La Petite Cachette offers tranquility and privacy, Now with WiFi internet.overlooking vineyards on a woodland fringe where you may hear nightingales and see hoopoes. It is a charming house, with an open plan kitchen, dining and living room with a woodburning stove. The kitchen is well appointed with fridge/freezer, microwave and dishwasher. The house is well furnished with a mix of modern and traditional French antique furniture. The bedroom has two single beds which can be used together as a large double bed. There is room for a travel cot if travelling with a baby or small child. We can provide a travel cot and high chair if required. Please note, bed linen and towels are not provided. Both the living room and bedroom have French windows which open onto the terrace with views across the vineyards to the windmill, from where you can enjoy the wonderful sunsets The good sized garden is private and enclosed and well provided with outdoor furniture. The Chateaux Route through the Medoc will take you past fairytale chateaux and some of the most famous vineyards in the world, such as Rotheschild, Margaux and Beychevelle. You can enjoy winetasting at local chateaux. The Atlantic beaches are a short drive away, and the lake at Hourtin has sandy beaches. Take a day to visit Bordeaux, St Emilion, or La Rochelle. Go as foot passengers on the ferries across the Gironde to spend a day in the seaside town of Royan or to visit the Citadel at Blaye. Or simply take time explore the area or relax on a sunlounger in the garden before enjoying a sundowner on the terrace while you enjoy the sunset. The small town of Lesparre, 5 kilometres away, has boulangeries, patisseries, supermarkets, banks and a market on Saturday morning and this is the nearest place to buy any provisions. There is no shop in Blaignan.
We live next door, although the properties are completely separate and private. Alan has recently retired after working as Head Gardener at heritage houses and for the National Trust, and Barbara continues to work as a transcriber.

A deposit of £50 per week is required at time of booking with the balance due 8 weeks before the holiday.
Changeover day is Saturday, and departure is by 10.30 am. Arrival after 3.30 pm.
