brand new bathroom and kitchen have recently been added. We think it looks great!

Upstairs there is a double room and a twin room, plus a lovely family bathroom with bath, separate shower, WC and basin. Ceilings are open-pitched, high and beamed giving an airy tranquil feel. Our beds are so comfortable that past visitors have gone home and bought the same bed!

Downstairs is a large open plan kitchen, living room and dining area. The kitchen has been newly refurbished and boasts beautiful granite worktops, along with the usual mod cons (dishwasher, microwave, washing machine).

The front door opens onto a walled gated patio - perfect for sandy dogs. It is the best sun-trap at Carnevas! It faces south and is cradled by slate walls that absorb the heat. Just right for a cold glass of white wine on a warm summer evening.

About the Owner

As well as running my little holiday business by the sea, I am a mum to 3 small children (I really do understand the challenges of going on holiday with little ones). I am a recently recovering NHS physio and have just started a new career as a farmer's wife!

I take great pride in my properties - I want you to love them as much as I do!

And I simply adore this wonderful part of Cornwall - it has got to be one of the most beautiful places in the world.

Walking the beautiful coast path on our doorstep is one of my favourite things, and if you are lucky enough to have a dog, you'd be hard pushed to find better.

My family have farmed at Carnevas for years, since Granny Rogers bought it in the 20s. We love it because it is so tranquil. Often we have the coastal path and the beach entirely to ourselves. And as for the beaches - my husband and I have travelled the world, but ours are the best. If the sun is shining, there is nowhere else I'd rather be. Having said that, I rather like the wild weather and mad winds we get. We are right in the line of the Atlantic Ocean after all.

Porthcothan Bay is our DOG FRIENDLY local beach,at the end of our road, an 8 minute walk away. It has beautiful golden sands, and a small shop for pasties and ice-creams. At low tide there is a wonderful natural swimming pool where our children learnt to swim. It is perfect for surfing as it catches the North Coast swells, as well as fishing, rock-pooling, sandcastle competitions or just relaxing and taking in the wonderful views. One of many gorgeous beaches all within a few minutes drive


Newquay Airport is only a 10 minute drive.

We are on the Western Greyhound bus route between Padstow and Newquay, so it is possible to explore without a car.

The closest mainline train station is Bodmin Parkway a 40 minute drive away.

The closest Ferry port is Plymouth a 1 1/2 hour drive away.


Local village of St Merryn is a 5 minute drive away, and has pubs, cafes, restaurants, Spar shop, garage, P.O., newsagent, bakers, hairdressers, and surf shop/hire.

The picturesque fishing harbour of Padstow is our local town 5 miles away. Of Rick Stein fame, it has the famous Seafood Restaurant as well as his many other outlets. Lots of shops, pubs, and restaurants, plus boat trips, and fishing expeditions, and a water taxi over to Rock (great for sailing or fine dining at Nathan Outlaws).

Further Details:

We have a pub at the end of our road - a 5 minute walk, with great views over the beach. Unfortunately not great food, but the beer is ok!

Small family/ couples only campsite, just down the road, run by our family, has a well stocked shop, bar serving meals, games room and play park which you are welcome to use in the season. There is also live entertainment most nights in the summer holidays which is fun for all the family.

Closest supermarket is Tesco at Padstow, or if you would like to order your groceries on-line, Asda, Tesco, and Sainsbury all deliver to PL28 8PN.


There are many well known attractions, all of which can be reached within an hour and a half, so it it a great base for exploring.

Cornwall boasts wonderful gardens including the Eden Project, the lost gardens of Heligan, and many national trust gardens like Glendurgan or Trebah.

Excellent National Trust properties such as Trerice, Lanhydrock, Pencarrow, and Cotehele.

Ancient castles like St Mawes, Restormel, or Tintagel Castle: also home to King Arthur's Great Halls.

Fantastic day trips to be had - see the tallships at Charlestown, explore seafaring history at the Maritime museum in Falmouth, or visit Port Issac home to the Fisherman's Friends, and of Doc Martyn fame. You might want to go fishing - there are many day boats that go out from Padstow and other harbours.

There are plenty of attractions especially geared towards families and children too: Newquay Waterworld/ Zoo/ and Aquarium, Flambards, Crealy adventure park, Lappa valley railway.

Or perhaps you have always wanted to soak up the atmosphere of Land's End, or visit Cornwall's most easterly point on the Lizard? St Michaels Mount is another wonder of this wonderful county.

Art lovers will adore St Ives, which boasts the Tate Gallery. Theatre goers will be blown away by the incredible Minack theatre carved into the cliffs at Porthcurno. There really is something for everyone.

25% non-refundable deposit required to secure booking. Once that is received, I will send you confirmation and directions by post.

Payment of full balance due 6 weeks prior to arrival. At this time I will ask for a £100 cleaning/ breakages deposit which is fully refundable when the house and garden is left as found.

Cheque to Mrs G Brewer or BACS transfer accepted. Sorry no refunds, apart from security deposit.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is Friday for Crigg, Granary, and Linney. Saturday for Carnevas Barn.

Short breaks available Friday to Monday, or Monday to Friday.

Fortnight long bookings only in the peak summer.

Check-in time after 4pm. Check-out time 10am.

Notes on prices:
Prices are inclusive. Bed linen is provided, but please bring any towels, t-towels, bathmats etc that you may require.

As well as feeling like we live in the middle of nowhere, we are lucky enough to have a great local village with a proper community, a good local, and a great church. (You'll know what we mean should you meet Reverend Julia!!) And then there is Padstow - yes some locals get a bit fed up with all the hype surrounding Rick Stein, but you'd have to go a long way to beat a fruits de mer and a cold bottle of Sauvignon at his restaurant. Foodie heaven!

  • Notes on accommodation: All our properties are beautifully decorated. Cleanliness is really important to us, which is why we have invested in lovely new beds, modern stripey carpets, and comfortable sofas. Pretty materials and fresh colour schemes abound. All properties have the usual mod cons: TV/ DVD, washing machine, fridge/freezer, microwave, oven/ grill/ hob, kettle, toaster, iron, ironing board, washing line, dishwashers. There are tumble dryers at Crigg and the Barn. We have carried out major refurbishments over the last 2 years and are really pleased with the outcome. The worktops in all of our kitchens are beautiful Cornish granite. The bathrooms are really modern and gorgeous with heated towel rails, and artisan tiles. New bathrooms, kitchen and balcony have just been added to the Granary which completes our major overhaul! All properties have proper heating, plus Crigg, Granary and Carnevas Barn have wood-burners. Cosy! Free WiFi now in all properties (apart from Linney) Outside: All properties are semi-detached. Crigg and Carnevas Barn each have their own large garden, which is fully walled/ enclosed and gated. Perfect for dogs and kids. The Linney and the Granary share a large open-plan grassy area great for big family get-togethers. Naturally we have outside seating and BBQs for you to use. These barns also have their own patios, enclosed by a low wall. The Granary's patio is next door to a shared courtyard. The Linney's looks out onto the communal lawn, and is gated (perfect for sandy dogs). The Granary has a lovely upstairs balcony leading from the master bedroom, fully enclosed. There is plenty of off-road parking available, and we live in a very safe area. We are situated on a road, however it is a minor country road, with a 30 mph limit, and very quiet. (It connects Treyarnon and Porthcothan bays, and is not a main through fare). We are right in the countryside, the air is filled with birdsong and the sound of the ocean!
